Important Screenings and Events Supported by Spirit of Women Spirit of Women helped promote Cardiac Calcium Scoring, which is a 10 minute scoring exam that is both beneficial and practical. With DCMH's new 128-slice CT scanner, pictures are taken of the heart to show the presence of calcifications in the coronary arteries. For the months of February and March, the Radiology Department and Spirit of Women have promoted a special “buy one get one free” to encourage participation and a healthier community. Radiology has conducted 112 cardiac scorings to date. More than 120 are scheduled to be done by March 31. As an added promotion, Dr. MacPhail with Heart Partners of Indiana, spoke to 65 women during a lunchtime brunch, discussing the importance of the test, who is at risk, who should have it, and how to interpret the results. On Tuesday, April 3, Spirit of Women will be taking another road trip to Indiana Downs for a “Pork & Cork” event and 150 women will be transported to the venue to enjoy the evening. Indiana Downs’ “Chef Greg” will create heart healthy recipe presentations, all paired with wine. The educational speaker will be Dr. Barbara Taylor who recently received training on Cardiac CT Angiography. This new procedure will be enabled through the use of DCMH's state-of-the-art CT scanner.
