SOCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORT
Mr. Glenn Jeffcoat
Our social functions for the year started in February with the Cricket Day, which was a “Wash Out” again, but we will try again in 2009.
In March Members and their partners/ guests celebrated 100 years of Rugby League with a Cocktail Party at the Terrace Bar/Lounge at the Bulldogs Leagues Club, it was a great night and the ladies all enjoyed their treat of cocktails to start the night.
The monthly Sunday night feast was once again very popular with an average of 25-30 people attending different restaurants (Chinese, Thai, Pizza/Pasta). Guests at the Centenary Cocktail Party
Next was our night at the Trots, we had a great night as usual with some leaving a little richer.
Then our night of nights the Blue & White cabaret was again a great success the room looked spectacular and lots of food and drinks were well consumed by all. Congratulations to Richard Daizli who was presented with his Life Member’s jacket on this night.
Life Member’s Night held at the Leagues Club was again a very enjoyable night and it was good to see some older referees mixing with our new young members. The Sorbent Awards were again a highlight with “Hannah” making a surprise appearance.
Golf Day had a change of venue this year with 35 teeing off at Rosnay Golf Club at Auburn, which proved to be very successful with good feed back from members. The 2009 Golf Day will again be held at Rosnay Golf Club.
The Kids Picnic/Xmas Lunch was held at the Wentworth Hotel Flemington. All orders were placed with Santa and the kids had a great day.
A big thanks for their great support this year to Elayne, Joe Attard, Adam Gee, and Matt Farrelly for their help.
I will not be seeking re election for the position of Social Secretary next year so I would like to thank all those who have helped and supported me over many years it has been greatly appreciated.

Golf Committee Report The Golf Day this year was held at Auburn Golf Course and this proved to be a popular choice as many players commented on the good quality of the course. Thirty-nine players hit off and all had an enjoyable day.
Refreshments were served after nine holes and this was followed by lunch at the conclusion of 18 holes. I wish to thank Glenn Jeffcoat, Lionel Brown and Joe Attard for organising the food and drinks on the day. I would also like to thank Col Turnell, Cliff Haynes and Peter Longhurst for tallying the scores once again. They did a fine job as usual.
Finally, thanks to Mitch Hoffmann and Matt Farrelly for their help on the Golf Committee. Golf Day next year will be at Auburn Golf Course again, on the 1st November.
