- Xiao Ru Guo -
Xiao-Ru Guo is an animation student with communications design background, combining the advantages of both disciplines, she has the ability on both visual design and animation. Moreover, she is a general 3D animator specializing in MAYA with the ability on modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering, especially for her works on non-photorealistic rendering and texturing.

Description Based on the concept of Mobius strip, the story demonstrates in a mobius-strip-shaped world formed by water, which talks about how people negotiate when facing the faith of their lives. There is a boy lives alone drifting on the sea. One day, the strip-shaped world broke accidentally, and turns into a mobius strip.

STARDUST Animated Short Film Independent Production 3’ 11” Feb, 2013 Maya, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop
Description The film was a 3rd grade project done and directed myself within six months. The animation was made to dedicated for my beloved nephew. As a children animation film, it was designed and demonstrated in a cheerful and warm way. Therefore, to preserve the handdrawn texture, a more artificial and warm atmosphere, I focused on non-photorealistic rendering and 2D texture.

Our understanding of the world is constructed from our own experiences and observations. Even though we cannot fully observe ourselves from “outside”, we can still observe and understand ourselves from the reality around us. Therefore, I have created an animated short film that depicts the life of an little astronomer who lives inside the nose of a microbiologist. Every breath that the microbiologist takes manipulates the development of the environment that the astronomer lives in; even the galaxy that the astronomer chases after are nothing more but dirt and dust.

The film was a school project when I was in 2nd grade in the collage. As my first character animation, I finished the project on my own within six months, from pre-production to post-production. During the process, I had more understanding of the 3D skills of MAYA and the progress on making an animation. What the world might be if we see the world through another person’s perspective. Could the life be difficult or surprising? Based on the assumption, the story depicts that a man one day woke up with another person’s “ eye” .

THE METAMORPHOSIS INTO HUMAN
Description A cooperated project with Tzu-Ning Lai which is to make a Chinese calligraphic artificial style animation for the projection mapping for National Taiwan College of Performing Arts theatrical company. To mimic the flow of the ink, we spent much time on the shading and VFX, which made the calligraphic whale swimming with the ink leaking and flowing.

Gateway JAVA is a Cafe located on Vancouver, Canada. The store provides organic meal and 100% chemical free coffee.The big window in the store make the space filled with sunshine. To emphasize the feature of the cafe, bright and nature, I made the hand-drawn patterns as the main visual of the identity.
