SHSH Homestay Program • All host families share the Sacred Heart goals. • Host families go through a rigorous screening process. • All meals and transportation assistance is included in the Homestay fee. • Students become part of the family and have a loving and safe home while they attend Sacred Heart School of Halifax. • Host families will take students on 1-2 cultural outings per month.
SHSH Homestay Accommodations The student homestay accommodations will include: • A private bedroom with a twin, double or queen sized bed with a closet and dresser. • A private or shared bathroom that is kept clean. • Clean linens and use of the laundry facilities. • A quiet well-lit study area with a desk for student use. • Wifi Internet and use of the TV.
International Student Society at SHSH The International Student Society plans monthly trips and events for the International Students like: • The Harbour Hopper • A City Market Tour • Halifax Mooseheads Hockey Game • Ice Skating at the Emera Oval • Sugarmoon Maple Syrup Farm

Academics Senior High • A well-rounded preparatory programme for advanced academic study, tailored to the learning preferences of our girls and boys. • Grades 10 through 12 are credit bearing years. Students accumulate credits for high school graduation. • Requirements for the SHSH Graduation Diploma: 18 credits from grades 10, 11 and 12 with at least 6 credits at the grade 12 level and a grade 10 Language credit. Students typically complete 22-24 credits.

University Courses
Experiential Learning The goal of the Experiential Learning Program is to give students academic credit for learning which takes place beyond the classroom in a real-world environment. Students are eligible to claim one credit in either grade 11 or 12. Pre-approval must be sought from the Principal. The deadline is May 15th of the previous year. The internship can be in the areas of Business, Academic Research, or The Fine and Performing Arts and must take place for the length of the school year in which the credit is granted.
