Moglin Residence - Evanston, IL - 2008-2009

The 2,200 square foot Design Evanston 2010 Award Winning addition to this Tudor landmark preserved the existing garage, converting the space into a new kitchen. Also included was a two car garage, with a master bedroom, bathroom, and closet above. The addition required approval by the Evanston Historic Preservation Board. before proposed addition after

The existing three bedroom beach front condo was out-dated and in need of upgrades to all finishes and services. The unit was demolished to its framing, and designed with modern details then clad in English sycamore veneer paneling. The project required the full design and detailing of all connections and material transitions.

Vassallo Residence - Wilmette, IL - 2010- Present

The family of five purchased this house intending to create an addition which contained an upgraded kitchen, family room, and master suite on the second floor. The integration of existing materials and details seemlessly joined the existing house with the addition. Site and landscape design is underway.

McLean Residence - Evanston, IL - 2009 - 2010

The residence was a two bedroom Evanston Landmark. The clients desired to add a master suite; consisting of a bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. The compact site and zoning regulations required the work to remain within the existing garage footprint. The project required approval by the Historic Preservation Board.

The boathouse is an accessory building to the newly finished residence. The 825 sq. ft. building includes a bedroom, full bath, living room, and kitchen. Natural lighting floods each room with dormers and floor to ceiling windows. A perception of floating above the water surface is created by the transparency and projection over the lake.

Cross Section | An Exploration into Assembling Sustainability - Thesis: Syracuse, NY - 2007

life cycle diagrams

I used my thesis as an opportunity to rethink the way we design small scale residential structures using completely sustainable, renewable materials. My thesis tested and compared thermal performance, bearing capacity, and the life cycle of conventional assemblies and compacted straw. The result is an affordable to build and highly efficient to operate home that leaves a neutral environmental impact.
