COACHING COORDINATOR’S REPORT

This year the coaching course program commenced in early March with six new candidates in attendance, who demonstrated a willingness to learn. All six candidates became association members.

Three other courses were conducted, which attracted some good prospects. Within these groups were two sons of existing members, Jeremy Fuller and Andrew Elias which total nine of this combination within the association.

Season 2008 had a total of four NRAS courses delivered to budding candidates. The newly structured development group who visited and presented the NRAS programmes to high school student in their classroom, this group was lead by Tony Danks and assisted by Doug Keen, these candidates gain Schools Referee qualification and some progressed into the Canterbury ranks. There were also adult candidates who were involved in training through Tony and Doug’s programmes.

This year a number of members gained movement within the accreditation scheme, Level 5 David Abood. Level 3 Joe Attard, Glenn Jeffcoat, Adam Gee, Jimmy Oliveira and Lionel Brown. Level 2 Greg Fuller and Nathan Loveday. Level 1 Mini / Mod and /or International there six member progressed and Preliminary Level were four.

I wish to thank all the members who assisted the new referees in their first season, also to the executive for support this year. To Mario Cafarelli for imparting his experience in the field of touch judging, which is a module of the NRAS scheme.

Finally many thanks to Joe Attard and Glenn Jeffcoat for their help and support again in conducting these courses. Also to Chris Cafarelli who assisted with touch judging eduction for all new candidates.
