COACH PREWETT Dear Roswell Hornet Football Fans,

Coach Chris Prewett

On behalf of the football coaching staff, Roswell High School Administration, support personnel and football players it is my pleasure to welcome you to Roswell High School and the 2020 season of Hornet Football. The 2020 Hornets will again compete in the Georgia High School Association’s highest classification in Region 5AAAAAAA alongside North Fulton and Cherokee County rivals Alpharetta, Milton, Cherokee, Etowah, and Woodstock. Our region annually boasts many serious playoff contenders and 2020 should be no exception. Along with our region schedule, the 2020 slate will again feature many traditional rivals on our schedule including Centennial, Campbell, Walton, and North Paulding. The 2020 schedule is sure to be a great test for our hometown Hornets!

This has not been the normal offseason for our young men, but this year’s team have been preparing for many months in the weight room and on the practice fields, through much more adversity than any other Hornet teams! They have spent long hours and have given great efforts in hopes of competing in the name of their school, community and families. While many fine young men from last year’s regionchampionships squad were lost to graduation, this year’s team hopes to continue the fine traditions of sportsmanship, integrity and excellence that are synonymous with Roswell High School. The football program would like to thank the countless individuals who have made tonight’s game and the entire 2020 football season a possibility. Many volunteers have given much of themselves in preparation for this season and beyond. We would especially like to thank all those in the Roswell Touchdown club who have spent incredible time, talents and energy to ensure that our players have all they need to compete at the highest level. We hope you enjoy tonight’s game and the entire 2020 Hornet Football Season. Thank you for your support.

GO HORNETS! Chris Prewett Head Football Coach

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT/ ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Greetings Roswell Hornet Fans, Welcome to the Nest! On behalf of the Roswell High School Athletic Department, student-athletes, coaches, and staff, I would like to personally thank each of you for your dedication and commitment to Roswell High School Athletics. This year is a special year for us, lots of changes to our coaching staff and our region alignment but one thing we know for certain is that our Hornets are ready to play and the community is extremely excited to see them out on the athletic fields! What you will be seeing here tonight is a product of a lot of hard work and dedication from both our student athletes and the coaching staff. Under first year head coach Chris Prewett, there is a buzz going around town about the mighty Hornets and what they will accomplish this year. Seeing the lights turn on at the stadium is something that everyone has been anticipating since the March 12th shut down of on campus activities and it is the booster that this community needs! Roswell High School is blessed to have top of the line facilities for all sports programs. Our goal is to maintain our state-ofthe-art facilities to the highest level and grow them where needed. Roswell’s continued success and growth relies upon the involvement of our coaches, staff, and most importantly— our community. We encourage all Roswell Hornet fans to get involved in the development and success of all our sports programs. As an Athletic Director as well as head coach myself, I often reflect on my own experience as a former athlete and recall the impact that my athletic endeavors have had on me both personally and professionally. I believe that some of life’s greatest lessons can be learned through competition and the sacrifices made in being part of a team. I value sportsmanship and integrity and want our athletic program to model these virtues. Likewise, these virtues have to be modeled in the home as well and I want to personally thank all of you for your support in this area. Once again, we thank you for your continued support and for your involvement in our studentathletes’ academic and athletic success. We look forward to continuing to build a winning tradition in Roswell Athletics. Thank you again, and enjoy today’s athletic event!

GO HORNETS! Ben Sutter

Message from Principal Robert Shaw Thank you also to the Roswell High School Touchdown Club. The level of support that our kids get is unprecedented and appreciated. No matter your level of involvement, our parent support is essential. From paying dues, to working in the press box, posting to social media, or helping on the field, the commitment of our parents is crucial. Thank you!

Dear Roswell Community, One of the many reasons that high school sports, and football in general, is so important to the development of our students is that it teaches lifelong lessons. For example, the importance of teamwork, learning to work and succeed with people who may be different than you, and pushing through adversity to reach a goal. Since March of 2020, our entire nation has had to deal with unprecedented adversity. Our school community is no exception. Many Roswell High School faculty, staff, students, and community members have been ill with COVID-19 or, even more heartbreaking, have lost loved ones to this virus. Many people have seen their jobs disappear or have had their lives drastically changed through circumstances that were no fault of their own. As we begin the 20202021 season of Hornet football, I ask that you continue to keep the members of our Roswell family who are suffering in your thoughts and prayers. Despite the difficulties we have faced, here are we are, ready to begin the season. While it will look different than what we are used to, the leadership of Roswell High School knows that it is important to have our student-athletes competing and engaged, although we have to do it in the safest way possible. I want to thank our players. They have been coming to workouts since early this summer and have not only participated, they have followed all the guidelines to keep them safe. I appreciate their dedication and willingness to be the very best they can be. I also want to thank all our coaches. From new head football Coach Chris Prewett and his staff, to the Dads who volunteer with our Junior Hornets, every one of them is appreciated. It is a big commitment to teach and lead our players and they also sacrifice time with their families to work with all our kids. Thank you so much as nothing happens for our players with you!

8 | Roswell Hornets Football

There are also a lot of other people who are involved in making Hornet football exciting and special. Thank you to our JROTC, led by Lt. Col Duplechien and Sgt. David Marino. While they will not be on the field this year, their support is appreciated. We are so glad to welcome our new cheer coach, Rebecca Ogle, as she has taken over our cheer program. Finally, our band is key to the Friday night fun. COVID-19 will prevent the traditional marching band show, but our pep band will be involved and cheering our team on to victory! Thanks to Michael Moon, Michael Long, and our band booster club for their hard work. It is often said that the difference between success and failure is not the circumstances with which you are presented, but how you respond to those circumstance. I am so proud of the effort that so many people have put into helping our 2020-2021 Hornets take the field this year. It may not be what we are used to, but we have overcome adversity in a way that we can all be proud of. I wish all our teams great seasons and I look forward to seeing you in action.

‌ GO HORNETS! Sincerely,

Robert Shaw, Ed. D Principal Roswell High School
