VOORWOORD • FOREWORD Er ging een enorme zucht van verlichting door het kantoor van Le Champion en mij als wethouder toen bleek dat de 45ste editie van de TCS Amsterdam Marathon inclusief het Nederlands Kampioenschap, de Mizuno Halve Marathon, de TCS 8 km, de Good Morning City Run en de Amsterdam City Walk door konden gaan. Hiermee kwam er een einde aan een lange periode van onzekerheid.

It was a big relief for the office of Le Champion and me as alderman when we heard that the 45th edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon including the Dutch Championship, the Mizuno Half Marathon, the TCS 8K, the Good Morning City Run and the Amsterdam City Walk could go on. With this a long period of uncertainty came to an end.

Een periode waarin buiten in beweging zijn meer dan ooit in het middelpunt van de belangstelling stond. Want sinds het begin van de coronapandemie was sporten voor veel mensen lastig. Gelukkig bood de individuele buitensport vaak uitkomst. Want wat is er laagdrempeliger dan hardlopen? Dat kan vaak al vanaf de eigen voordeur.

A period wherein outdoor sports was the centre of attention more than ever. Because since the beginning of the corona pandemic doing sports was difficult for many people. Luckily the individual outdoor sports often were a good solution. Because what is more easily accessible than running? That can mostly be done starting from your own front door.

Eindelijk kan iedere deelnemer, recreant of wedstrijdloper, die harde trainingsarbeid nu aan ons allen laten zien. Voor topatleten is er natuurlijk een extra uitdaging: het lopen van een nieuw parcoursrecord. En voor onze jongste generatie hardlopers zijn er wederom de kinderlopen. Want er gaat natuurlijk niets boven een hardloopfestijn dat start en finisht in het historische Olympisch Stadion waarbij je langs de Amstel, onder de passage van het Rijksmuseum en in het Vondelpark aangemoedigd wordt door honderden toeschouwers. Wat voor tijd je ook neerzet, het zijn voor iedereen onvergetelijke momenten. En wist je dat de marathon zelf ook in de prijzen gevallen is? World Athletics heeft in maart 2020 het Platinum Label toegekend aan de TCS Amsterdam Marathon vanwege het snelle parcours, de excellente organisatie en het sterke deelnemersveld. Net als Le Champion zijn wij bijzonder trots dat onze marathon tot de beste 12 ter wereld behoort. Ik wil mijn grote waardering en dank uitspreken aan het bestuur en de medewerkers van Le Champion en aan alle vrijwilligers die deze editie mogelijk maken. Maar zeker ook aan de sponsoren. Tata Constultancy Services, titelsponsor sinds 2011, heeft zich opnieuw voor vijf jaar aan het evenement verbonden. En Mizuno en Run2Day hebben eveneens het contract verlengd. Dit is een teken van groot vertrouwen en geeft rust in aanloop naar de 50ste editie.

Finally every participant, amateur of competition runner, can show their hard training effort to us. For elite runners there is of course an extra challenge: running a new course record. And once again for the youngest generation runners there will be kids runs. Of course nothing beats a running feast that starts and finishes in the historic Olympic Stadium where you are encouraged by hundreds of spectators along the Amstel River, under the passage of the Rijksmuseum and in the Vondelpark. No matter what time you will set, these are memorable moments for everyone. And did you know that the marathon itself is also rewarded? The Word Athletics have assigned in March 2020 the Platinum Label to the TCS Amsterdam Marathon because of the fast course, the excellent organisation and the strong elite field. Just like Le Champion we are extremely proud that our marathon belongs to the best 12 of the world. I want to express my appreciation and gratitude to the board and the employees of Le Champion and all volunteers that make this edition possible. But also toward the sponsor Tata Consultancy Services, title sponsor since 2011, that decided to stay linked to the event for five more years. And Mizuno and Run2Day have also extended their contract. This is a sign of great trust and brings a steady course towards the 50th edition.

Ik weet zeker dat het TCS Amsterdam Marathon weekend ook dit jaar weer een fantastische belevenis wordt. Ik wens iedereen succes en natuurlijk heel veel plezier!

Startvakken De startvakken zijn op het veld in het Olympisch Stadion. Na binnenkomst via de marathonpoort kom je op het veld en word je verwezen naar het juiste startvak. De startvakken zijn ingedeeld naar de verwachte eindtijd. De kleur op jouw startnummer correspondeert met de kleur van jouw startvak.

Starting areas The starting areas are on the field inside of the Olympic Stadium. After entrance through the marathon gate you will be directed to your starting area. Each starting area corresponds with an expected finish time. The colour on the bib number corresponds to your permitted starting area.

De toegang via de marathonpoort is om 8.15 uur open. Je dient uiterlijk om 8.50 uur op het veld te zijn, na deze tijd is de toegang tot het stadion afgesloten. In ieder startvak is een beperkt aantal toiletten, we adviseren gebruik te maken van de toiletten buiten het Olympisch Stadion. Er kan géén kleding worden achtergelaten in het stadion. Dit wordt direct na de start verwijderd.

The marathon gate opens at 8.15 hours. You must be on the field by 8.50 hours at the latest. After this time the entrance to the stadium will be closed. There is a limited number of toilets in the starting area, we advise you to use the toilets outside the Olympic Stadium. No clothing can be left in the stadium. Any clothing left in the stadium will be removed the moment the race starts.

Finish De finish is in het Olympisch Stadion voor de eretribune. Na de finish ontvang je jouw medaille en warmtevel (indien nodig). Ook is hier water beschikbaar. Wij verzoeken je na het passeren van de finishlijn direct door te lopen. Buiten het Olympisch Stadion krijg je bij de verzorgingspost banaan en een flesje AA Drink.

Finish Participants will finish at the Olympic Stadium in front of the grandstand. At the finish you will receive your medal and heat sheet (if necessary). Water is also available here. After crossing the finish line, please try to keep moving. Outside the Olympic Stadium you will receive a bottle of AA Drink and banana.

Tijdslimiet: 6 uur Je dient onderstaande km-punten voor genoemde tijd te zijn gepasseerd. • 20 km 12.19 uur • 5 km 10.12 uur • 25 km 13.01 uur • 10 km 10.54 uur • 42,195 km 17.00 uur • 15 km 11.36 uur Lopers die op basis van het passeertijdenschema worden ingehaald door de bezemwagen en dus de gestelde tijdslimiet zullen gaan overschrijden, worden gevraagd hun race te beëindigen en uit veiligheids- en gezondheidsredenen plaats te nemen in de bezemwagen. Mocht je, ondanks het verzoek, toch besluiten jouw race voort te zetten, dan doe je dit op eigen risico. Het parcours wordt immers, na het passeren van de bezemwagen, weer vrijgegeven voor al het wegverkeer. Tevens worden de verzorgingsposten opgeruimd en is het niet meer mogelijk om in het Olympisch Stadion te finishen. Mocht je uit de race worden gehaald, dan kom je niet in aanmerking voor een medaille. Kilometeraanduiding en tijdregistratie Bij de marathon staan bij de start en op diverse km punten digitale klokken. Iedere 5 km wordt jouw tijd geregistreerd en op ieder km-punt staat een bord.

NK Marathon De Atletiekunie heeft het Nederlands kampioenschap officieel toegewezen aan de TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2021. De prijsuitreiking voor het NK marathon zal om 12.00 uur voor de mannen en om 12.10 uur voor de vrouwen plaatsvinden op het veld in het Olympisch Stadion, na de internationale prijsuitreiking. Voor de categorieën masters is de prijsuitreiking om 13.30 uur op het Olympisch Plein. Het Olympisch Plein bevindt zich tegenover de internationale vlaggenparade en de I Amsterdam letters. Tijdens de TCS Amsterdam Marathon kunnen atleten de officieuze uitslagen vinden in de race app.

Dutch National Marathon Championships event The Dutch Athletics Federation (Atletiekunie) has selected the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2021 as the Dutch National Marathon Championships event. The winners of the men’s and women’s Dutch National Marathon Championships will be presented with their awards on the field of the Olympic Stadium at 12.00 and 12.10 hours respectively. For the masters categories, the award ceremony will take place at 13.30 hours on the Olympic Square. The Olympic Square is located opposite the international flag parade and the I Amsterdam letters. During the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, athletes can find the unofficial results in the race app.

De gidsen van Tourist Run Amsterdam begeleiden je in groepjes van 10 tot 15 personen door Amsterdam, langs de prachtige grachten en onder het Rijksmuseum door. Je kunt kiezen uit twee afstanden: 3,3 of 6,5 km. Genieten staat voorop! The Good Morning City Run is a short, guided, warming up run at easy pace on saturday before the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. The guides will lead you in groups of 10 to 15 runners under the Rijksmuseum and through the Amsterdam city hearts with it’s beautiful canals. You can choose between two distances: 3,3 en 6,5K. It’s not a race, so enjoy! EVENT MERCHANDISE • EVENT MERCHANDISE In samenwerking met Mizuno is er een officiële merchandise collectie ontwikkeld voor de TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2021. De collectie bestaat onder andere uit schoenen, hoodies, shirts, shorts en tights. De kwalitatief hoogwaardige kleding heeft typische running- en Amsterdam prints en is een bijzonder aandenken aan jouw prestatie. De merchandise kleding is alléén verkrijgbaar in de merchandise stand. Je vindt de stand aan de waterzijde van het Olympisch Stadion, ter hoogte van de Nadruk Gelukbrug.

In collaboration with Mizuno, an official merchandise collection has been developed for the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2021. The collection includes shoes, hoodies, shirts, shorts and running tights. The high quality sportswear with running and Amsterdamthemed prints will be a great souvenir of your performance. The merchandise items are only available in the merchandise stand. Mizuno Wave Skyrise 2 x Rijksmuseum Together with the Rijksmuseum Mizuno developed a special TCS Amsterdam Marathon shoe. Japanese kimono’s with cranes from the Rijksmuseum are the source of inspiration for the design. Cranes are symbol for happiness and eternal youth and can be found in styled form on the shoe. The main goal is to share beautiful Japanese art and tradition with runners and to inspire them on their journey: before, during and after the marathon. BUSINESS RUN • BUSINESS RUN Starttijden De TCS Marathon start om 9.00 uur in het Olympisch Stadion. Voor bedrijven en goede doelen is er geen speciaal startvak, de teamleden worden ingedeeld op basis van de verwachte eindtijd.

Starting times The TCS Marathon will start at 9.00 hours in the Olympic Stadium. There are no special start pens for the Business and Charity Run, these are placed based on expected end time.

De TCS 8 km start om 09.44 uur op de Amstelveenseweg. Bedrijven en goede doelen starten in het tweede startvak ‘Geel’ (startnummers 51.50052.499).

The TCS 8K will start at 9.44 hours on the Amstelveenseweg. Business and Charity teams start in the ‘Yellow’ second pen (bib numbers 51.500- 52.499).

De Mizuno Halve Marathon start vanaf 13.00 uur op de Amstelveenseweg. Bedrijven en goede doelen starten in het tweede startvak ‘Geel’ (startnummers 23.25125.750). Businessruimte Op de eerste verdieping van het Amsterdamse Proeflokaal (op het Stadionplein) is er speciaal voor deelnemers van de Business Run en Charity Run een ruimte gereserveerd. Deze ruimte is geopend van 7.30 tot 17.00 uur, er is catering aanwezig (tegen betaling). Toegang is op basis van startnummer en een coronatoegangsbewijs via de CoronaCheck-app. Vergeet dan ook niet om een geldig ID-bewijs mee te nemen. Inleveren kleding Speciaal voor de deelnemers aan de Business Run en Charity Run is er op de eerste verdieping van het Amsterdamse Proeflokaal een extra inleverpunt voor de kleding. TOESCHOUWERS • SPECTACTORS Toeschouwers kunnen op diverse locaties van de TCS Amsterdam Marathon deelnemers aanmoedigen. Een bijzondere locatie is natuurlijk het Olympisch Stadion, waar de start en finish plaatsvinden. Voor toeschouwers in het Olympisch Stadion is een coronatoegangsbewijs via de CoronaCheck-app verplicht. Vergeet dan ook niet om een geldig ID-bewijs mee te nemen. Aanmoedigen langs het parcours kan zonder coronatoegangsbewijs. Wel verzoeken wij toeschouwers drukke locaties te vermijden. Voor het reizen in Amsterdam kan gebruik worden gemaakt van de metro of de aangegeven parkeerlocaties. Start t/m 13 km en 37 km tot finish In het Olympisch Stadion kun je gratis plaatsnemen op de (overdekte) tribunes bij zowel de start van de marathon als tijdens de finish van alle afstanden. Let op! Een coronatoegangsbewijs en een geldige legitimatie zijn verplicht. > Dichtstbijzijnde metro: Amstelveenseweg of Zuid (volg vanaf hier de looproute naar het stadion) Deelnemers aan de hele marathon passeren het Vondelpark twee keer. Tijdens de eerste doorkomst hebben ze er net 2 km opzitten en tijdens de tweede doorkomst al 40. Een ideale plek dus voor een succeswens en dat laatste steuntje in de rug. > Dichtstbijzijnde metro: Vijzelgracht Ook de Stadhouderskade is een mooie plek om aan te moedigen. Vanaf hier lopen de deelnemers aan de marathon op 4 km onder het Rijksmuseum door, een prachtig gezicht. Op de terugweg hebben zij hier 38 km in de benen en kunnen ze wel wat support gebruiken. Spectators can support participants at various locations of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. An outstanding location is ofcourse the Olympic Stadium, where the start and finish take place. In the Olympic Stadium, a corona virus entry pass via the CoronaCheck-app is mandatory for spectators. Don’t forget to bring a valid ID with you. A corona virus entry pass is not required for cheering along the course. We do ask spectators to avoid crowded locations. The underground railway or the parking locations indicated can be used to access the event. Start to 13 km and 37 km to finish In the Olympic Stadium you can take a seat in the (covered) stands for the start of the marathon and for the end of all distances. Pay attention! A corona virus entry pass and valid ID are required. > Closest metro: Amstelveenseweg or Zuid (then follow the pedestrian route to the stadium) Participants in the full marathon pass the Vondelpark twice. During the first round, they will have completed just 2 km and by the second, they will be at 40. So it’s an ideal spot for cheering them on and giving them a boost towards the finish line. > Closest metro: Vijzelgracht The Stadhouderskade is also a great place to cheer the runners on. From here, the participants in the marathon run right through the Rijksmuseum, at 4 km. It’s a stunning sight! On the way back, they will already have covered 38 km and may need a little support. Avoid crowds here. > Closest metro: Vijzelgracht and de Pijp 6 to 9 km The participants in the full marathon run across the Zuidas, which is known for its stunning architecture showcased in the various offices and apartment buildings. The Beethovenstraat also provides a chance to see the runners twice. > Closest metro: Zuid > Closest car park: Mahler 13 km-point The sharpest turn in the course is located at the end of the President Kennedylaan. Je vindt hier op 16 km een verzorgingspost en ook vindt hier, vlak voor doorkomst van de eerste marathonlopers, een van de Mini Marathons plaats. > Dichtstbijzijnde metro: RAI > Dichtstbijzijnde parkeergelegenheid: P15 en P16 Europaboulevard Ter hoogte van Ouderkerk aan de Amstel lopen de marathon deelnemers om te keren over de Brug Oranjebaan. Hier vind je een aantal restaurantjes waar het in afwachting, of na passage van de lopers, prima vertoeven is. Er is geen metro, maar wel (betaald) parkeren mogelijk op Amstelparking (Amstelzijde, 1184 TZ Amstelveen). 26 t/m 31 km Na de passage langs de Amstel lopen de deelnemers aan de hele marathon 5 km over het Amstel Business Park. Met de metrostations Overamstel en Van der Madeweg langs het parcours een perfecte plek om aan te moedigen. Op het 27 km-punt vind je de Polar DJ booth, waarvoor deelnemers en toeschouwers hun favoriete liedjes konden doorgeven. Ook wordt hier een verzorgingspost ingericht. > Dichtstbijzijnde metro: Amstel Het marathonparcours in Amsterdam wordt geroemd om zijn snelle en vlakke parcours. Met een kleine onderdoorgang onder de Wibautstraat op het 37 km-punt zit het venijn hem in de staart. Juich de lopers omhoog en over de Torontobrug, op naar het Vondelpark. > Dichtstbijzijnde metro: Weesperplein

14 to 26 km From 14 km, the full marathon runners begin the stage that runs along the Amstel. This stage covers around 12 km and by the end of it the runners will have passed the halfway stage and be heading home. At 16 km, you will find a First Aid point and one of the Mini Marathons will be held here too, just before the arrival of the first marathon runners. > Closest metro: RAI > Closest car park: P15 and P16 Europaboulevard At Ouderkerk aan de Amstel the marathon runners make a turn across Brug Oranjebaan. Here, there are several restaurants where you can sita nd relax while waiting for the runners to arrive or once they’ve passed by. There is no metro but there is (paid) parking at Amstelparking (Amstelsijde, 1184 TZ, Amstelveen). 26 to 31 km After the stage along the Amstel, the runners in the full marathon cover 5 km through Amstel Business Park, where you will find lots of music, entertainment and plenty of other spectators. With the metro stations Overamstel and Van der Madeweg along the course, this is a perfect location for cheering the runners on. At the 27 km-point you will find the Polar DJ booth, participants and spectators were able to pass on their favourite songs. Avoid crowds here. > Closest metro: Overamstel and van der Madeweg 32 to 37 km This is the start of the hardest leg for many of the runners, where they will really need cheering supporters! > Closest metro: Amstel Just a bit further along, at the 33 km point, a second Mini Marathon will take place on the Galileïplantsoen. There will also be a First Aid point here. > Closest metro: Amstel The Amsterdam marathon course is known to be a quick, flat route. But there’s a sting in the tail, with a short passage under the Wibaustraat at the 37 km point. Zo bieden we op onze cateringpunten herbruikbare bekers aan, scheiden we het afval, zal er een Le Champion Green Team aanwezig zijn, maken we zoveel mogelijk gebruik van vaste stroompunten en stimuleren we de deelnemers met het openbaar vervoer naar het evenement te reizen. Goed doel De TCS Amsterdam Marathon steunt KWF Kankerbestrijding. Iedere Nederlander krijgt ooit te maken met kanker. Of je het nu zelf hebt, of iemand om wie je geeft, kanker ontwricht je leven. Voor al die mensen maakt KWF al 72 jaar het verschil. Deelnemers die via Ren tegen kanker meedoen aan de TCS Amsterdam Marathon hebben samen al ontzettend veel geld opgehaald. Dit bedrag komt ten goede aan baanbrekend kankeronderzoek in het Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam. Wat een geweldige prestatie!

Sustainability The TCS Amsterdam Marathon wants to contribute to a healthy and active society and a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages, by inspiring and enthusing them to exercise. This objective also directly contributes to the promotion of sustainability. We also strive to organize the events as sustainably as possible. For example, we offer reusable cups at our catering points, we separate the waste, a Le Champion Green Team will be present, we use fixed power points as much as possible and we encourage participants to travel to the event by public transport. Charity The TCS Amsterdam Marathon supports KWF. Every person in the Netherlands will at some stage be touched by cancer in one way or another. Whether you have it yourself, or someone you care about has it, cancer disrupts lives. For all those people who experience living with cancer directly or indirectly KWF is making a difference, already for over 72 years. Participants who run against cancer have already raised a lot of money together. This money will benefit ground breaking cancer research in the Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam. An amazing achievement!

Ook kun je op donderdag 14 t/m zondag 17 oktober terecht bij onze Helpdesk aan de zuidzijde van het Olympisch Station. Internationale Prijsuitreiking De prijsuitreiking van de snelste drie mannen en vrouwen overall is om 11.45 uur op het veld in het Olympisch Stadion. Er is géén prijsuitreiking voor de Mizuno Halve Marathon en de TCS 8 km. Kledinginname De kledinginname van de TCS Marathon vindt plaats in tenten rondom het Olympisch Stadion. Deelnemers aan de Mizuno Halve Marathon en TCS 8 km kunnen terecht op het plein voor Sporthallen Zuid. De kledinginname is gratis en op eigen risico. Losse kleding kan niet mee het stadion in. The service is free but we are not responsible for any stolen or missing items. It is not allowed to take loose items of clothing into the stadium. Medaille graveren Iedere deelnemer ontvangt na de finish een medaille. Deze medaille kun je na afloop nog specialer maken door deze te personaliseren met jouw naam en prestatie. De stand vind je nabij de brug tussen het Olympisch Stadion en Sporthallen Zuid. Indien je dit bij inschrijving besteld hebt, staat er een medaille symbool op je startnummer. Ter plekke kost het € 10,00.

Medal engraving All participants who cross the finish line receive a medal. To make yours even more special, you can personalise it with your name and finish time. You will find the stand near the bridge between the Olympic Stadium and Sporthallen Zuid. If you ordered an engraved medal when you registered, there will be a medal symbol on your bib number. On the day it will cost the € 10.00.
