RUN GIRL RUN

The abandoned baby of verbatim and documentary theatre, commercial news broadcast and dogme95 films.

After a sell-out season at the 2013 Melbourne Fringe Festival, multi award-winning Melbourne ensemble Grit Theatre bring their unique brand of performance to Perth for the very first time.

VICTORIA

Performing entirely on treadmills, the Grit Theatre ensemble is in constant motion for this sweaty hour of bold, brash and sassy theatre.

It’s a show about the poverty. Bekoz you love the poverty. It fetishizes the poverty bekoz you love the fetish. We’ve made the poverty a commodity. If tickets are $1000 the show would be a luxury commodity. Like a Porsche or a diamond. Will any funds made off the play go to charity to help the boy or others like him? They won’t but if you pretend they are then you feel good. Do you feel good if you pretend? See you feel bad about the poverty but you feel good about feeling bad about the poverty, and even more good about feeling. So it’s working already.

Direct from a five-star season at the Edinburgh Fringe, multi-award winning theatremaker Stuart Bowden (The Beast, The World Holds Everyone Apart, Apart From Us) returns with his prototype invention

REFRESHINGLY HONEST TRUE LIFE TALES

SHAKESPEARE WITH A TWIST

Barefaced Stories takes to the stage with some fresh faces straight off the back of workshops with The Moth LA host Brian Finkelstein armed only with true tales. We’ve had comedians, wrestlers, mums and accountants – stay tuned to find out who’s in the line-up of new Barefaced storytellers from Perth.

Weaving between ancient and modern, this fresh take on a classic approaches Shakespeare with a healthy dash of humour. Jackets come to life, puppets are poetic and violent, and anachronisms abound. A bittersweet and amusing production for the reluctant Shakespearean.

Loosely inspired by Southern Blues mythology, The Polite Gentleman is the raw and honest story of a man in midlife malaise who wants more from his mundane existence, with a blues soundtrack from the 1920s to today by Andrew Weir (Snnoob, The Bosons), directed by Adam Mitchell (When The Rain Stops Falling, Boy Gets Girl, The Motherfucker With The Hat).

A new pair of hands is the perfect complement to a woman who exudes self-confidence. Bolstering professionalism while radiating magnetism, fashion hands add extra panache to any ensemble.

Written and directed by Jeffrey Jay Fowler (Minnie and Mona, Martin Sims winner 2013). Developed and performed by Austin Castiglione, Holly Garvey, Georgia King and Renee Newman-Storen, Second Hands tells a delicately interlocking story of suburban ennui, the staleness of monogamy, and the ceaseless desire everyone has for a new pair of hands.

Patrice suffers boredom while serving well-heeled housewives. Jayden is desperate for normalcy. Mel finds joy in innocent pleasure. Anna and her husband Otto are stuck in a horrific battle...about canapés.
