A note from the Head…

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Gala Concert at The Bridgewater Hall last night; it was an amazing evening and a wonderful opportunity for the girls to perform in such a prestigious venue. Thank you also to the staff who have worked so hard to get the girls prepared and ready.

Published Poets

Congratulations to all of the girls who will have their poetry published in The Big Green Poetry Machine book. We look forward to getting a copy for our library too, so that everyone can enjoy their poems!

We had a lovely end to the week with the girls coming to school in their own clothes with a ‘red’ theme in support of Comic Relief. Hesketh House raised a wonderful £295.05 for this worthy cause!

Finally, could I remind you to contact the Hesketh House office first thing in the morning if your daughter will not be in school for any reason. Day to day queries should also be directed to the office juniorgirls@boltonschool.org.uk or 01204 434761. Please do not send general messages to personal staff email accounts, as these may not be checked regularly throughout the day.

World Book Day and Book Fair

Our 'book share' on World Book Day was a great success, as was the Book Fair that was held in the same week. Pupils enjoyed browsing, sharing recommendations, and selecting fiction and nonfiction books to buy. As a result of the takings at the Fair, we have earned a commission of £840 for school and with this we will purchase new books from Scholastic throughout the coming months for our pupils to enjoy. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile venture.

Malawi Appeal

Pupils from across the whole Bolton School Foundation came together to provide more than 100 bags of stationery and toiletries for a group of orphans out in Malawi. We also sent over lots of second-hand uniform too – thank you to everyone who donated to this appeal!

Urban Outreach Easter Egg Appeal

We appreciate that we have asked for a lot of support recently, but a charity we are very close to has once again asked us for help. Urban Outreach would like to provide Easter Eggs for the hundreds of families they are currently supporting in Bolton and would be very grateful for any donations. These can be brought in to school before the end of term and we will pass them on.

They say, “Here at Urban Outreach we have this idea – the #BoltonPowerOfOne – 1 person can do 1 thing tomake a difference to 1 other person. Here we have a wonderful opportunity to get children to think about giving a gift that will bring joy to another child in their own town.”

HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 17 MARCH 2023

Very well done to our amazing Year 5 netballers who were runners-up at the AJIS Netball Tournament yesterday. They won all of their games to reach the final, where they eventually lost to Alderley Edge. They were delighted with their silver medals!

A special mention to Sienna who was voted ‘Player of the Tournament’ by the umpires, a very special achievement.

Mrs Higgins was particularly impressed by the improvements made over the day; girls listened to advice and developed their skills even further.
