A note from the Head…
What an exciting week we have had at Hesketh House. Monday saw our final round of House activities, as ever thoroughly enjoyed by all of the girls. On Wednesday we held our own Eurovision Song Contest, following on from our MFL Day in the Spring Term. Every class gave a presentation about their allocated country and performed their song. Our panel of judges were incredibly impressed by everyone’s efforts, well done!
On Thursday we held our Open Evening and enjoyed showing lots of visitors around Hesketh House. A particular thank you to the Year 6 Ambassadors, who did a wonderful job in giving tours. I had glowing feedback from our guests, who were all very impressed.
Next week, Year 3 are off to Patterdale Hall, where I am sure they will have a wonderful time. The rest of the school will have exams next week, so are perhaps not quite as excited! Year 3 will do their tests the following week.
There will be tests for all pupils in English and Mathematics. Although we want the girls to take these seriously, please don’t let them get too anxious about it. The papers are sent away for marking and results are shared with parents when we get them back, usually a week or two after the half term break.
Next Friday, we will celebrate the Coronation, with various activities in school. We would like the girls to come in their own clothes on that day, with a red, white a blue theme. Please make sure clothing, particularly footwear, is suitable for a busy day in school.
Finally, a reminder that general queries should be directed to the Hesketh House office 01204 434761 or juniorgirls@boltonschool.org.uk. Please include your daughter’s name and form on any emails.
Music Examination Success
Congratulations to Arwa Bhatia who achieved a distinction in her Initial Piano Examination recently. Very well done!
House Afternoon
Monday 24 April
The girls once again enjoyed a range of activities on our House Afternoon, including outdoor creativity, silk painting, biscuit decorating and woodland survival. We even had a visit from the Bolton School bees and a talk from their keeper, which was absolutely fascinating.
Eurovision Song Contest
Wednesday 26 April
Following on from our MFL Day in the Spring Term, we held our own version of the Eurovision Song Contest on Wednesday afternoon. Each class gave a presentation about the country they were representing and then performed their song, with dancing too! Mrs Faulkner headed up the judging panel, which also included the Primary Division Governor Mrs Bailey and former Head of Languages in Girls’ Division Mrs Shafiq. There was lovely feedback for all classes, but after considerable deliberation 6F were declared the winners. Well done to everyone involved, and particularly to girls in 6F!

Please do encourage your daughter to bring in trophies, medals and certificates if she is awarded them. We can’t always include everything in the Newsletter, but do enjoy congratulating them in our Achievement Assembly. This term, our Achievement Assembly will be on a Thursday morning, instead of a Friday.
Message from the Eco Committee
Did you know that each year in the UK we throw away around 600 million used batteries? Recycling is a great way to help protect the environment. Each battery placed in a recycling bin will be taken apart and the materials will be used to make something new
Bring your used batteries to school so that we can recycle them. If you want one of our small collection boxes please ask one of the Eco Committee members or Mrs Bass (supplies are limited).
