IMAGINARY BEINGS This began as nothing more than a project for university that I took up to improve on my skills in my drawing and experiment with incorporating different elements into my drawings to take a traditional style towards the modern world. I stood close to my influences from japan, tattoo design and concept art. The insiration for these drawings came from The Book of Imaginary Beings By Jorge Luis Borges. Also, working to design specifications fueld the shape and scale of the images.

FASHION & DESIGN Using illustrations from The Book Of Imaginary Beings I was able to develop designs that could be applied to fashion, my taste in fashion really swings towards the alternative side and my designs really showed this off. The heavy details translated really well and are of high quality after being screenprinted by hand.
FABRIC DESIGN Design is something really interests in me and after experimenting with items of fashions creating a fabric design only seemed natural to me. I created more illustrations from descriptions in The Book of Imagiary beings to create my own repeat pattern tile. I based the design on two Mythological creatures, both originating in china, the Chinese Pheonix and the lunar hare. Creating afabric design is one thing but using the fabric is another. I felt that this design really showed of my skills in the design field as well as my ability to illustrate so I used the fabric to create my own wallet to carry the physical form of my portfolio. The design would be suited to toher items as well, such as wall paper and soft furnishings.
STATIONARY DESIGN Stationary has always been a great love of mine, there is always something really satisfying about owning beautiful stationary and making my own was always something I had dreamed of. So I decided to use my designs fromm The Book of Imaginary Beings to create my own mini range of stationary. My repeat pattern and saller designs trandlated very well when applied this way. As well as making note books using japanese stabb binding, because matching stationary is a given. Making bookmarks has been a hobby of mine for a long time and turned into something that sells locally, so I stuck with a theme of dragons to create a mini series of book marks based on the same book. This gave me a little bit of freedom to play with format and colour.

PERSONAL WORK When creating work in my own time I like to give my images some kind of narrative, these two images were based on a story me and a friend made up about the romance between a genderless vampire and the daughter of the devil. Working like this is really inspiring and helps me, personally, to generate ideas.
