OPEN MORNING 9.30am to 1pm

This week in assemblies, we have been exploring how to engage with new challenges, hearing the boys discussing how they might each approach a new problem and, perhaps more importantly, watching them help one another as they do so, is a real delight.

Today, Mrs Brisk spoke to the boys about the BBC’s 500 Words competition. I have always enjoyed reading the boys’ entries for this particular competition and never cease to be amazed by their imagination. I am quite sure that this year will be no exception.

Next week, we will be marking World Mental Health Day on Monday 9th October Mr Livesley has written separately asking the boys to come into school wearing something yellow for our whole school assembly. During the course of the week, the boys will be participating in a range of different activities to highlight the importance of discussing mental health and not hiding away from it.

Over the next few Fridays, I will very much enjoy meeting with all of the children who have joined Park Road this year, sharing a cup of hot chocolate with them and hearing what they have to say about their first few weeks in our school. I also hope to see many of our new parents at our Harvest Assembly next Thursday, 12th October

Earlier this week, you will have received Mr Britton’s email about looking ahead confidently to the future with regard to independent education. You can read an article written by him on the same topic via the link below:

I should like to thank our Year 5 parents for making arrangements for your son to be able to help us on Open Morning this coming Saturday, 7th October, their support, as well as yours is very much appreciated.

Last Friday saw the return of rugby tournaments and first up were Year 6.

We started off well but were beaten by a strong Birkenhead side. The second game saw some defensive improvements but we fell short again to a well-organised Merchant Taylor's team. Our performance of the day came typically in the final game which saw us draw 1-1. Some fantastic attacking and defensive plays on show. We are very much looking forward to future fixtures. TP

Cross Country Success

Last Thursday, Year 5 and 6 runners took part in the first week of the Moss Bank Cross Country League, running against 44 primary schools in Bolton and 210 boys

Our boys (as well as the girls from Hesketh House) ran extremely well and showed great sportsmanship encouraging each other as a team. The first four positions are added together each week to give us our team

This week, we had a total team score of 53! Well done to all who took part and good luck to those taking part

If you have any outgrown football boots (for use on grass or on Astro turf) or any old shin pads, we would be extremely grateful if you could donate them to us for use in school as spares. Thank you in advance for any donations. TG

Sam, David, Amaan and Mukundh all worked brilliantly together showing great teamwork, communication and perseverance when challenged. Above all though, they clearly had some fun! KEW
