While polar bears are wearing their swimming trunks, your mother is wrapped up in her warmest coat. Don’t worry, though, because Bonbek is ready to face its first cold snap with our Brrr issue. And we’re not scared of shivering. No way! Because this second issue has pulled out all the stops to keep you warm and toasty. A dance routine in your coats that’s stone-cold wicked. Whiz! A story of global warming in your fridge. Drip, drip. A race between hungry Yetis in which the first to get to the end eats the Eskimos. Splotch! Two recipes with lots of chocolate to get you back on your feet. Yum! Plus the same crazy style that’s 100% Bonbek. Ha ha! And illustrations that are totally wow In other words, with stories, games and creative play, this Bonbek is Brrr, whiz, ha ha, drip drip, woohoo, ha ha, splotch, woohoo, ha ha, yum, Brrr! Édito -3°C, la neige, le verglas, les gens qui marchent comme s’ils patinaient, les ours blancs en maillot de bain, ta mère en doudoune… Bonbek affronte son premier grand froid : gla gla ! La pétoche, kaï kaï ? Même pas ! Pourquoi ? Parce que ce n° 2 a mis le paquet pour affronter l’hiver. Une choré en duvet très « Les bronzés ». Wizz ! Une histoire de réchauffement climatique dans ton frigo. Ploc, ploc… Une course de yétis nourrissante : le premier arrivé gobe un esquimau. Blop ! Deux recettes tout chocolat qui remettent d’aplomb. Croc ! Et toujours le même ton décalé 100% Bonbek. Ha, ha, ha ! Et les mêmes illustrations très… wahou ! Au royaume du grand Nord, ça grogne fort. Ras le bol du blanc ! On veut de la couleur ! Pingouins couleur Galak, Inuits au teint de porcelaine et ours livides : tous tapent du pied sur la banquise. Ça suffit la monotonie ! Pour que la manif ne se transforme pas en émeute, prends tes crayons et fais en voir de toutes les couleurs à ce pays bien pâlichon. Et surtout n’oublie pas : plus une trace de blanc ! Things are not all sweetness and joy in the kingdom of the Great North. We can’t take anymore white! We want colour! Now, Andrea and Mathis (who are twins) absolutely love the song and have come up with a special dance. Comme tous les jours à Ilulissat, les gens avaient la chair de poule et la goutte au nez. Comme tous les jours à Ilulissat, les passants grelottaient et éternuaient. Mais ce jour là, à Ilulissat, n’était pas comme les autres... Like every day in Ilulissat, it was cold, cold, cold. Like every day in Ilulissat, people had goosebumps and runny noses. Like every day in Ilulissat, passers-by shivered and sneezed. But that day in Ilulissat wasn’t like every other day...

Au petit matin, chevauchant un nuage de mohair, apparut dans le ciel…Tricotman ! Le super-héros au cache-nez renforcé atterrit en douceur en plein centre-ville et déclara aux passants aussi congelés qu’étonnés : « je vais vous réssauffer ! » (avec toute cette laine, Tricotman avait constamment une peluche sur la langue…). Early that morning, riding in on a mohair cloud, Knittingman appeared in the sky! The superhero with the reinforced scarf gently landed in the centre of town and declared to the freezing and extremely surprised passers-by: “I’m going to schwarm you up!” (All that wool meant that Knittingman’s mouth was always fluff-filled.)

La foule transie applaudit et, tel un Spider-Man de la laine, le super-héros se mit à tricoter à la vitesse de l’éclair des pulls, des écharpes et des bonnets. Les Ilulissatiens, les chiens, les chats et même les immeubles, les statues, les boîtes aux lettres… : tous eurent droit à leur petite laine. Au bout de quelques heures, la ville entière fut totalement emmitouflée. Despite being chilled to the bone, the crowd applauded before our superhero, like a woolly Spider-Man, began knitting jumpers, scarves and hats at the speed of light. The people of Ilulissat, the dogs, the cats, even the buildings, statues and letterboxes all got some woollies. And in just a few hours, the whole city was wrapped up nice and warm.

Ce fut jour de fête à Ilulissat ! Tout le monde put enfin sortir couvert, danser dans le froid et la neige, s’amuser… Tout le monde, sauf… Didier, le flamant rose. Comme tous les flamants roses, Didier avait un cou long, très long, et extrêmement sensible. La longue, très longue écharpe fabriquée par Tricotman le démangeait horriblement… C’est simple, il n’était plus rose, mais rouge de boutons. Vert de rage, il jura de se venger ! That day was a like a giant party in Ilulissat! Everyone could finally leave the house all covered up, dance in the cold and snow, and have fun. Everyone except Didier the flamingo. Like all flamingos, Didier has a long, very long, neck and was a terribly sensitive thing and the long, very long, scarf Knittingman had made him itched terribly. It was very simple: he was no longer pink but pink with spots. Red – or rather pink – with rage, he swore he would get his revenge!

Un ours blanc groovy, des pingouins livreurs de lait, un chauffe-oreilles, des chauffe-mains, des chauffe-pieds - pardon, on s’emporte : des Moon Boots, le drapeau de Banquiseland et… un masque de pingouin. Le tout en papier et en élastiques. Plutôt givré, non ? Allez, à vos ciseaux ! A groovy white bear, milkmen penguins, an ear warmer, a hand warmer, a foot warmer – sorry, we’re getting carried away – Moon Boots, the flag of Icebergland and… a penguin head. The whole thing in paper and elastic bands. Pretty cool, no? To your scissors!

Ce monde se situe pile au centre d’un cristal dans le compartiment à glaçons. Il s’appelle Brrrr. Il est peuplé d’êtres intelligents (les Brrrruriens), qui nous ressemblent un peu par certains côtés. Par certains seulement, car, par exemple, ils vivent tout nus sans craindre le froid. Au contraire, c’est lui qui leur permet de respirer et ils se nourrissent du moindre degré en-dessous de zéro.

This world is found right at the centre of a crystal in the ice-cube compartment. It’s called Brrrr and is full of intelligent beings (the Brrrririans), who look a little like us from the right angle. But only the right angle, because, for example, they are completely naked but don’t have to worry about the cold. On the contrary, it’s the cold that allows them to breathe and they live on the least degree below zero.
