Adding My Two
Cents Worth
In todays world we are experiencing an alarming rate in the hike of prices in all areas of our lives. The sad part of this is that although prices are shooting up, the product in which we are purchasing packets are getting smaller in size amount. Because of this, I felt it very necessary as well as appropriate to devote this months magazine of Back-2-Basics to ways in which we can reduce cost in our budgets to help out in these areas. Articles such as our Featured Story on Keep it Natural, Crock Pot to the Rescue, and Home-made Remedies are designed not only in the spirit true to our magazine, but we here want to inform the reader, JUST IN CASE YOU DID NOT KNOW! So, if you don’t mind, I would like to add my two cents worth and add a tad bit of advice and that is to remember, TWO THINGS about a SALE, Shopping sales can be a good thing, but remember, If you don’t need it, then it’s not a sale! Until Next Time ... Keep It Basic!!!

This is especially encouraging to women with young children. When they see mommy embracing their natural hair, they too benefit in the area of self-confidence for how wonderful is it for the young child to think, if my mommy looks beautiful this way, so do I! How wonderful it is to be comfortable in your own skin and letting your child learn early on that, we are beautifully made!

healthier hair, but it becomes less stressful, you can actually GET-UP-AND GO and did I mention, NO MORE pricey salon visits - no worries about sweating your hair out, and no more weakened strands from chemical damaged hair which means you WILL achieve successful hair growth (myself included).

Once on the road of redemption, you will come into a self-confidence. This however doesn’t mean that as soon as you transition that you will automatically feel you’re the bomb.com. What it does mean is that once you stop working against your natural hair and start working with it, not only will you get to experience

For women of color, we tend to let our hair affect many areas of our lives for we don’t want to sweat out our hair while working out for example. We too tend to deprive ourselves of enjoyable things like swimming as it became a toil to get our hair back into a relaxed condition. For these reasons alone, the black women share in the delight to rid themselves of these conditions by going back to their roots. If you are willing and ready to transition back … you will find your natural hair to be a rather freeing and exuberating experience.

On another note ... More and More - Women across the globe are getting more comfortable and embracing their age by allowing themselves to welcome in their silver by not trying to hide behind chemicals, which are geared to cover up the natural process of their graying hair.

Earlier, it was a stigma to the term DREADLOCKS as some thought it to be an insult to say as the coined phrase DREAD was too closely associated with the word DREADFUL when in fact, the term DREADLOCK is just the opposite. As it roots come out of Jamaica - the term “dread” is a term of respect, just like you would use “Sir” to address someone you are not familiar with and would like to show respect to. But the stigma remains and I have found more and more that most women rocking Dreads prefer the term LOCS over DREADS. Whether your preference, I think we all can agree that our featured model demonstrates that THERE IS NOTHING DREADFUL about HER LOCS!!!

More and more the Black Women have been going back to basics and wearing their hair in its natural state. Some just as in our model to the left have taken on the natural look of wearing LOCS while others just wear it natural without the actual locking of their hair.
