The kidneys are responsible for filtering the blood and producing urine. They modulate the fluid balance of the body, and help the body circulate and move liquid, through our entire system. The kidneys support the body in ridding itself of toxins
The urinary bladder is responsible for collecting and holding urine then eliminating waste through peeing. Bio energetically this holding process relates to the emotions of resentments and holding on to what “pisses” us off. It is also related to the emotion of fear and modulating the electric impulses of the nervous system.

Q: Whats The Water Element? A: The Deep Reservoir of existence The core energies of the water element relate to the kidney and bladder and rule the structures of the low back, nervous System, bones and reproductive system. Our DNA and vital energies are infused and modulated by the water element and make up the foundation of the hardness and structures we stand on. Water element underscores our survival and shapes our ability to cutting our teeth on life’s experiences and stand up with the deep courage of the bones. Water element is associated with the season of winter, it is the element that returns us deep into the core of ourselves, where we engage in a relationship with the truth of our value. These foundational energies are the underpinning for our will and power that together combine for the expression of willpower, which allow us to tap into our greatest creative potential through ancestral vital essence and preservation.

The supreme good is like water, which nourishes all things without trying to. It is content with the low places that people disdain. Thus it is like the Tao. In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don’t try to control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present. When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.

The Sea of Marrow A Classic P erspective on
The Brain
Essence or vital source energy is stored and supported by the kidneys and is highlighted during the winter season. Essence holds the alchemical and vibrational framework that can be likened to the underpinning of our DNA. Jing essence is found concentrated in egg and sperm and when united gives rise to the blueprint of new life containing all potential development, purpose, and vitality, that informs growth and maturation throughout life. In the winter time this essence energy is accessed by our awareness though deep inner listening. Through the identification of this source spring that reminds us of the spark that has been with us though eternity, we tap into our greatest potentials. It is that spark that holds the information of our innate pattern language, the vital watery source that resides deep under all our conditioning and adaptations. The core is what remains intact while the dormant season of winter invites us to rest and revitalize. Winter brings us close to natural stages of death and decline watching the seasons pass only to return to growth in the next cycle. When we peel back layers of experience, wisdom and growth the core essence can be identified in each layer and keeps us on track with your path in life.
Inner truth that is left over in a finite form of substance solidifies and is contained as essence, a distillation of our fundamental vitality. The months of winter ask for conservation and inward acts of patients, storage and rejuvenating. The preservation of essence cultivates strength which can later be activated in the years to come and annual return of spring and summer cycles of growth. The manifestation of the essence or blueprint is responsible for the formation of the spine brain and the bone marrow. There is a conceptual understanding of how this essence cascades through the body system and infuses these body systems. That cascading flood of consciousness and vitality is know as “The sea of marrow” The sea of marrow thrives off proper blood volume and hydration, which are also physiological responsibilities of the kidneys. This wave of consciousness and essence assure that our inner foundational energies are supported in the winter time, and that we maintain health and balance of The bones, spine brain and nervous system. Blood delivers nutrients to the deeper structures of the spine and brain and hydration lubricates and supports vitality of the structures.
western sense concentration is seen as a function of the brain., but from a Taoist perspective, this capacity of consciousness is also related to the deeper vibration of our personalities ability to animate our actions and the adherence to our blueprint and core essence as part of our thinking and beliefs. Winter reprieve affords us the stillness and listening to touch into our inner truth and feel and develop awareness of our own inner essence. The essence also modulates our capacity to recall, and focus. The five senses are sharpened and infused with our personality and the clarity of the senses engenders concentration and awareness. The manifestation of the mind, and its brilliance holds a strong connection to the Shen or spirit and converges with the sea of marrow to enlighten the physical structures of the brain, as well as the vital electric activity of the nervous system. Proper circulation of this energy is to supported by physical openness and flexibility in the spine, the hollow cranial spaces and stability of the pelvis. The cultivation of alignment between these spaces has been sought after in the practices of Qi Gong , Taoist yoga and modern studies of cranial sacral therapy and philosophy.
The Sea of marrow also supports the function of memory and concentration. In a

quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character.
Physical and energetic alignment between the spaces within the cranial structure as well as the spine opens up an energetic pathway and channel for the cerebral spinal fluid to move and circulate throughout the brain. In a tangible sense, this cerebral spinal fluid is related to the sea of marrow and plays an important role in overall health and well being. derived from blood plasma, the cerebral spinal fluid is responsible for creating a space of neutral buoyancy around the brain which allows the brain to maintain its density. It is integral for protecting the brain tissue, especially when the body interfaces with impact, it is like a buffer, or shock absorber that reduces or prevents injury from mechanical impact. It helps to prevent brain restriction or constriction that could result in a lack of blood supply or oxygen to the brain, as well as maintaining homeostasis by regulating the distribution of neuroendocrine factors which play a vital role in the regulation of temperature, blood pressure and balance. The Cerebral spinal fluid is integral in clearing waste products from the brain and has a functional relationship to the brain’s lymphatic system. The cerebral spinal fluid is said to play an important role in connection to our spiritual or vibrational energy, as it helps to amplify and broadcast subtle energetic charges and impulses. Because of its watery nature and water being a primary vital energy source CFS has a profound impact on consciousness and is essential to human existence. Blood plasma itself is mostly water making this substance highly conductive. Kundalini energy or energy of the Ren and Du channels or yin and yang impulses travel through the spine and are amplified are conducted through the cerebral spinal fluid. There’s a profound relationship of the spine fluid to the third ventricle of
the brain where a reservoir like space for this fluid emblems and charges the spiritual vibration of the brain. This ventricle connects to the two halves of the brain. And has direct communication to lateral ventricles, the midbrain as well as the hypothalamus and thalamus. An enlarged third ventricle of the brain is associated with different mental or psychiatric states which have clinically been mapped in the illness of schizophrenia or altered states of consciousness. From a western standpoint the study of the brain and its relationship to consciousness is barley scratching the surface but raising vibrations and the bridging of science and spiritual are begging unique questions in the area that the ancients have theorized and mapped out since antiquity. The brain is know to be the “curios” organ and is fundamentally a manifestation or vehicle for our essence to animate our thoughts and actions.
Bai Hui 100 Meetings
Massage and activate this point to connect your brain to the interdemensional dynamics of your place in the universe
Acupuncture maps have given thousands of years of access to Sea of Marrow points that when activated can help harmonize the vitality of the brain and its relationship to higher self and spiritual purpose. Bai Hai or Governing Vessel 20 which translates to 100 meetings, is located the uppermost point of the crown of the head and supports the brain, and any pathologies such as headache, dizziness, or loss of consciousness associated with the head. It is said to calm the spirit and enhance the upward connection to our celestial place within the universe. This is a powerful point to reorient ourselves to our origin and regain focus and intention and infuse that orientation into our nervous system habits and patterns of staying on our path in life. If we have become overwhelmed or disoriented, this point can calm us, and bring us back to our central core while lifting the spirit. It supports in clearing the mind and is essentially like an antenna, connecting us into our divine space within the universe. It is a powerful meditation center to help us carry out our actions with focus and integrity as we move forward on our path
Feng Fu, translates to the “Wind Mansion” is also another access point to the sea of marrow. The anatomical location of this point is at the base of the skull and is a vulnerable places for the active energy of wind to invade the body, and push us off course. This can lead to issues with headaches, neck aches, fogginess, dizziness or even blurred vision. It is at this point where the internal branch of the governing vessel of the body travels inward into the brain. Feng Fu special action on calming the spirit, and is said to be a ghost point and window to sky point reorienting us to heaven. Feng Fu supports overwhelmed compulsive and obsessive thinking, as well recovering from panic or freight. This is known as the most important point for eliminating wind. To understand this you could think of wind disrupting a landscape and shaking things up leaving distraction behind. Whether that be physically creating disruption or mentally or emotionally contributing to disruption. This point is a powerful way to settle internal or external disruption and calm the waters of consciousness.
Rub Feng Fu to help restore balance after a disruption and to bring your brain back to center. This is also a powerful point for clearing invasion of colds and can be used to lower the body temperature with ice

Toxins & The Brain There’s been a silent pandemic sweeping across the brains and consciousness of industrialized societies for generations and its cause is embedded is every aspect of our daily actives. Toxic burden and the impact of the long list of chemicals present in our air, mechanics, personal care products and food has be wreaking havoc on the health of the brain, nervous system and endocrine system showing up as mysterious syndromes of pain, dysfunction and chronic illness. From a Western standpoint, the brain is seen as the control center that runs and reflects all function and states of health within the body. The brain and nervous system plays an important role in communicating with the entire body and contain the egoic expression of our thoughts and beliefs. When the brain is not healthy and bombarded by toxins the breakdowns in communication and tissue function lead to a host of physical illnesses as well as
cognitive decline. This silent pandemic of toxicity is one of our modern public health challenges that is an underlying factor in conditions such as brain fog, depression, headaches, hormonal disorders, cognitive decline, as well as a host of neurological, unexplained symptoms. The brain is divided into different sections that control different parts and functions of the body. The deepest part of the brain, the survival brain, contains the spinal cord and nerves, the brain stem as well as the fluid systems of the body. This part of our survival brain is responsible for the function of the stress and relaxation modes of the body, motor control and various functions of deep seated consciousness. The brainstorm is responsible for dealing with our autonomic functions such as breathing, heart rate, perspiration and sexual arousal and functionally intertwined with threat response, fear and panic states, and the contentment or satiation pathways. The spinal cord and nerves have a dynamic influence on motor control as well as sensory communication from the body to the brain and rule the impulses signaled in the brain connectivity to the body. The survival brain is the oldest part of the brain that deals with our primary behavioral urges for reproduction, hunting and sleeping.
Scientific evidence increasingly indicates a relationship between human health problems and exposure to common
Toxins
The next layer of the brain is the sub cortical or limbic brain, where much of our emotion emotional processing and sensory integration is happening. This regions responsible for deep seated memory consolidation, awareness of self and how consciousness interfaces with stress response and the storage of trauma. This part of the brain receives sensory information and is responsible for alertness and consciousness and bridges the communication between both sides of the brain to create balanced function of right and left brain thinking. The newest or outer layer of the brain is the cortical part of the brain which is literally translated as cortex or bark. The cortex checks in with the rest of the body and is responsible for higher order of thinking including executive function, intelligent decision making, and sensory interpretation. This part of the brain deals with our social emotional function as well as planning, organizing and perception of ourself, physically and energetically within the environment. Toxic insult can have an impact on any parts of the brain or nervous system and modern medical research is beginning to see many different influence of decline and dysfunction as a result of toxicity. Detoxification and antioxidant support plays an important role in brain health by supporting the tissues and electrical function of the brain to enhance the overall capacity for the brain to influence health and well being. Exercise and proper oxygen uptake to increase vascular function and nourishment of the tissues play an important role in brain health as well. Sedentary lifestyle can impact brain health in a negative way, it is recommended that people engage in some sort of aerobic exercise on a daily basis, to support overall function of the brain.

with Ken “The Scientist” on Toxic Burden and Health
In 2014, Ken Swartz, aka “Ken the Scientist” was leading a research laboratory, working on the MOXY fusion reactor. He was looking for ways to maximize the protection of the research team against potential radiation hazards during experimentation. Through his research, he learned about C60 and its radiation protectant properties. He and his team used C60 as an added radiation protectant through the successful completion of the MOXY research project. C60 had significantly improved Ken’s general health during experimentation, so he continued to use C60 afterward. During an annual checkup at his eye doctor, he and his optometrist were quite surprised to discover his dry macular degeneration had disappeared. His optometrist over the course of his many decades of practice had never seen this occur. Over time, C60 also helped heal nerve damage he had incurred from years of dirt biking and other athletic activities. He then started to share the product with friends, family and various health practitioners in the Denver/Boulder, CO metro area. In 2016, C60purplepower.com was launched. Ken has been a regular guest on various internet shows and is the co-host of The C60 Show (check out The C60 Show podcast), where he and co-host, Sierra Samuel, discuss various health and wellness topics.

Mind
...Control ?
Mind Control or brainwashing has become a major topic of debate through the current status of our political and social structures that are rolling out in response to the changes happening on a mass level. From confusion, to fake news and divisive issues flooding the headlines, truth has become debatable. The cornerstone of the argumentative climate currently being navigated is taking us into a deep dive of the psychology of fear, control and information bias leaving people heads spinning in circles or cemented in nicely constrained packages of thought not to be challenged or disrupted. Brainwashing is the understanding of certain psychological influences and their impact on the mind or its ability to think and contain belief systems and concepts.
and socialized into the fabric of our reality. What our thought simulate together congeal and become the manifestation of the landscape of our waking existence.
Acts of mind control include the use of persuasion, thought reform, thought control, and processes of re education and even assimilation. These mechanisms are geared at reducing individual or group capacity to maintain free thought and orient to internal source of original thought. Mind control efforts limit individual critical thinking, as well as independent beliefs and thinking outside of the box or going against the social grain or cultural expectations.
Modern social problems, such as sex trafficking and cult followings that rob people of their physical and financial potentials also utilize the underpinning of brainwashing and mind control tactics to alter people’s sense of self and beliefs to follow and agree to participating in devastating acts and behaviors. Psychological warfare, another flavor of mind control, has been used to change people’s beliefs, values, motives, and reasoning, through emotional manipulation. Psychological warfare or PsyOps are though our tactical approaches geared towards governments, individuals, as well as groups to force agendas and social outcomes.
A change in attitude values and belief systems has a dynamic impact on all physical material of the body, which can actually result in structural and metabolic changes in our physiology and form. The individual adapts to beliefs by modeling their metabolic or physical function to reflect changes as a physical manifestation of those factors. We essentially are what we think. Group and individual behavior is also influenced by attitudes and values, and the knowledge that is present within certain belief systems is the underpinning of how social trends and experiences of normalcy manifest in our cultural environments. We become the currents of our collective reality and form in to waves of thoughts and behavior, bandwagons are championed
Throughout history, mind control and brainwashing tactics have been used, politically, to press agendas forward for the re formation of societies thinking. Experimentation processes and propaganda has been embedded into political agendas throughout history. From the Chinese Maoist attempts at right thinking, or the psychological warfare used on prisoners of war, to the CIA’s MK Ultra experiments and the evolution of Nazi practices of alteration of human consciousness by using LSD and mescaline to observe people’s thinking and consciousness.
From the now ever popular debate about fake news or the inter woven cultural media propaganda that has been pushing agendas of agreed upon ideals; we have seen the cultural fabric of our American existence shaped by the media culture for generations and its impact on our ideologies, as well as our self image. When you follow the money towards media ownership and the relationship of advertisers and their common denominator of thought the trail reveals the strategy of forcing narratives.

The rise of “influencer” culture also illustrates a journey into psychological influence rooted in self image and pop culture bandwagon and tends that in turn become simple minded thinking and behavior traits en-grained in cultural relevancy of the who’s who. Media bias historical pushes agendas with no objectivity and playing upon the guilt, hope, love and fear of individuals inner chemistry. Divisiveness, identity politics
and curated realities of information are now shaping the social tones of conversation and contemplation at reminders central to popular belief, conversations and the ever present Facebook debates and arguments playing out alert by alert pinging the conscious attention of the American mind state. Looking at American politics and culture, as well as the current social norms that have evolved through our changing times have illustrated, more than ever, an ideological polarization that has been perpetuated throughout generations of forced agendas and thinking norms, victim consciousness and information overload. These constructs play upon the deepest parts of our human psyche and people are left wondering what to think how to think. Now days if you’re a critical thinker you’re deemed a conspire theorist or nut job, and the room for diverse thought and constructive dialogue is shrinking though the platform of social medias confirmation bias algorithms as common discourse devolves to cognitive dissonance.

During this winter season as we tap into the inner truth of the self we are naturally contracting into the core resources of what we as individuals, define ourselves by, and perpetuate through our survival and creative pursuits. The sifting and unpacking of mental and emotional attachments, is an arduous task that draws the psyche through a tunnel of influence and experience, coupled with trauma and turbulent expressions, all centered into the culmination of who we define ourselves to be. The winter season brings us inward before the birth of spring to celebrate the experience and expression of silence and inner listening. As we swim in a sea of information in this media age and Internet influencer the journey to that silence and inner truth is getting much more crowded by the voices of cultural conditioning. Now more than ever, there is value in media detoxification and observing and exploring your media diet, recognizing this fundamental influence on our consciousness opens up a can of worms that each individual must sift through with a barometer of their own truth guiding the way. Knowledge of self that lies underneath all of the influences, attitudes and beliefs systems is a place where an awakening sense of authenticity, allows us to be okay as outliers, and capable of understanding each others authenticity, with a more open heart and mind creating a sense of connection that we deeply need and fundamental are carving for our survival . The ideological polarization that we face today in our culture, may be one of the biggest challenges to finding unity and commonality with one another as the lines begin to become thicker, the black darkening and the white lightning, It’s either or thinking that will continue to conquer and divide us as people. The 2020-2021 winter time has provided us a particularly powerful natural approach to dormant inner listening and inner reflection with the restrictions of external control and re-
evaluations we are all doing. Winter season helps us year after year to get in touch with the deeper truth within the self preparing us for the transition into the spring season that abounds us with the warming weather and melting snow. Winter inner knowing and wisdom reflections invite in spring as the time to organize and structure our lives, our attitudes, our beliefs, as well as our actions and begin to sew the seeds of our existence, in a way that is aligned with that truth. Clinically over the years. One of the biggest keys I have seen people find within themselves is the foundational truth and knowledge of self that lies underneath all as the programming and co opted beliefs, values and hardwired motives of reasoning that has arisen within them as a coping mechanism life has taught them. We move though our cycles adopting identities and learn to uphold self image distortions that come along with our internalized identities. Our Societies, parents, relationship and the media and political agendas become the influencing factors held in our sprees of understanding that shape us. In response we choosing jobs that don’t fit us, relationships that fulfill some external expectation, and a degraded relationship to our self worth and truth. Propaganda plays upon our emotional intelligence and persuades us to sew its influence into all our life experience creating who we think ourselves to be. It is the unmasking and untying of the puppet strings or shearing of the beliefs held in the warm wool sheep layers of comfort we wear that engenders an inner liberation that nature is calling for us to awaken in our selves, our communities and institutions as to usher in new systems and structures for the evolution of thinking and information in this new dawn of potential we face globally.
How to: UN-Control Your Mind 1. Knowledge of self.
Maintain and consistently seek a deeper understanding of your own inner knowledge of self though recognizing your family history, culture, and the social expectations that were given to you. Through this journey towards knowledge of self the art of unpacking and whittling down what remains as authentic and valuable in the core of who you are is a constant journey of mastery. When you have knowledge of self external influences doesn’t shake your core or corrupt its truth.
2. Emotional Intelligence.
Check in with emotional experiences in your life and observe your history of emotional tendencies. Recognizing how emotions tie into concepts of guilt, hope, and love will help you understand any overly stimulated emotional state that perpetuate and influence behavior, or the disrupt the inner terrain of your consciousness. Recognizing that fear is about survival and help us stay alive by protecting ourselves from danger. Illogical perception of fear is one of the strongest resources of mind control and propaganda. Fear when pathologically felt or experienced creates a crippling restriction within our consciousness that freezes our ability to move forward and act with strength and integrity. Learning how to work with emotional states and authenticate their influence over your health and behavior is key to mental liberation
3. Check in with your reality.
Be a critical thinker and observe the dynamics of the experience of what’s going on around you, what is true and what is not true. When you feel a charge of emotion or a dominance of a thought pattern work to develop skills to step outside of those experiences and check in, logically with what’s happening.
4. Rewriting Consciousness.
Adopt the process of investigating old belief systems and values that are worn out, or holding you back, creating restriction in your personal physical or emotional growth, emotional states. Recognizing the mechanics of the ”Biology of Belief” and learning how to harmonize and master your neurological, endocrine and neurotransmitter pathways. Learning to create new states of being through clearing old belief systems and emotional attachments to building new behaviors and new beliefs that replace the old facilitated pathways.
5. Engage in mindfulness.
Finding a time to cultivate a relationship to a mindfulness practice such as meditation breath. Qi Gong or Yoga. Allowing yourself the time dedicated to this training is a powerful self healing mechanism that will help you unpack and rewrite your consciousness. Training your mind regularly will infuse all of your wakeful experiences with an authentic mindfulness that permeates your experiences of interaction. When you are mindful and aware, thoughts, ideas and beliefs that are not yours or that are being imposed upon you will be easily rejected or questioned.
6. Remember you have choice.
Through awareness, checking in and through the mastery of your own mindfulness, you can recognize the ability to create change in your behavior and thoughts by making choices that are authentic to you. Taking time to rewrite and adopt these choices you become new states of health. Regularly checking in with the choices you’re making or thoughts you are internalize that become choices on a daily basis will hep you stay on track and to reject thought forms that art yours or don’t serve you leaving space to expand upon your own authentic reasoning and truth.

Meditation & The Mind
Mindfulness and meditation has a powerful impact on the plasticity of the brain by helping enhance clear thought and evolve our consciousness by cleaning up toxic thought patterns. Meditation has been shown to help preserve the process of aging and its impact on the brain. It has been noted that meditators who partake in mindfulness activities for an average of 20 years have more grey matter density throughout their entire brain. Meditation is dynamic in reducing the recursive monkey mind thinking, and sending people into wandering thought patterns, which can lead to people being less happy or more worrisome about the past and future creating undue stress and adaptive patterns. Meditation helps people become more resilient against the negative impacts of stress and has a powerful effect on wellbeing. It has been seen that meditation is found to increase the physical thickness of the hippo campus, which governs learning and memory and certain aspects of emotional regulation and self awareness. This can lead to increase mood and happiness and a deepened sense of self. Meditation is shown to reduce anxiety through altering stress levels, physically and mentally and has a beneficial impact on depression.
Active meditation supports training the mind to increase focus and consciousness, which has a powerful impact on symptoms of depression almost equal to the effect of anti depressants. Evolving bodies of research are showing that meditation has a dynamic impact on self control areas of the brain, which help with addiction and craving. This has a dynamic impact on the brain particularly looking at the impact of substance abuse or behavioral addictive patterns and their influence on thinking or physical functioning of the brain. It is noted that meditation can dynamically increase children’s interest in school, and evolve growth of the developing brain, while helping children cope with stress or trauma. The cognitive and emotional benefits of meditation have also shown a correlation to a decrease in suspensions and increase in attendance and educational outcomes. It is noted from a Taoist perspective that the clarity of mind found in meditation, allows the practitioner to maintain a dynamic relationship to their higher or cosmic self which then imprints physical functioning, and activities with a more authentic alignment to fundamental truth. The ability to maintain this clarity and have inner locus of control over a thought and overwhelming state of emotional influxes provides individuals with a deepest sense of self awareness and connection to potential and original thought.
Winter time is the time for inner listening. Silent like the stillness of a snow blanketed landscape with quiet flakes falling from the sky, solitude comes with soft sounds of nothingness during this time of year. Winter invites us focus our attention inward, making space to slow down and listen to the inner voice that remains after the seasons of growth and decline have passed year by year. The water element rules the sense of hearing naturally contacting us to the core of our inner terrain and source. The kidneys are highlighted in winter as the yin organ of the water element. If you look at the anatomical structure of the kidneys, it looks similar to the shape of the ear. The kidneys, open to the orifice of the ear, and modulate the function of hearing. Each of our senses have a subtle and natural function that illustrate the way they shape our perception of the world around us. The subtle sense of hearing relates us to listening to our inner wisdom, or the capacity to have clairaudient messages and awareness of deep knowing that comes from a more refined sense or perception. When things get quiet in the wintertime, this active intuitive listening is heightened and great reminders of truth are enhanced. If you listen closely with an open heart messages are heard in the subtle breath of the wind, or the quite reprieve reflected upon on a snowy winter day. The ability to hear your own inner voice activates inner truth and allows that truth to inform the actions we take. Winter is a time of natural contraction with lessened activity, if we are living by the rhythms of nature we only need to act on things of the utmost necessity that are motivated by acts of storage, preservation and enhancing of authenticity and uniqueness. To know the self intimately requires inner listening and the courage to go inward with our senses.
When we can follow the rhythm of the season, and behave in the way that nature guides us things get very still and quiet during the winter time. As things slow down there is less to distract us and less to filter out leaving space for the sense of hearing to be clarified. The natural sense of hearing represents the capacity to physically hear and the clarity of our perception of what we hear. Physical listening alerts us to where we are in space, as the sense of hearing and the inner ear is deeply connected to balance and the reference points of what distance is between us and the built, or natural environment around us. Sound waves bounce between the structures of physical space and orient us to our place within our physical environment. The sense of hearing and its orientation to our physical place within space connects us to the art of knowing where we are at all times. Hearing coordinates a deeper subtle inner knowing of being in the right place at the right time or recognizing where we fit into the environment around us harmoniously. We are also alerted to danger through sound and rely on the clarity of our understanding of what we hear as a primary source of communication and survival. The sense of hearing comes with great capacity for clarity and wisdom. We give and receive information though listening and the projection of our voice into an audible refection of our thoughts and ideas. Hearing can be easily disrupted through the distortions of the messages and sounds that we bring into our ears and the soundscapes that surround us. The sounds of the environment we live in is constantly imparting information into our consciousness. The waves of traffic and alerts of horns, or panic and screams of sirens offer the background soundtrack to urban dwellers. Foot traffic, boring pop music between grocery store isles and the rhythmic tones of beeps and alerts are

Inner Listening
conveyed though the airwaves of life as we navigate the space, streets and places of interaction we act in. The tone of our voice and the voices of those we engage with become the framework for our inner listening , its critics and the doubts and beliefs alike which are learned tapes we play on repeat in our heads. The sound of a mothers soothing shhhhhh or the tone of an angry father asserting his boundaries become words of strength or fault that shape our inner world of listening and dialogue. The teachers authority or societies rhetoric tuned up and packaged perfectly to penetrate inside our thoughts though the morning news blended in thought he memories were told as histories bias and blends of fact and fiction become the voice in between our ears dictating the tone of inner truth. Winter yearns for listening softly to our inner being. A time we can be honest with what we hear as dedication to silence allows for non hearing, and inner listening. Pathological aspects or disordered function in the sense of hearing or the ear can include issues like tinnitus, or ringing in the ears deafness, the developed selective hearing, infection, improper drainage or pressure balance and movement or balance dysfunction. Daily silent meditation in winter allows us time to gain clarity with our selves and unpack or unwind the recordings that have been on repeat in our subconscious voice that may have been showing up as subtle ring or hum, a distraction holding us back or convincing us of something else than our truth.

Minerals are essential nutrients they include the more well known like calcium, magnesium and iron as well as lesser known players like sulfur, molybdenum and manganese. These nutrients are needed to support hundreds of biochemical processes in the body – from muscles contraction to thyroid function to the development of health sperm and egg, minerals truly do it all. Ideally, humans get the minerals they need from the food they eat.

Trace minerals:
Zinc, iron, iodine, selenium, manganese, chromium, iodine and molybdenum play impart roles in growth and development , digestion, cell formation hormonal balance and energy metabolism
Minerals are found in the soil, absorbed by plants and assimilated into the bodies of the animals that ate those plants. We also eat minerals directly – consider salt which contains essential minerals sodium and chloride. When folks are low in minerals they may even start to experience pica – the desire to eat mineral rich items not typically considered food – craving dirt or chalk. The desire to chew on ice can also be a sign that minerals are low. Other clinical signs related to low minerals include muscle twitches, cramping and restless legs, insomnia and anxiety, hair loss and weak nails, dizziness and fatigue - truly the list goes on and on.
A varied diet rich in minimally processed plant foods and well-raised animal products should provide the minerals needed in the diet. However, most folks would benefit from seeking out specific opportunities to add mineral rich foods to the diet. This is especially true for growing children, pregnant and nursing people and folks doing strenuous physical activity. One way to easily get more minerals is to upgrade from table salt to sea salt – experiment with a few varieties from grey Himalayan to pink Hawaiian, all will have a slightly different mineral profile. Seaweed is another great way to get minerals in the diet, it is an especially rich source
of iodine. This is critically important when folks are no longer using iodinated table salt (which is fortified with iodine) in favor of sea salt which does not have iodine added. I recommend getting a few varieties of seaweed flakes that can be sprinkled on almost any food – the flavor is quite mild and most folks would benefit from a daily dose of seaweed. Another great way to supplement your mineral intake is with herbal infusions and broths. An herbal infusion differs from in tea in that in herbal infusions the amount of herb used is greater and the amount of time steeping is longer. This larger volume of herbs and longer steep time allows for a significant amount of minerals to be
extracted from the herb. Typical herbs for mineral rich infusions include nettles, alfalfa, red clover and oatstraw. Notice many of these herbs are considered weeds and grow abundantly, providing inexpensive access to a wealth of minerals. When it comes to broths, the possibilities are endless. A simple approach is to keep some prepared miso paste in your fridge and add a tablespoon to a cup of boiling water – stir and sip. Bone broth is well known for being rich in minerals, drawing out the mineral stores from the animal bones with a long slow cooking process. I also love famed nutritionist Rebecca Katz and her Magic Mineral Broth, this veggie
bones with a long slow cooking process. I also love famed nutritionist Rebecca Katz and her Magic Mineral Broth, this veggie rich staple is both delicious and nourishing, the recipe is easily found on the Internet. Broths lend themselves easily to a slow cooker and certainly require no specific recipe. In my house, we collect leftover bones, veggies scraps, food that is on the brink of going bad and throw it all into a bag in the freezer. Once we accumulate enough materials, we place the, in the slow cooker, cover with water, add in some extras like seaweed, garlic, and whatever herbs are available and let the magic unfold. Adding a dash of something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice is thought to support more mineral release (especially from bone), so feel free to add that as well. Strain, season with sea salt to taste and there you have it. This winter season, consider adding in these mineral rich preparations into your daily routine. Savor a cup of broth with breakfast, wind down with an herbal infusion – invite some extra minerals into your life and enjoy!

Basic Beef Bone Stock
2-4 lbs of bones (knuckle, marrow, oxtail, feet) 1 gallon water 2-3 tbs Apple Cider Vinegar Rough chopped Onion & Garlic Rough chopped herbs, celery and carrot Salt and pepper to taste
Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and place on low for 12-24 hours. You can also cook over a low flame covered on the stove, bring all ingredients to a boil then simmer for 12-24 hours. You may consider skimming the fat after 12 hours if the bones you are using have a lot of fat. I find that cooking the broth in stages provides nuance of flavor that can be played with to achieve desired flavor profile. I prefer to add in the celery, carrot and herbs the last 3 hours of the cooking process. The apple cider vinegar helps to pull mineral out of the bones and provides a nice acid balance to the flavor. Cool in glass and store, skimming hardened fat off and use for later cooking needs. Store for up to 5 days in refrigerator or freeze for later use. Variations: Consider balsamic vinegar or red wine as an additional acid balance and varying flavor addition for a deep richness great as an underpinning to an Italian Bolognese sauce. Clove, anise, apple, cinnamon, cardamom pods and coriander as a flavor profile is the basis for traditional Vietnamese PHO Fresh Oregano, Thyme, cayenne pepper, onion, garlic, black pepper corns and celery added to the stock while cooking will make a great base for Cajun gumbo. Roast bones with salt and pepper at 325 degrees for 30 min prior to cooking to add in a richness of flavor. Depending on favor profile you can try drizzling the bones with balsamic vinegar or lathering with tomato paste while roasting to add a depth of flavor. This will create a dense flavor great for sipping or adding in medicinal herbs for healing. Bone broth is a wonderful vehicle to cook raw Chinese herbs as a medicinal tonic which I add in the last 1-2 hours depending on my individual or family needs. Talk with your Chinese Medicine provider about your unique needs and consider a raw herb formula for constitutional balance added into you broth to be enjoyed over a season.

Heat cool then strain. At this point you can return the broth to the pit and add in varying ingredients or proceed with a soup. Stir in glass containers and skim fat after cooled. Add in 1/4-1/2 c soy sauce, dried kombu and ginger as a base for ramen soup or Asian soups Add in rosemary , thyme, sage and oregano for a traditional chicken soup, bonus for sick days add in ginger to the base then after straining ad din fresh grated ginger and garlic a few moments before serving or into bowls before you ladle soup in for a antiviral mega boost of healing! Add in lemon grass, Thai chili (to taste be careful!!) and onion for the base of Thai soups. Substitute this broth for the water used to make Tom Yum or Tom Kha soup for a depth of nourishing flavor. Chicken stock is a staple in the kitchen!! Use in cooking rice, braising vegetables, making sauce, in slow cooker recipes, risottos, or as an afternoon snack!
Traditional Chicken Soup: 10-12 cups homemade chicken stock 1 large onion chopped 1/4 inch pieces 5-6 carrots sliced 4-5 ribs of celery sliced 3-4 cloves of garlic chopped Meat of chicken breast and thighs left over from making stock Salt and pepper to taste Extra garlic or fresh garlic to bowls and ladle hot soup over for extra immune boosting fresh ginger to taste for spice and immune boosting Dried chili peppers or fresh for spice and dispersing effects Additional vegetables could include seasonal root veggies or mushrooms. Do not disturb the yang go to rest early and rise late you must wait for the sun to shine. Let the mind enter a state as if hidden as if you had secret intentions as if you had already made gains
Avoid cold and seek warmth and do not allow to flow away through the skin. This would cause the Qi to be carried away quickly. This is the correspondence with the qi of the winter and it is the way of nourishing storage
