From Mrs. Faulkner

We are very much looking forward to our Harvest Assembly next week, some of our Year 6 boys have been busy preparing their work to be shared with the school and we have been learning some new harvest songs to share. We are delighted to be joined by Dave Bagley from Urban Outreach who will be able to share with the boys, information about the important work Urban Outreach do to help those in need within the wider Bolton community. Please help us to support the work of Urban Outreach by donating items from the attached list. We would be grateful if boys could bring in their items from Monday. Our donations will be collected on Thursday morning.

We are now well and truly into Autumn which we can tell both by the cooler weather and the usual autumnal bugs doing the rounds. In order to help us to keep the boys fit and healthy please can I ask that you make sure that your son always has a coat in school as he will need it for breaktimes and any lessons we may head outdoors for.

If your son is unwell please do consider if he is well enough to be in school, the main thing to watch out for is if his temperature is raised he should stay at home. Also, if your son is suffering from a stomach bug he will need to remain off school for 48 hours after the last bout of sickness or diarrhea. We will continue to encourage the boys to maintain good hand hygiene in order to reduce the inevitable spread of infection.

Please can I remind you of the need to park carefully and considerately around the school site at both pick up and drop off times. I appreciate that the site is busy at these times and that parents are often in a hurry but please do make sure that you are not parking in an area which may pose a danger to the boys, this includes mounting the pavements around the Queen’s Park entrance and on the corner turning into Westgate Avenue. The most important thing for us to bear in mind is the safety of all of the children, even if that does slow us down by a few minutes.

Terrific Top Table

Last week’s Top Table winners! Well done to these boys spotted being well behaved and showing excellent manners in the dining room to our dinner ladies and Mrs Gregory.

House Cross Country

We will be holding our annual House Cross Country on Friday 18th October 2024 from 1:45 pm. We do hope that you can join us in cheering on the children as this is always a fun way to end the first half term. Please see the attached letter with more information.

News from the Art Room

We have been braving the elements in Art this week to do some urban sketching linked to our 3D drawing and architecture work. It was great to get out and create work in the environment. The boys produced some excellent work. JPM

News from DT

We had two y13 boys (Alfred and Tristan) volunteering to help with a y4 DT lesson yesterday. Both boys are old Park Road pupils, and now they are planning to study engineering at university. They have benefitted greatly from DT lessons through the school and their enormous experience and expertise was of huge benefit to the y4 boys. CJW
