SHOW# 1 Elle Flaig
Hello my name is Elle Flaig and this is my fourth year showing steers. I love playing hockey and writing stories. This year my project is a red baldy Simmental. My main focus this year with Wafi was having him halter broke early in the year and feeding him lots of feed to get him nice and heavy. Wafi has been my favourite steer I’ve ever worked with because of his calm demeanour and is very friendly. Wafi has lots of meat on his bones that will make nice juicy streaks. He will not disappoint!
Sloan Walker
SHOW# 2
My name is Sloan Walker and I am almost 14 years old. I have loved High Steaks this year because I am one of the older kids and am proud of my Homegrown Steer Demetrius. I am just about finished grade 8 & along with High Steaks/Cattle I spend alot of my days at Rodeos & playing basketball. This year I pulled my Pro Card to ride Steers in Western Canada Professionally and am working to make the Candian Finals Rodeo! My steer profits will help get me down the road and i will be advertising my Steer Buyer as a Sponsor on my Rodeo gear for the rest of the season. So if you buy Demetrius i will market your business as a Sponsor for me! My steer Demetrius is out of our Polly bloodlines. Demetrius is finished and ready to fill someone’s Freezer.
Austin Cartright
SHOW# 3
My name is Austin Cartwright. I am 14 years old and this is my second year in the High Steaks Junior Beef Club. I am very impressed with my steer Thriller. He started the fall with a crazy eating habit that hasn’t slowed down. Working on him this winter was a real thrill. With all of his natural spice you won’t need marinade. He will make a great addition to your freezer.
Logan Matthews
SHOW# 4
My name is Logan Matthews and my steers name this year is Phoenix. He is a full brother to my sisters High Steaks steers in 2022 and 2021. We have shown Phoenix all spring and even a few shows last fall and was just awarded the Grand Champion Steer at the South Central Spring Classic last weekend. Phoenix is a super hairy, has tons of muscle and is really cool! Thank you to all those who supported and bought High Steaks beef last year.
Kashton Ziebarth
SHOW# 5
Kashton is a huge animal lover and loves to play hockey and rope. He is 14 years old and in Grade 8. Kashton just qualified for his 3rd Alberta Junior High Rodeo Provincial Finals in Boys Goat Tying, Ribbon Roping, Team Roping and Chute Dogging. Kashton Won the Reserve Team Roping Champion for all of Alberta qualifying for the Canadian & National Junior High Rodeo Finals. Kashton enjoys working with his Steer & Juicy has been a great steer and hasn’t missed a feeding since we got him! Kashton plans to invest if there is a profit from the sale of his steer.
SHOW# 7 Brock Steckly
My name is Brock, and I am 13 years old. I live west of Carstairs with my family. This is my first year doing a heifer project along with a steer project. My heifer’s name is Barbara, and I purchased her from Diamond T Cattle Co. My steers name is Bro, and he is a big super quiet friendly guy. I also enjoy horseback riding my horse Chum, playing hockey, and hunting.
SHOW# 6 Zach Flaig
Hi my name is Zach Flaig and this is my third year in High steaks jr beef club. I have been visiting Harvie in his pen twice a day to hand feed him to make sure he is the best possible finished weight. I have also been spending many hours get him show ready. I want to thank Kolb’s Fine meats for buying my steer last year
London Matthews
SHOW# 8
My name is London Matthews my steer project this year is named Oakey and we have a had a great year already together. I have been showing Oakey as much as I can since October last year and we have taken home 9 Grand Champion titles and 2 Reserves. Oakey has been the best steer I have ever owned and has the coolest attitude. Thank you to everyone for the support of the High Steaks program.
SHOW# 9 Stella Mader
My name is Stella Mader and I just turned 13 years old. High Steaks Junior Beef Club is my favorite group of people! We learn so much from Marketing, giving needles, showmanship and I have learnt the most this year about fitting and show ring presentation! I hope to invest some earnings into show supplies, more show cattle and my education. I have a huge passion for cattle, when I am not helping my parents with ranching activities, I love to work with my show cattle!! I also like to work with all the Mader Ranches cattle for shows and sales! I am excited for this years Show & Sale!
Layne Liesemer
SHOW# 10
This is Laynes 3rd year in the high steaks club. His steer project Hub 2.0 is a full brother to his last years project Sir Hub. Both have proven to be almost identical in nature and a dream to work with. Layne would like to thank his previous buyer Lochend energy services and invites everyone to bid with confidence that 2.0 will be just as good on the BBQ as the Original.
Karsen Van Sickle

My favorite things in life ALL include farming, most days if i’m not in school you’ll find me out and about on the farm, i’ll either be helping mom with the cows, dad in the peterbilt/quadtrac/ or the ol’ John Deere, or working with my show cattle. Thank you to Evans Law & Healthy Family Chiropractic for purchasing my steer last year, I look forward to working with this year’s buyer(s) on my Home Grown 100% Angus steer.
Tinley Harvie

Tinley is excited for another year completed in the HSJBC. Her learning highlights included; how needle and castrate cattle properly. Her speech was on the nutritional value and taste of Beef which went over very well with the crowd. Tinley has enjoyed going around town to invite business owners and friends to the show and sale. Tinley would be interested in adding your business logo to her rodeo shirts when competing in rodeos across Alberta this year and next if this suits you! Tinley loves fast horses the ranch life and being an active part of our community.

I want to thank Kolb’s Fine Meats and Sausage for the support for our club and also purchasing my steer last year. We were fortunate to have Kirk Stierwalt for a day clinic. I learned so much and my new goal is to purchase a purebred heifer and go to Junior shows and start my own herd. Thank you to all the sponsors and parents that make this club what it is. If I am not with my show cattle I am found out on the back of my horse at a rodeo or working cattle at the ranch. I am very grateful for all who have helped and supported me with my cattle goals.
Harper Walker

I’m Harper! I am almost 12 years old and i love all things Cows, Rodeo & Friends! Grant is an Angus X Charolais steer that bought from Innisfail Auction when Grant Daines called and said they had a good silver steer come through the gate!. He was so quiet from day 1 and has been a great friend of mine in my 3rd year with a steer. I am running FCA, CARA & Crooked Horn Rodeo Associations along with Jr High School Rodeo so my steer profits will help get me down the road. With this, I will be advertising my Steer Buyer as a Sponsor on my Rodeo gear for the rest of the season. I will market your business as a Sponsor for me for this Season if you purchase Grant!
Isabella Schierman

My name is Isabella Schierman and I am 10 years old and this is my third year in High Steaks. This year my steer’s name is Frank the Tank, he is a Sim/Angus steer, that was home grown from our herd. I have gotten a lot stronger and have been way more hands on with Frank and have had so much fun with my friends in High Steaks. Thank you to my last year steer buyers, Stampede Steel, McLeod Livestock, Bullseye Feeds and Crossfield Kal Tire.
SHOW# 16 Kaislee Ziebarth
Kaislee loves horses, Junior Rodeo and Barrel Racing. She loves all the rodeo events and has started team roping. She is 11 years old and in Grade 5. Kaislee enjoys working with her Steer and she is looking forward to a summer of riding her horses Dash & Elmo . Kaislee’s 3rd year with a Market Steer has been good with lots of learning. Her steer was awesome to work with and had a lot of hours spent working with Bingo. Next year her goal is to do more clipping & Fitting. Kaislee may buy her first heifer or just save her earnings for a horse one day.
Hawkin Mader

Hello, my name is Hawkin and I am 10 years old. This is my favorite time of year, show season! High Steaks Show and Sale is always a highlight, because I get to show off all my hard work and spend time with all my friends who love cattle too. This year I have worked hard at feeding my projects and learning how to fit a back leg! Soon enough my parents can retire from the fitting crew at all the big shows, me and my sister can take it from here! I also love the show ring and introducing new people to the idea of our club. Come out and see us show this weekend!
Devin Steckly

My name is Devin and I am ten years old, and this is my third year is HSJBC. I live on a bison farm west of Carstairs with my family. This is my first year doing both a heifer project along with a steer project. My heifer’s name is Summer, and she is a purebred black angus I purchase from Diamond T Cattle Co. My steer’s name is Neville and I purchased him from Harvie Ranching. I enjoy playing hockey, snowboarding, and riding my horse Player.
SHOW# 18 Chick Harvie
My name is Chick Harvie, I am 10 years old and this is my 3rd year in the club. This year, I will be selling my steer “JOKER”. Joker is a home raised black baldy steer that I’ve worked hard to halter break, getting him show ready for the spring junior shows. My favorite event our beef club put on this year was having a world renown cattle fitter, Mr. Kirk Stierwalt from Oklahoma, USA come to our ranch for the day to give our club members a fitting demonstration and help us with our showmanship. I’m an avid hunter and love to show cows!
Wyley Schmitt

My name is Wyley, I am ten years old and this is my second year as a junior beef member. My steers name is Rogers, he’s named after Captain America. He is a charolais x that has been gentle and easy to raise. I hope to see you at the sale!
Gracie Bohrson

My name is Gracie Bohrson and I just turned 10 years old and this is my third year in the High Steaks Junior Beef Club. I love being in this club with my friends and I’m very proud of my steer and heifer this year. My steer, Elton John is cool haired, good looking, quiet and the best steer I’ve ever had. Past showing cattle, I also like playing hockey, softball, camping and spending time with friends and family. Thanks to my past steer buyers Alta/Davis Rairdan/McLeod last year and Crossfield Agencies my first year.
22 Mara Flaig
This is my second year in the high steaks jr beef club. Moose is a very friendly and quiet steer who has been easy to work with. Moose is a home grown steer so I have been able to work with him and watch him grow from the minute he hit the ground. I look forward to meeting you at show and sale so you can see how great Moose is.

This year I named my steer Marshmallow because he is soft, squishy & sweet, but one unique thing about my steer is he has a crooked nose. My hobbies include hanging out with my friends at cattle shows, jumping on the trampoline, & swimming. I would like to thank last year’s buyer of my steer Jennifer Millit & look forward to meeting my 2023 buyer(s) of this Marshmallow.
Ainsley Van Sickle

This year so far in High Steaks i’ve had so much fun, i’ve been able to go to a few extra spring shows with members of the club & my heifer “Snuggles’’. I am excited to attend a few summer shows this year & hang out with members of HSJBC, summer shows are the BEST! But my steer this year “Maverick” is very quiet & he has given me lots more confidence. Be sure to check him out on sale day, as he is the “Top Gun”. I would personally like to thank last year’s buyers Warrior Concrete for purchasing Olaf, & I am excited to see who purchases Mav in 2023.
SHOW# 25 Lyla Harvie
Lyla had a unique experience this year when she went to purchase her steer. She had the opportunity to sort through 1000 pairs on pasture at Simpson Ranch Ltd. near Cochrane to take her pick! It took two visits and Hippy Jones was found. He has been an eager eater, easy to handle, excellent conformation with amazing hair. Lyla has shown Hippy Jones successfully this year. Lyla’s passions are showing cattle, playing soccer and hanging out with her yellow lab, Violet.
SHOW# 26 Hailey Liesemer
Hailey brings her second High steaks project to the show and sale this year. PO is a purebred Simmental named after the KungFu panda movies main star.
PO is extremely gentle natured as that is Hailey’s number one selection process in the fall. PO was so easy to halter break that after only being tied up once she was able to lead him (some what) Hailey extends great gratitude to her previous years buyer Hildebrand motors.
SHOW# 27 Owen Flaig
Hi I am Owen and this is my first year ever with a show steer. My favourite sport is hockey and my favourite position is goalie. I would like to thank my big sister Elle for all of her help and tips to get Ryder and I fully prepared and here to show and sale day.
28 Thomas Bohrson
My name is Thomas Maverick Bohrson and this is my first year in High Steaks. This year I learnt more about showing, grooming and marketing cattle through the club. Showing cattle with my friends is fun and I especially like winning prize money and awards at shows. I also play lacrosse, hockey, ski, parkour, swim and enjoy camping with friends and family. My steer French Fry is the first steer I’ll show and sell and I like him because he is really quiet and is a good quality steer.
SHOW# 29 Piper Steckly
My name is Piper Steckly, and this is my first year in HSJBC. I am 7 years old, and I live on a farm with my three brothers and parents west of Carstairs. My first steer Buck Russel died this year and I purchased a new steer from Harvie Ranching. The Harvie Family worked so hard, so I have a super nice steer as my replacement. I play hockey and ride my pony Diego in my spare time.
SHOW# 30 Gentry Harvie
My name is Gentry Harvie, I am 7 years old and in Grade 2. This is my first year in High Steaks and I’m loving it!! My homegrown Simmental steer is named “HANGMAN” because he was a little tricky to halter break. After a lot of hard work in the barn getting him quiet enough to wash and lead him around, we were able to take him to a few spring junior shows where we managed to win our class. It’s been a great year in the club working together with my fellow members and making new lifelong friends. I’d like to thank all the parents for helping us to help make this event a success!
High Steaks Beef Club Steer
This year our members purchased a steer from Colt Needham’s family to raise as our club steer. The proceeds of selling the club steer are to help the kids with expenses to run the club throughout the year. Please consider this steer to fill your freezer and help the kids & club!
