If one is a smoker, then smoking should be stopped at least 2 weeks prior to the surgery. Also, after the surgery, one has to wait again for 2 weeks to start smoking again. This is because the risk of complications is increased due to smoking. Even the healing time can be prolonged, which may also lead to unsightly and large scars. Basically, the results of the surgery would be affected by smoking and this would not do any good. Do not consume alcohol a week before the breast lift surgery. Take time off from work and arrange this beforehand with your employer. Arrange for someone, a family member, relative or a friend to drive you to the clinic or hospital and for picking you up later. After anesthetic, you will be dizzy and tired and in such cases, driving is not advisable. A ‘to do’ list of things that need to be taken care of, should be prepared beforehand. This would include arranging for someone to look after the children, paying important bills, getting ice packs, filling out prescription forms and also for preparing meals.

You would be sore and tired after surgery and so, ask someone in advance, if your everyday tasks can be handled by them. Let them know that this tiredness would last only for a few days. On the day before the surgery, alcohol should not be consumed and one should make sure that she doesn’t drink or eat anything at least 6 hours before the operation. A small case should be packed with nightwear, change of clothes, toiletries, a sleep mask and some magazines and books. An iPod can also be included as it would help you listen to your favorite music.
