Conscious & Comprehensive Artistry For Our Homes THE
Boll & Branch brings a more conscious and comprehensive artistry into our homes.
We believe that beauty is found when identifying the importance of everything. Our ethos requires us to unravel and examine each detail of what we make and how it’s made.
Everything is considered, or nothing at all; this is what gives an object its deepest value.
Passed through the hands of each farmer and artisan involved, our fabrics and products elegantly weave together comfort, style, the planet, and ethics to set a new standard in how we live.
THE IMPACT REPORT Introduction
BOLL & BRANCH STANDARD 3
From Our Founders
For generations, the bedding industry has been mired in undifferentiated sameness that left everyone from cotton farmers to customers feeling marginalized. From our beginning, we’ve believed that, to make better bedding, we had to rethink everything—from the cotton seed to the final stitch. Every one of our products has a label with the words “Established Different” beneath our logo. We were founded in 2014, but we stand for the idea we founded ourselves on: be different and make a difference. Our label is a constant reminder of our mission.
What you’ll see in our 10-year Impact Report is how reinventing processes and systems has taken us down a road less traveled. Two core principles underpin all we do: we started as pioneers in 100% organic cotton, and use the same uncompromising standards for every material we work with today; and we
create opportunities for partners to thrive alongside us, never wavering in our commitment to fair and ethical treatment for all.
A decade later, this system of doing things differently to make something better has become a force multiplier. With our community of 170 Dream Teamers, 22,000 factory workers, and millions of customers, we share a values system and a passion for what’s different. While I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish these past 10 years, I’m energized by what we can all do together in the decades to come.
We built Boll & Branch differently, and I hope our success inspires others to do the same.
SCOTT TANNEN
Founder & CEO
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.”
Robert Frost, Excerpt From “The Road Not Taken”
It brings me such joy to present our Impact Report. At Boll & Branch, we have this saying: make the right choice, not the easy choice. It’s our litmus test for quality, and doing right by everyone who touches our product. Our customers, our employees, and our farmers and artisans all deserve the best we can deliver in comfort and care.
I’m proud of the way we place importance in each decision. This starts with making our products to last (see page 21) and meticulously considering every detail (see page 37). We’re raising standards with our hospitality-first approach to the customer experience which is poised to reach new heights (see page 27). We’re sharing product traceability with a first-of-its-kind system we built called Origin Track (see page 10). We’re expanding our community-based philanthropic effort, Helping From Home, and have a big annual goal to hit this year (see page 28).
In the pages ahead, you’ll also see the values that drive us, our prioritization to honor our farmers, artisans, and employees, and our push to continue to learn and improve ourselves. We want everyone who touches a product from Boll & Branch to feel the difference in our standards—and always sleep better at night.

HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT
From day one, we’ve upended the status quo by doing things the right way, not the easy way—benefiting the lives of everyone who touches our products.
THE IMPACT REPORT How We’re Different
5
It all started with A DREAM
Scott and Missy Tannen weren’t planning on starting a bedding company, but that all changed in the fall of 2012. They had just upgraded to their first king sized bed and needed a new set of sheets. They thought, “If we’re going to bring this product into our home, and use it every day, we’d like to know what it’s made of and the people who crafted it.”
Their research revealed a terrible truth:
the bedding industry was deplorable, rooted in generations of corruption and exploitation. Products were made with little to no traceability, by oppressed farmers and factory workers, in the cheapest ways possible. This is when Scott and Missy began imagining a world where bedding is made different, and everyone can sleep better at night.

SETTING OUR OWN STANDARDS
In 2023, we recommended our tier 1 supply chain create a benchmark for their sustainability practices, utilizing an industry platform called the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM). To date, 50% of these supply chain members have invested in renewable energy. We continue to lead these partners on a path to improvement, reducing their impact and leaving a better footprint on the environment.
Every step in our journey required a remarkably different approach, making up for generations of harm to the people and the planet.

ORIGIN TRACK
By Boll & Branch
To offer the same transparency Scott and Missy searched for in 2012, we created Origin Track—a system that lets customers trace the journey of their bedding.
STEP 1
How It Works: KNOW
STEP 2
Sewn beneath the fabric care label on each product is a unique lot number. This number is linked to our specialized tracking system, which traces every step of the product’s creation.
Customers can enter the lot number in Origin Track.
STEP 3
Customers are driven to a personalized landing page that maps their product’s journey—from learning about the farmers who grew the organic cotton, to discovering the artisans behind the final cut and sew.

WHAT IS ORIGIN TRACK?
In 2024, we launched Origin Track— an immersive digital experience where customers can trace where their products were made, the artisans who crafted them, and the journey each piece took from family farm to family home.

ORGANIC FARMING: A CRUCIAL STEP TOWARD CHANGE
Organic and conventional cotton may be from the same plant, but their impact couldn’t be more different. Known as one of the dirtiest crops in the world, conventional cotton causes mass destruction from the ground up.1
These farming operations rely heavily on manmade fertilizer and synthetic pesticides, which gradually erode soil and deplete the natural organisms needed for plant growth. Coupled with monocropping—growing the same crop on the same plot of land, year after year—conventional cotton farming turns healthy, fertile plots of soil into dry wasteland.
Countless brands act like this destruction is inevitable—but in reality, it’s the easy and careless choice. Growing organic cotton requires non-GMO organic seeds, diligent crop rotations, and prohibits the use of toxic chemicals and harmful, synthetic pesticides. This is the better choice for the people and the planet, so it’s the only choice for us.

The IMPACT WE MAKE
On Farmers
Growing organic cotton helps farmers escape the harshest of circumstances— ones no person should ever be subjected to. While conventional farmers are routinely exposed to hazardous chemicals, with an estimated 300,000 falling victim to pesticide poisoning each year, the health and wellbeing of our organic farmers is strictly protected— using safe and effective alternatives to life-threatening toxins.1 Moreover, organic practices protect the land that’s so closely linked to their livelihoods. With measures to not only maintain, but enhance soil vitality, organic farming promotes long-term land fertility and economic safety for our partners.
On The Environment
Cotton is a notoriously water-intensive crop, and growing it with conventional methods requires large amounts of irrigation—putting strains on regions that already face water scarcity. Toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are yet another threat: contaminating groundwater and creating chemical runoff, which affects soil biodiversity, aquatic ecosystems, and the habitats of native wildlife. They also emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which contribute to air pollution and the dangerous smog that looms over regions.2
We’re helping mitigate this damage by growing organic cotton in the highest rain-fed parts of India, using non-toxic pest repellents in place of harmful chemicals. As a result, our organic cotton needs significantly less water to grow than conventional cotton. And the water we do use remains uncontaminated, promoting an ecosystem that respects the planet and everyone on it—so we can all sleep better at night.
“We can’t ignore the environmental impacts of the textile industry. Instead, we start with the raw materials, and trace every step to ensure we’re making a safe and sustainable product.

ACCOUNTABILITY
Learn about the third-party auditing system ensuring our standards are met at every step.
Pioneers In Innovation And Quality
In Scott and Missy’s dedication to creating the highest quality bedding, they found the perfect textile sourcing and supply chain management partner—one that’s been a trailblazer in the world of quality assurance since their founding in 1991. Going above and beyond the standards of other organizations that do site visits periodically, this company provides daily in-person oversight across our facilities to ensure all products are made in the best way. They’ve redefined industry standards with their commitment to accountability, quality craftsmanship, and meticulous oversight throughout the production journey. Our collaborative partnership shows the true importance of on-
site inspection specialists—for both product and workplace quality.
“Boll and Branch has moved beyond the buzzwords by implementing procedures to become fully transparent,” said the President of this enterprise. “This commitment of maintaining a high moral compass has changed our internal vetting protocols. We’ve become more stringent, only working with factories who prioritize fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and human rights.”
How Our Products Set New Industry Standards
Our shared commitment to accountability lives throughout the entire production process. Far beyond conventional standards, a team of on-site inspection specialists, most of whom have been with this company for over 10 years, ensures that every step adheres to our shared standards of transparency and quality—from design and product development to sustainable sourcing, compliance, and
quality control. The team takes each product through several tests, starting with examining the fabric for multiple factors, including construction, weight, and pilling. Additional steps include assessing pre-production product samples from our vetted factories, a product pilot run, and then several quality assurance inspections to guarantee that only the finest pieces are created. Helping reduce rejections and wastage lowers our carbon footprint. “Because of our close oversight and macro approach
to training, product rejections are in the range of 0.03%–0.06% on an annualized basis. The industry standard is 3%,” their President shared. “The overall quality of the product is extremely high when it leaves the facilities, and this all culminates in high customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.” It is these elevated standards that make this partner an unparalleled leader in the creation of luxury textile products, and a catalyst for positive change in the industry.

MADE to LAST
In a world dominated by rushed production for the sake of profit (and often at the expense of the product and the people who make it), we remain steadfast in our commitment to quality. Missy set this standard when designing our first Signature Hemmed Sheet Set. In order to make luxurious layers that stand the test of time, she believed that the details made all the difference, and saw the importance of doing seeminglysmall things the right way, down to the most minute aspects other brands often overlook. It is her meticulous attention to detail that formed our practices for excellence: creating lasting experiences for our customers, designed to get even better with time.
This unwavering commitment to craft set the foundation of our design principles, and we don’t stop there. Today, each product is
tirelessly considered at the hands of our team through multiple touchpoints. From sleep trials to wash-and-wear assessments, we leave no stone unturned or thread unconsidered. Our sheets are tested and inspected 18 times before they get to a customer (see more on pg. 31), and each new product undergoes third-party assessments by one of the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification companies.
This effort allows us to experience each new design just as our customers will—understanding how it looks, how it feels, how it performs over time—so that only the best and finest products are added into our luxury assortment. These differences all lead back to our core mission of bringing a better night’s sleep to all, always.

OUR PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVE
HELPING From HOME
In March 2020, we launched Helping From Home—a humanitarian effort that aimed to bring comfort and care to those impacted by COVID-19. With the support of our customers, we were able to provide more relief than we’d imagined, and realized just how much of a difference our powerful community stood to make in even more lives.
From that came our mission of bringing the feeling of home to those in need, both near and far, because home is the foundation upon which we build our lives. What started as a response to a global need has since grown into a philanthropic initiative, and the numbers show the impact we’ve been able to make in such a short time:
4,300
$150,000 Homes helped since 2020

To create the very best products from the ground up, we joined forces with these pioneers in organic cotton, who shared our commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and creating better lives for those in the textile industry.
A MILL RAISING INDUSTRY STANDARDS
A PARTNER PIONEERING SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
In their search for a partner dedicated to artisanal craft and ethical process, Scott and Missy turned to this female-founded textile mill in India that has spent decades creating a better future for their community and the industry at large, all while standing at the forefront of product innovation.
Our high standards don’t stop at fabrications. A shared vision for a better, more ethical process in developing bedding inserts led to a passionate partnership with the leader of traceability practices within the down and feather category.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
Changing The Way Textiles Are Made
When Scott and Missy started dreaming of Boll & Branch, they knew the “what” and the “why”—but the “how” was filled with complexity. They wanted to make bedding the right way, and searched far and wide for experts in organic cotton. This journey led them to find an invaluable manufacturing partner who helped shape who we are today. Not only did this rare-find business have generations of knowledge, but they had a like-minded goal that immediately resonated: “Become the most sustainable manufacturing company with the best ethical practices in India,” said the Director of this mill.
The Organic Cotton Mission
Finding industry leaders who share our values is rare. We were moved by this manufacturing partner’s motivation for prioritizing 100% organic cotton, prompted by the negative impacts of conventional practices that farmers struggled to escape. “We started supporting organic cotton farming to combat the groundwater poisoning caused by chemical fertilizers used on conventional cotton farms,” shared their Director. “We also wanted to help address the high rate of farmer suicides as a result of the economic conditions caused by the high costs of pesticides and fertilizers.”
The company became one of the first GOTS-certified companies, ensuring that all products are made from organic materials, in an environmentally friendly way, by workers who are paid and treated fairly. They have continued to expand their commitment to conscious practices in other ways, like the creation of their IGBC-certified, zero-waste factory which boasts the use of cuttingedge, renewable energy systems and an environmentally friendly construction. Today, this family-owned business employs nearly 7,000 workers across multiple factories, and is now one of India’s largest Fair Trade Certified™ manufacturers and exporters of ethically sourced organic cotton products.
As a key supporter of the organic farming mission, this dedicated business played a pivotal role in founding an organization to support organic cotton farming, improving the lives of small and marginalized farmers by transforming harsh working conditions, and making farming a sustainable and profitable occupation. The ongoing support they provide facilitates positive change in industry-wide farming practices, and has fostered the continued growth of the project. “Our partnership started more than 15 years ago,” the mill’s Director shared. “We were founding members, starting the project with around 200 farmers. Today, it has over 10,000 certified farmers.”
By investing solely in organic cotton, we help uplift the livelihoods of our partner’s workers with an impact that
extends beyond the factory floor. In contrast to less regulated, conventional cotton facilities, this organization is providing workers with a better quality of life: they ensure fair wages, provide health benefits, and actively contribute to workers’ overall wellbeing, setting a precedent for ethical practices in the industry.
The Future Of Organic Farming
Meaningful change starts with our prioritization of new processes and investment in doing what’s right. This partnership exemplifies a mutual commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and the betterment of lives in the textile industry. Our shared dream for the future is to meet the global demand for sustainable products. Today, this dream is well underway, meeting consumer demand for environmentally conscious and sustainable products. As we continue to collaborate, our journey paves the way for a more responsible future.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
Raising Industry Standards Together
In the heart of rural India, we discovered a rare textile mill with a shared passion for creating luxury bedding the right way— one so special, it felt like we’d found our needle in a haystack. We instantly knew we needed to partner with this world class fabric manufacturer that, for the last five decades, has stood as a beacon of positive change and empowerment in the textile industry. Much like our founders Scott and Missy, their forward-thinking founder established her weaving mill as one dedicated to forging a better, more equitable future for her community and the industry at large. Her early and unwavering commitment to higher standards—all with a focus on women’s economic independence, employee safety, and environmentalism—is what established the textile mill as a pioneer in sustainable practices.
Early Leaders In Better Practices
This organization became one of the first GOTS-certified organizations. “The company envisioned the need to produce products that have a sustainable future—to preserve the soil, help local farmers achieve selfsufficiency through farm cooperative programs, and work on a farm journey
that could enrich product experiences for end customers,” said their Managing Director. Today, they remain committed to 100% organic cotton farming.
In challenging broken, long-standing systems, they ushered in a new era of ethical practices. They now proudly support a workforce of 83% women on the factory floor, and provide employees and partners with fair wages and safe work environments. This dedication has improved job satisfaction among workers, and enhanced their lives in meaningful ways that can’t be quantified. “Employees at the factory feel more empowered,” their Managing Director shared. This impact extends beyond their state-of-the-art mill: farming partners are protected with a Minimum Support Price, receive lending assistance for non-GMO seeds, and secure commitments that protect their livelihoods in case of natural disasters. These standards have transformed villages, combatted social challenges, and uplifted communities as a whole.
The Power Of Shared Values
Our partnership is driven by a deep commitment to employee welfare. “Missy and Scott value relationships more than any other brand partner. I can proudly say that no one else comes close to reaching out to employees and caring for their wellbeing as much as the Tannens do,” said their Managing Director.
In contrast with conventional manufacturing facilities, employee welfare is woven into our partner’s entire production chain. Their Managing Director continued: “Everyone, from the farmer who has grown the cotton to the last hand that stitched and packed the product, receives their fair share for the role they play. Each Boll & Branch product from our factory is enriched with the joy and dedication of every hand that contributes
to its making. This is something that conventional facilities cannot replicate.”
The company continues to transcend expectations with their dedication to craft, a shared value we never compromise on. Both their fabric expertise and product innovation shine through in our collaborations. “We had the privilege of proposing new fabrications and working closely with the design department. Missy always has a special eye for things, and she looks at the finesse,” shared their Managing Director. “I remember the rounds we did for the first Percale Collection. Missy was at the helm, and her team wanted to make this fabric with organic cotton— sustainably produced with optimum resource utilization, and a soft-yetcrisp hand feel. Every round of product development was meticulous, and only the finest construction was chosen before going through several wash trials. Finally, we had it!”
Together, we’re not just creating products customers love; we’re also cultivating a positive impact on communities, farmers, and factory workers by raising the standards for ethical and sustainable practices in the textile industry.

Pioneering Sustainable Solutions In Luxury Bedding
Our devotion to making the finest ethical bedding continued with the creation of our luxury pillow and duvet inserts. Scott and Missy knew they had found the perfect partner in a multi-generational family business that provides natural fill materials and luxury bedding experiences. With roots tracing back nearly 100 years, their journey began with a commitment to sourcing the highest quality down and feather, the most sustainable filling material available. Today, they stand at the forefront of innovation, quality, and service, driven by their founding mission. “Our goal, and ultimate vision, is to inspire and enhance lives through superior comfort,” said their SVP of Sales.
Setting A Higher Standard
The organization’s commitment to creating sustainable change has left a lasting impact across industries. Their passion runs so deep, they assisted in the development of industry transparency standards, including the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and the Global Traceable Down Standard (Global TDS). Both have led to the more ethical production of down and feather materials, and further solidified our partner’s position as a leader in conscious practices. “Being good stewards to the environment is part of our core values,” their SVP of Sales affirmed. This belief among leadership has directly led to elevated standards, and contributed to a more responsible approach to manufacturing rooted in animal welfare protection.
A Dream Collaboration
Our work together signifies a shared commitment to sustainability, transparency, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in luxury bedding. As two industry leaders, our collective impact echoes beyond our products, shaping a more responsible and environmentally conscious future for the textile industry.
When describing our partnership, their SVP of Sales shared: “Ever since the first day that Scott and Missy visited our factory, the choice was clear: they had a vision, a great story, the values, and discipline to see it come to life.” Their team recognized the shared beliefs between our brands, and felt confident about entering a partnership with leaders who embody the same values. “Each team member, from design through production, was excited to see the uniqueness and passion toward perfection in each new product. It’s driven us forward ever since.”
Even more exciting than our shared passion is the differences our products bring to sleepers. “This partnership has helped validate the consumer desire for sustainable luxury bedding,” shared their SVP of Sales. Together, we continually explore new ways to create bedding that never fails to bring customers the comfort they need, crafted in an ethical way that helps everyone sleep better at night.

Growing CIRCULARITY INITIATIVES
Our commitment to sustainable practices is central to our mission at Boll & Branch. Over the last 10 years, we’ve donated $1.9M worth of goods to Good360, a non-profit organization that helps distribute essential goods to those in need around the world. These donated goods include Boll & Branch products, such as bedding, pillows, inserts, bath, and sleepwear.
We’ve also partnered with FABSCRAP, a textile reuse and recycling service. Since the start of our partnership in 2022, we’ve donated 527 pounds of extra or sample fabric to FABSCRAP. Instead of being thrown away, these scraps were recycled and utilized for things like insulation, carpet padding, and felt carpeting—or upcycled for creative partnerships with local designers, students, and artisans.
In 2023, we launched Comforters and Quilts filled with recycled polyester, and transitioned to zippers in our products that are made from recycled polyester. Our products are crafted with FSC Mix paper hangtags, which is a mixture of materials from FSCcertified forests, recycled materials, and/or FSC-controlled wood to support responsible forestry.
We use a Bevi Smart Water Dispenser at our Corporate Headquarters in Summit, NJ, which has helped us reduce our carbon footprint by saving approximately 79,600 12-ounce plastic water bottles, which translates to 17.1 tons of CO2.

Pioneering NEW PRODUCT CATEGORIES
Over the last 10 years, we’ve thoughtfully expanded our product offering into new categories where we saw an opportunity to create something that was different and better.
Top Of Bed Expansion
We have approached every Top of Bed product with a singular focus—to offer something that’s different and better than what was already on the market. Every detail is tirelessly considered— like the fill for our Duvet Inserts that is cleaner and sourced responsibly; bed blankets and quilts that are made to stand the test of time in the finest materials; and a comforter that’s made with a hypoallergenic, recycled polyester fill and 100% organic cotton shell—so that each person that touches our products gets their best night’s sleep.
Sleepwear
In April 2023, we introduced our Sleepwear Collection. Designed in a curated assortment of pajama sets, our Signature Sleepwear and Soft Knit Sleepwear fabrics are all crafted in the highest quality, 100% organic cotton, differentiating us from other sleepwear on the market. We used special weaves and unique washes that together create an exceptionally soft hand-feel and an experience that other brands most commonly create with synthetic fibers.
Furniture
To offer our customers a holistic Boll & Branch aesthetic in their homes, we launched the Furniture Collection in September 2023. Each piece is handcrafted at a factory in Vietnam with premium materials that will stand the test of time—all upholstery is custom-made by expert craftspeople and all wood is prepared, sanded, stained, and finished by hand.
While many other brands buy from pre-curated furniture lines, our entire line was designed in-house in Summit, NJ. The custom, artisanally crafted silhouettes were architecturally inspired and mix classic shapes with clean, modern lines to elevate your entire bedroom and offer an unparalleled sense of comfort.
