A note from the Head…
Assemblies are such an important part of school and an inspirational start to our pupils’ day Our Hesketh Habits are central to our assembly themes each week.
Head of Primary Division, Mrs Faulkner shared one of her favourite stories `We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen giving our pupils time to think about how we might face challenges in our lives and overcome them. The girls enthusiastically joined in with some well-loved phrases as she read.
On International Dot Day
Mrs Labbe shared `The Dot’ by Peter H. Reynolds, the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to make her mark. Using his mantra, “Make your mark and see where it takes you,” we invited every child to respond in their own way to produce a small dot of artwork to create a whole school display. This international event celebrates creativity, courage and collaboration and was the perfect occasion to harness Hesketh Habits and reinforce the message that, for every one of us, making our mark matters.
Last Thursday we celebrated European Day of Languages and communication has been the theme for the week! Our specialist language teacher, Miss Eccleshare, has been discovering more about all the amazing languages spoken in school and at home and how this makes us diverse and vibrant. We sang a song in Spanish that she has specially written forus called `Thank you for the Earth’ Have a look on X to listen to our incredible singing!
Our English Co-ordinator, Mrs Worsley, has launched the BBC 500 words competition. Her motivational assembly gives our pupils an exciting opportunity to use their creativity and writing skills!
Deputy Head, Mrs Parrish gave our pupils food for thought with her assembly about Grace Hopper who dedicated her life. She transformed the world of computer science with a passion for problem-solving and an incredible curiosity.
Our Hesketh Habits really are so important in everything we do. We are fortunate to have so many talented staff who lead our pupils in this important part of the school day; to reflect, listen, engage with exciting events happening in school and share inspiring stories with our pupils.

An Exciting Message from Mrs Worsley
It’s a privilege to be a judge again this year on BBC’s 500 Words Competition. It’s a bit like being givena surprise present! When the stories arrive by post and I open them and start to read, each one gives merit to the voice of its author and reveals a wonderful parcel of words. They delight! The ideas the children express are fabulous, their creativity is incredible! For me, it qualifies that children’s story writing remains a strong, powerful, and cathartic process. Please do encourageyour children to enter the 500 Words writing competition. It's a great experience!
Pupil Success
We are delighted to report that Year 6 pupil, Maya Patel, has now been selected for the Lancashire County Cricket Club U13 Girls squad for the 24/25 season.
