ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Hi! I’m Bronwyn. Originally from the rural South-West of the UK, and a passionate Interior Designer. I now live here in the Netherlands, enjoying the best of the European design scene. My design journey began in Cardiff, studying my BA (Hons) degree in Interior Design at the University of South Wales. Here, I developed my design skills and achieved a first-class degree. Following this success, I began working at some nationally recognised design offices on a range of interior projects. During my experience, I was lucky enough to work on a variety of typologies from barn conversions, to interactive office spaces. I gained experience at all stages of a design process, from conception to completion. My understanding and expertise stands me in good stead to achieve a well resolved and intricately detailed proposal. After these endeavors, I spent 6 months traveling around mainland Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. On my return, I put all my efforts into relocating to the Netherlands to live and work. During this time, I worked on private projects whilst working as an associate lecturer at two UK universities on their Interior Design programme. Since moving to the Netherlands, I have fallen in love with my new life. During my time here, I have been able to enjoy playing sports, spending time outside, traveling, meeting new people and discovering new hobbies. I am now looking forward to finding a job at a studio whose passions align with my own. My design philosophy stems from a desire to respond closely to the unique nature of each host structure. By truly understanding and analysing a brief we can uncover design possibilities that make a difference to the lives of those who use the space. I believe design should be effortless, with all elements working harmoniously to form a well-resolved outcome. Once a space has been planned to unlock its most effective use, I aim to achieve this by carefully considering colours, tones and textures whilst placing emphasis on sustainable design.

The office interior exudes the distinctive personality of the company that calls it home. As you step inside, you’re immediately immersed in an environment that embodies the company’s unique culture, values, and identity. Creative agency, Team Eleven, had a very clear vision for their new office space: to build a workplace that would foster creative ideas. Interaction worked with them to bring this vision to life and create ‘The Bank of Brilliant Ideas’ following their purchase of an old bank and listed-building in Bradford on Avon.

It was important throughout the design and build process to consider the Georgian style architecture and understand the rich history the building held, and to complement this whilst bringing in the creativity they wanted. This juxtaposition of time periods respects the building’s story and points to its future as a creative agency. Playfully working modern creative design into the Georgian elegance of the building’s interiors has created a truly inspiring workplace with Team Eleven at the heart of it.

comprehensive refurbishment of a cherished, listed townhouse in the heart of Devon’s Tavistock, a charming county town. Having seen its Victorian allure diminished in the previous 2005 renovation, our aim was to rejuvenate this elegant property.

Guided by the client’s vision of a tranquil and neutral ambiance, our design approach emphasized serenity and sophistication. The key focal point, a striking single-glazed metal window, bathed the main areas in an abundance of natural light, accentuating the property’s inherent charm.

04 . COPPER CWTCH Nestled within a vibrant urban setting, this two-story apartment epitomizes modern sophistication with a subtle nod to its period charm. The upstairs area is a sanctuary of contemporary comfort, boasting lofty ceilings adorned with elegant historical details that seamlessly merge with the clean lines and fresh textures, instilling a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the living areas, kitchen, dining, and relaxation spaces. Downstairs, a cozier ambiance unfolds, courtesy of the lower ceilings, necessitating an artful integration of artificial lighting. Here, the thoughtful design approach comes to life as the bathroom, elongated and bereft of natural light, becomes a canvas for creativity. With a flourish of meticulous finishes, the space is transformed with a striking terrazzo floor, opulent brass fittings, and the understated grandeur of natural slate and stone sinks, culminating in an exquisite blend of functionality and aesthetic allure.

he main focus of this project was to change the current layout and design of the kitchen space and adjoining zones. The space is a generous size with views over the city, which the old layout and style were not making the most of. The room is north facing so drawing in light and keeping things bright was key. The space was large enough to introduce a ‘chill zone’ which gives another dimension to the space.

20

The dining area was going to be used for ‘hosting’ from time-to-time, therefore, creating a space fit to entertain was also essential to the new layout. We introduced smart storage for ease of use, to benefit efficiency and the clients love for cooking. In terms of style, concentration was given to minimalist and timeless ideas, and focus on the materials used to bring warmth and depth.

ocated in Amsterdam, this apartment boasts an open, ‘circular’ design in its main upstairs space, seamlessly linking the kitchen, office/second bedroom, living room, and dining room. The use of rich, dark woods, natural stone, warm fabrics, and meticulously crafted bespoke items with a natural patina contribute to the elegant finishes throughout the area. In the concept process of the interior project, my approach centered on a meticulous curation of materials, finishes, and color palettes, alongside a thoughtful consideration of the apartment’s layout. Beginning with a comprehensive analysis of the client’s preferences and the architectural framework, I embarked on a thorough exploration of various material options, prioritizing their quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Deliberate selections were made to ensure a cohesive fusion of textures, from luxurious fabrics to sleek metallic accents, harmonizing with the overarching design vision.

The ground floor hosts the main bedroom, a well-appointed walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom. To maintain the sophisticated ambiance that characterizes the upper level, the main bedroom was designed to exude a sense of openness. A subtle division between the walk-in closet and the bedroom ensures privacy while fostering an intimate atmosphere within the bedroom itself. The continuity of the finishes from the first floor to the ground floor was carefully orchestrated to create a seamless and unified design. Acknowledging the limited natural light on the ground floor, a deliberate choice was made to incorporate lighter-toned wood and bright finishes, amplifying the sense of spaciousness and luminosity. In the en-suite bathroom, a predominantly light natural stone palette contributes to a refreshing and airy ambiance, enhancing the overall sense of openness and tranquility.

a Rayol is a project based close to Nice, France. This project is currently in the concept stage and a number of potential designs have been generated. Externally, the Villa shows off traditional character with a tiled roof and existing chimneys, which was important to embrace and compliment to the new interior. In harnessing the subtle character of the building, the floor is nature-stone throughout the property, with soft furnishings specified in appropriate rooms to bring in warmth. Nature-stone also features in the kitchen island and combined with earthy tones from timber kitchen fronts. The old niches of the house now contain bespoke builtin shelves in a plaster finish which creates an eye-catching piece that feels inkeeping with the architecture.

ituated in the picturesque dunes along the Dutch coast in Zeeland, Netherlands, the Cadzand hotel exudes a unique charm. Our recent project involved a compelling re-imagining of a two-floor apartment within this exquisite hotel complex. To create a distinctive space that deviated from the standard hotel rooms, the owner sought a novel approach. As designers, we seized this opportunity to revamp the layout, centering it around a pivotal core. This central space ingeniously accommodates a gym, an office, and a staircase leading up to the bedroom. Encircling this core are intelligently designed hallways that facilitate seamless movement between different areas. Inspired by the captivating view of the coastline, this design concept harmoniously aligns with the hotel’s northern elevation, presenting an elegant blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal.

SEVENTY SIX A new restaurant for a small but affluent market town in Devon, UK. The menu centres around Asian cuisine and the interior elements take inspiration from the architecture and design of the continent. Timber plays an important role in oriental design and is an influential feature through this project. The project demonstrates a range of tones, from the dark wooden floor to the light oak finishes. These are complimentary to one another and add depth to the overall design. Ceramic tiles are used sparingly in the space, adding sections of colour and texture that contrast the warm tones of the wood. Carefully planned lighting arrangements and a sensitive specification of fixtures create an relaxed a sophisticated atmosphere within.

very special project which has more of an impact than we might think. Westerveld is a crematorium and a memorial park in Bloemendaal. It prides itself as one of the most peaceful parks in the Netherlands. Westervelt is a unique project as there is lots to consider when designing such a highly emotive space. The existing complex has four main spaces, which require updating to fit more contemporary ideas and to offer its users a special experience at such a difficult time. The function rooms at Westervelt needed to be a balance of social interaction yet having space to feel and think. Throughout the plans there is an element of privacy amongst shared spaces for family and friends to gather.

10 . WESTERFELD All of the existing rooms felt disjointed and came with their own unique characteristics. The new layouts were designed according to their required function, whilst also keeping in mind the importance of the scheme to feel like a cohesive project. The finishes needed to be subtle and not invasive, so throughout the four rooms, a very light natural oak is often seen. The wood is mostly found on the design concept of paneled walls. It is also picked up in other integrated elements. The main material of the bar is natural stone which is also displayed in the flooring. A main design feature of the space is a back-lit LED wall with a semi-transparent material ingrained with subtle flowing texture on the front. This creates a ethereal feeling and a lightness to the space.

The comprehensive redesign of Kastanjezaal, Berkenzaal, and Dennezaal has led to the transformation of these spaces into distinct, purposeful rooms, each accommodating its unique requirements. While retaining the option for Berkenzaal and Dennezaal to be seamlessly connected when necessary, the introduction of a folding door has facilitated their individual identities, allowing for greater versatility and privacy as desired. In aligning with the specific spatial constraints of each room, the redesign process has been meticulously tailored, ensuring an optimal utilization of the available area without compromising on functionality or aesthetic appeal. Despite their distinct functionalities, all three rooms remain unified by a consistent thematic approach, which weaves a cohesive narrative throughout the interconnected spaces.
