Sherri McGee McCovey is co-author, along with Oscar Award-winning comedienne, Mo’Nique, of three books: the New York Times bestseller Skinny Women are Evil (Simon & Schuster); Skinny Cooks Can’t Be Trusted (HarperCollins), and YA novel, Beacon Hills High (HarperCollins). In addition to books, Sherri is a freelance journalist and has written for print and online publications: InStyle, Essence, La Parent, and Ebony. She has also written and produced scripted and unscripted television for ABC, Showtime, Oxygen, VH-1, BET and TV-One, and written for Kevin Hart, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Steve Harvey, TD Jakes, Ayesha Curry, and Kirk Franklin, just to name a few. A graduate of Spelman College, McCovey is a member of the Writer’s Guild of America and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Book Gettin’ Paid teaches youngsters what it truly means to be prosperous, the smart money moves it takes to get there, and how to maintain wealth when (and if) they do achieve it. The book also features the stories of everyday tweens and teens who have found their passions and made money with them. It also features the stories of A-List stars like actor/rapper Will Smith, NFL’s Rob Gronkowski, actor/comedian Kevin Hart, Chance The Rapper, NBA Hall of Famer-turned-sportscaster, Shaquille O’Neal, actress/popstar Zendaya, American Idol Winner, Carrie Underwood, and more, who share how they made money, lost it, worked hard to earn it back again, and the important lessons their money misstep taught them. In addition to material wealth, the book also details the importance of spiritual wealth and the tenet of charity and giving back. Each chapter also includes helpful takeaways called GRTs (Get Rich Tips), a glossary of easy-to-understand financial terms, websites, fun money games, and more.
