Beirut, Lebannon. M.Sc diploma project

O r

The Corniche, a 4.8 km long promenade, encircles the Beirut Central District.

r

Open Framework is a complete set of tools to investigate how first-line towers are blocking the seaside view and degrade property prices on subsequent levels of urban development following the coastline.

Distance to horizon has been calculated ad taken into accound for view optimization

Throughout the introduction of porocity and self organized develoments existing city may be trasformed into more porous and homogenous (in terms of market price and value) urban tissue.

Erdberg project

mass

Vienna, Austria 2012 Erdberg is a resedential district in the SouthEast of Vienna. Faced with important highway from Schwechat airport and Bratislava, the site serves an important role of “gates“ to the city and faces massive Prater park on the other side of Danube channel. Thus the circle as means of maximizing facade perimeter was chosen as a massing strategy. Thogether with program (public school, resedential, offices and hotel) circles determine shape of the building and its height. Elevated from the ground building is protected from highway noise and pollution by inclined towards the city ground plane with excessive greenery.

Hadath With Kanin Umgumnert Hadath distric served as a green line during Lebanese Civil War 1975-1990. With Frei Otto self optimization network expereminet we aimed to stitch the urban tissue back together with two levels of circulation and subdivision. First level on the gorund represents collection of intersection points on the borderline of Hadath with existing streets and important venues, the points then connected with straight lines and self-optimized (Frei Otto algorithm). Then the new layer is introduced by connecting iportant venues outside of Hadath but with immidiate impact (squares, mosques and churhes etc.). Links between this points are also connected and self-optimized to represent a new layer of circulation and linear gadens.

Pushkino Boulevard Urban revitalization Project team: Ruben Grigorian Kristina Ishkhanova

28

Pushkino is a satelite city located 15 km from Moscow ring road. As a part of rapidly developed Moscow agglomeration masterplan of new dense residential district provided no clear vision of public space for new development. Commisioned to solve the problem we produced the concept of revitalization - the boulevard. New public space aims to integrate new development with surroundings and provide recreation.

As a main goal of the progect, we tried to bring order and count every object on the area and put it on hierarchy layer. With help of modern tools and GIS systems we created digital hierarchy of objects, pathways and small areas, which then was divided onto three levels of navigation elements.

With great number of students current situation represents lowest space per student among competing universities in Moscow and Russia. COMPETITIONS AND FESTIVALS

Diagonal Archconstructor competition The design explores how can complex space be constructed of flat pieces of material and while being solid and enclosing be able to almost vanish from certain view angles. On the opposite from the solid angles of view the shape of the object is designed to exaggerate its size with perspective. auditorim

Thermochrome Melnikov pavillion competition The concept of pavillion articulates complex geometry that can be achieved with straight wooden studs together with some technology. Space inside of the pavillion intended to be used as a workshop and presentation area. Outer glass walls are covered with thermochromatic paint allowing spectators to get visual access to the event by using their body heat (hand, blowing) and creating unique pattern each time. Thus the visual representation of the object is determined by the function and its users - people.

Krovatia Crimea, Ukraine (at the moment) 2008 Krovatia - a country of beds - was a wooden installation on the shore of Black Sea at former sovied torpedo testing site. Bed on a mast and a monument of love. It is a complete setup for the seaman and his wife. When man is dreaming of the sea and ships and his wife is always waiting for her man. Hot and Sexy team

Hot’n’cool Kargopol, Russia 2008 The concept of provocation was elaborated again with our Hot’n’cool proposal. Consisting of two igoloos built right to each other the installation resembled femenine breasts with light on the tip. Something phisically cold and phenomennaly hot. Interiors of the igloos were finished with pink lights, aluminum foil and frozen in ice underware. Hot and Sexy team
