DCMH Healthy Fair on Wednesday There really is such thing as a free lunch and it’s offered to the first 700 attendees at this year’s “Healthy Fair” staged by Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH.) Would you like your cholesterol or blood pressure checked? Are you curious about diabetes education? Have you ever considered serving as a hospital volunteer? All of this information and more is offered in conjunction with the events at the DCMH “Healthy Fair” to be held next Wednesday and over 70 booths will be available to help in advancing your health and wellness. The public is invited to attend this annual event and take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn about their health from Noon to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. This popular Hospital offering has grown over the years, moving last year to the Greensburg Elementary School and attracting over 600 attendees. So what exactly does it include? The health fair is slated to offer over 70 booths, 19 of which will offer free screenings and more than 55 others will provide a variety of information. “Those attending this year’s health fair can expect to benefit from free screenings, a wealth of information relative to one’s health and the chance to interact with several healthcare professionals,” said David Fry, Director of Community Relations at DCMH. “For the public, this is a tremendous opportunity to obtain important information and for our Hospital it’s a direct tie to our mission of ‘advancing the health and wellness of our community.’ There are many in our facility that put forth special efforts to make this available for the community.” Some of the screenings offered will include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, sun damage, O2 saturation and diabetic foot exams. Physicians and nurses will be in attendance assisting with questions that individuals might have regarding health and wellness issues. There will also be community information available relative to healthcare needs including dialysis, assisted living, senior housing, nursing care, mental health issues and more. Plus, the Greensburg Fire Department safety trailer will be on display with other kid-friendly activities. Plus, several of the booths will offer door prizes. “This should be the largest DCMH Health Fair in our history so we’d like to see the largest crowd take advantage of this opportunity,” said Bobbi Ebbing, DCMH Marketing Specialist, and coordinator of the event. “Those who register in advance on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dcmhgreensburg are also entitled to a special gift.” More information regarding the health fair is available at www.dcmh.net/healthfair or by calling Ebbing at (812) 663-1167.
