A note from the Head…
It was lovely to welcome new families and some of our current parents into school last Saturday.
Our Open Morning was a celebration of everything that makes Hesketh House so special
The classrooms were full of dazzling displays and there was a buzz of excitement as visitors made their way around school.
A huge thank you to the pupils who came to help us on the dayandmake the morningso memorable. We had fantastic feedback about school in general and the sounds of our pupils beautiful singing made everyone smile.
In particular, our visitors commented on the confidence and enthusiasm of our Ambassadors as they proudly toured them around school. We were very proud of them and the role they played. A huge thank you to all the staff and pupils involved on the day.
On Saturday I spoke to prospective parents about how Hesketh House combines a strong sense of tradition with innovation to offer the very best mix of learning.
We promote in girls our Hesketh Habits, which accelerate their academic progress. Curiosity, challenge, collaboration and communication skills, are vital skills in today’s world
In recent years our oracy project, where we teach those so important communication skills, has had a huge impact on our pupils. Being curious and asking questions is a vital part of lessons and our teachers create a learning environment where inquisitive children thrive. Group and paired work, discussion, questioning and evaluating are vital skills underpinning our teaching and learning. We think it’ s important to teach our pupils to be compassionate, listen carefully and to challenge the opinions of others politely in debates and discussions
As I visit lessons and walk around school, I’ m proud to see that at Hesketh House our pupils are excited about school, they are engaged and immersed in their learning and are stretched and challenged both personally and academically
As we come to the end of our first half term of the new school year, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
Breaking News!
Hesketh House is a forward-thinking school and we have exciting news this week. Each pupil now has a digital portfolio to showcase their proudest extra-curricular achievements, their leadership roles and responsibilities and photographs of their work across the curriculum – a virtual diary oftheir life in school.

Hesketh Habits for House Day
A memorable part of school life are our House Days and girls enjoyed the first of these on Monday on the theme of mindfulness. Our House system, made up of all year groups, helps girls to make friends outside of their class and peer group. All our Hesketh Habits were on display as our pupils enjoyed relaxing yoga, cheerleading and samba drumming, outdoor and indoor games, working together on a charity initiative, mindful art and poetry.
Author Talks
Our Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to discuss Hannah Gold’s latest book `Turtle Moon’ and ask her lots of questions about her life as an author. Pupils in Year 4 enjoyed meeting alumni Deborah Lyon this week to hear about her book `Timewaif & the Roman Road’ Cross Country
Congratulations to the girls who took part in the Bolton School Cross Country. The team came 2nd overall out of 42 schools; a wonderful achievement
Our Year 6 Charity Ambassadors led our Harvest Celebration last week on the theme of ‘You Reap what you Sow.’ It was accompanied by lovely whole school singing and some beautiful harvest songs by our Choir. Dave Baguley from Urban Outreach delivered a powerful message about sharing what we have. Thank you once again to all our parents and pupils who brought harvest gifts for Urban Outreach Collection.
Hello Yellow and Mental Health Awareness Day
The whole school planted daffodils in the grounds of Hesketh House last week to celebrate Hello Yellow and Mental Health Awareness Day.
It will be lovely to see thesebeautiful flowers bloom in the springtime.
