A note from the Head…

Our exciting Extra-Curricular Programme is underway and what a wonderful choice there is!

This year we have a focus on STEM clubs: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Year 4 STEM club will ‘Meet the Architect’ and I am sure they will have lots of questions to ask before they begin to plan and design their own projects! We also haveCartoon Creators, Coding, and Computer Design, Lego Lingo and a new club, TTV to encourage and stimulate inquisitive minds!

Sporting and outdoor learning clubs continue to grow and include Athletics, Climbing, CrossCountry, Dodgeball, Football, Hockey, Ju-Jitsu, Lacrosse, Netball, Sailing, Swimming, Water Polo and Woodland Warriors. The range is fantastic and there really is something for everyone!

Our girls are passionate about music and have Drumming, Samba, String Orchestra, Tuned Percussion and a variety of Choirs to choose from. It’s just wonderful to hear the sound of singing as our girls prepare for our Harvest Festival and lovely to hear the enthusiastic sounds of samba drifting from the hall.

Our Creative Arts Clubs such as Cookery, Crochet, Culture Club, Gardening, LAMDA, ‘Sew What?’ and Street Dance are wonderful opportunities for our pupils to express themselves. Our Year 5 look forward to a new addition this term; Film and Book Critics to hone those so important oracy skills.

For the girls who like to stretch their minds, we have Chess, Quiz, Scrabble and so many more. It’s fantastic to see how many clubs are on offer and the range our pupils have to choose from.

To develop leadership skills we have introduced our Leverhulme Leaders and Trilby TV Club this term, in addition to our Charity Ambassadors, Eco Club and School Council. Mrs Naylor’s hugely popular Year 6 First Aid Club returns – so important to embed basic first aid skills as our girls learn to take more responsibility.

Our extensive Extra-Curricular Programme enables our pupils to develop a sense of pride and belonging in school, encouraging them to embrace challenge and show commitment, whilst giving them opportunities to take on roles and responsibilities within Hesketh House.

Hive@Hesketh

One club new to us this year is our Hive@Hesketh House held on a Friday lunchtime from 12:30pm. Girls can ask to go to the Hive or be invited by a teacher. Schools can be busy places and sometimes we need space to sit, think, talk about things which are on our mind or distract ourselves from our thoughts and senses. Our Hive provides our pupils with a calm and peaceful space
