From Mrs. Faulkner
This week the boys have very much enjoyed getting started with their extracurricular activities, and what a range they have to choose from. We will be using a new system to monitor the boys’ attendance at activities so we can help them to balance their enthusiasm for organised activities alongside the all important free play time with their peers and of course making sure they have time to eat.
On Friday morning you are warmly invited to attend this week’s Friends of Bolton School Coffee Morning. This is being held in the Leverhulme Suite which is located in the Riley Centre, from 8:30am to 10am. There will be soft drinks, tea and coffee, cake and biscuits. The intention is to provide parents, especially those new to school, to meet one another and to meet those other parents from the Friends of Bolton School who can answer questions about school life. Mr Britton will speak at around 9am for ten minutes or so. Please don’t feel that you need to stay for the whole session and do feel free to just drop in.
On the 10th October we will be celebrating Harvest with our usual assembly. Through this event we support Urban Outreach and have always been delighted by the generosity of our parents in terms of the donations we collect. There are always particular items that Urban Outreach are keen to receive and a list of those can be found attached. If you are able to support that endeavour, please can contributions be sent into school from Monday 7th October.
The 10th October is also World Mental Health Day which we will be marking through a range of activities throughout the day. The theme of the day is Hello Yellow, so we will be asking the boys to show their support for this by brightening their uniform with an item of yellow clothing or accessories.
Celebration Assembly
Today we had our first celebration assembly of the term celebrating all of the fantastic efforts shown by boys as they begin their new school year. Our commendations are focused around our Park Road principles celebrating: Commitment, Compassion, Curiosity, Communication, Collaboration. Challenge, Creativity and Celebration
It was brilliant to see such a range of achievements, from good manners, looking after each other with new routines, efforts in lesson and their new extra-curricular activities too.

Friends of Bolton School
Throughout the school year, we hold a variety of social events for parents/guardians. Our first event is a coffee morning taking place on Friday 20 September, from 8.30am to 10am in the Leverhulme Suite. The intention is to provide parents/guardians, especially those new to the school, with an opportunity to meet one another and to meet members of Friends of Bolton School who can answer questions about school life. Please feel free to drop in. If you would like to attend, please park off-site and arrive via Riley Reception, where you will be directed to the Leverhulme Suite. Soft drinks, tea, coffee, cake and biscuits will be available.
The Friends of Bolton School Summer Festival that took place last June raised nearly £3,500. This is being split equally between the charity “Great Minds Bright Futures” (a charity supported by Bolton School creating a loving, safe space with activities and opportunities for vulnerable Malawian children to learn, play, thrive and be the best versions of themselves), the Bursary Fund and projects in school that support the whole Foundation. Huge thanks to school and the Estates team for their assistance, all of the many volunteers who helped to plan and run the event, and to all those families who bought tickets and enjoyed a great day in school.
National Coding Week
This week is National Coding Week! National Coding Week encourages people to engage with coding. As part of our computing curriculum boys will learn a range of coding and programming skills. Please see a fun quiz attached if your son would like to learn more about algorithms and coding! MLB https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zs7s4wx/
Achievements
Very well done to Jayan in Year 4 who qualified in P2 at the weekend ahead of the national karting championship in the 8-12 category. He was P5 for most of the final but unfortunately a spin in the rain put him back to P10 which is still a good result being the youngest to compete at this level. Well done Jayan.
Bolton Schools’ Cross Country League
Last week, Max Hymas, George Bleakley, William Darbyshire and Alex Barnard all took part in the first week of the Bolton Schools’ Cross Country League. Boys ran the 2k course all in fantastic times and positions, supporting each other along the way too. Our total team score of 89 has put us in second place for week 1. We wish the boys running again this week the best of luck in continuing their team score, in the four week league.
Individually we also had fantastic positions and we are proud of all four boys for their enthusiasm and perseverance shown: Well done to you all! MLB
Open Morning
Please come along to our Whole School Open Morning on Saturday 12th October 2024 from 09:30. This is a perfect opportunity to visit other parts of the Foundation and view all that our School has to offer.
