Relaxation and exertion Stimulate the taste buds at a tasting event in Epernay or during a visit at one of the many wineries along the route. Enjoy the splendor of the Avenue de Champagne where winery MoĂŤt & Chandon and others are located. Besides the relaxing wine activities a certain amount of effort is also required: the daily cycling distances range from 30 to 50 kilometres (18-30 miles), partly on country roads, unpaved roads in hilly terrain with heights of up to 350 meters. In order to enjoy these cycling tours a good level of fitness is required. Comfortable accommodation Your stay is on board the comfortable barge Zwaantje which accommodates 24 guests and sails under the Dutch flag and management. Particularly nice is the large terrace on the upper deck where you can relax and enjoy the sun. As well as travelling through the Champagne region the barge also offers a number of unique bike boat tours: a 14-day trip from Bruges to Paris in the spring, in the summer it will sail from Paris to Bruges in 2 weeks and then from Bruges to Amsterdam in one week.

Belgium A cycling journey through the beautiful Flemish country This route follows the winding Schelde through the ever changing, flat, Flemish landscape along picturesque villages and imposing cities. Bruges is Europe’s city for art and museums, and the city center with its numerous canals is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the middle ages, after Paris, Ghent used to be the second-largest city in Europe and it has the architectural richness to prove it. In Dendermonde you can visit the Begijnhof, the beguinage, with more than sixty 17th century houses. Stroll around and take it easy Harbor city Antwerp also has a great cultural heritage and the center of Mechelen boasts over three hundred monumental buildings. Visit Manneken Pis, the peeing statue, in Brussels’ beautiful town center. In addition to the daily bike rides, you will also have plenty of time to go on walks through the city centers, visit one of many museums and have a drink in one of the many old bars where they still brew beer in the old-fashioned way.

Cycling through the flat river valley of the Lower Rhine and through countryside full of woods and moors, and discover the green, creative and cultural city of Arnhem. The route continues its way in northern direction through the valley of the IJssel River, in the 13th and 14th century one of the most important trading routes in Europe. The ‘Hanse’ or ‘Hanseatic’ towns along this route are a lasting reminder and in Doesburg, Zutphen, Deventer, Zwolle and Kampen the elegant merchant’s houses and ancient city walls are remnants of these times.

Visit the harbor cities around the IJsselmeer Explore the ‘old land’ with many picturesque harbors and ‘new’ areas that were reclaimed from the sea. In the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age, towns such as Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Lemmer were major centers of global trade and the fishing trade was flourishing in Volendam and Urk. Up until the 1930s, the IJsselmeer was part of the open sea. The Enclosure Dam between North Holland and Friesland changed this former Zuiderzee into a large lake.

From history to the new land Starting in Amsterdam, you will travel north through the Waterland area to the picturesque town of Monnickendam. The journey will continue to Hoorn and Enkhuizen, where the historic city centers show how wealthy these towns used to be. You will cross the water to the new land in the North East Polder. Sailing skills aren’t required If you want, you can help our professional crew while sailing and navigating; sailing skills aren’t required. After a sailing trip to Lemmer you will cycle through the full of water province of Friesland to Stavoren. Germany
Enjoy historic highlights and delicious wines The Moselle and the Saar rivers meander through the beautiful Eifel-Hunsrück region between Koblenz and Saarburg. The route, which you can follow in either direction, takes you through river valleys over mainly flat, paved lanes and roads, surrounded by imposing castles on the hills around you. The Reichsburg castle, up on a 100-metre high hill, and the ruins in romantic Traben-Trarbach, are absolute must-sees. Roman history Porta Nigra, one of the oldest Roman structures in Germany, is situated in Trier, Germany’s oldest town. The monasteries, fortresses and castles and their many ruins, are reminders that this area has a rich history reaching back all the way into Roman times. Add the vineyards, picturesque half-timbered houses and rural market places into the mix and you have the perfect holiday destination. Along the Rhine and the Neckar Discover fortresses and castles with a toast The scenic river valleys of the Rhine and the Neckar are ideal to explore by bicycle and boat. The Rhine valley between Koblenz and Mannheim is very romantic with the Loreley rock, its fortresses, castles, and ruins you will pass along on the river’s narrow banks. These buildings were often constructed using this region’s unique slate.

The Danube originates in Germany and flows into the Black Sea in Rumania. The cycle routes take you through the mainly flat river valley without any significant altitude differences and provide a great view of the beautiful landscape and impressive cities in the river valley. The bike and boat holidays all start at the port of Passau in German Bavaria, close to the border with Austria. Now for the hard part: to choose from one of the amazing routes.
Cosmopolitan Vienna and Bratislava Starting in Passau you will ride your bike, slightly downhill, through the majestic Danube landscape, taking you to the famous Danube curve at Schlögen, the Danube-Auen National Park, legendary Wachau and cosmopolitan Vienna and Bratislava. These beautiful cities offer an abundance of architecture and history. Take the train to the top of the Burg Mountain in Bratislava for a spectacular view. In Vienna you have an entire day by bike to visit several famous sights and take a breather in one of the many cozy coffee houses and typical Vienna wine taverns.

Germany The river Rhine which flows from Switzerland to the Netherlands has, over the centuries, magnificently wended its way through South-West Germany whilst every now and again dipping into France. The unpredictable mountainous area directly borders the Rhine valley in many places. Along with the chateaux atop the mountains, the vineyards and the beautiful towns this is a much loved area for cycling and cruising.
