Our goal is to continue to provide our customers with exceptional personalized service and support, and a combined expertise in book binding while offering the world’s superb leathers and bookbinding supplies and tools. - Al & Marla Mechling, owners _____________________________________________________ ____
Welcome to Mechling Bookbindery & Bookbinders Workshop! Al and Marla Mechling’s passion for researching their family history led to collecting and rebinding old county histories, which developed into a garage-based rebinding business in 1995. Their new-found company, Mechling Bookbindery, quickly outgrew its boundaries and was moved to a full-scale manufacturing and shipping facility. For the past two decades, the company has been providing book printing, bookbinding and book restoration services. The Mechlings acquired Bookbinders Workshop in 2013, moving it from New York City to Chicora, Pennsylvania. The list of services and products expanded to include high quality leathers, bookbinding supplies and tools, and training videos for the bookbinding trade. Together both companies now operate from one distribution center, which is able to accommodate unlimited growth and increased service and selection of goods for their customers.
WHY MECHLING IS DIFFERENT? In spite of its successful growth, Mechling Bookbindery retains its friendly, hands-on service— so rare in today’s depersonalized business world. That personal approach is extended to every caller by dedicated, knowledgeable staff members, who are always available during business hours; and by the company’s graphic designers, who work one-on-one with clients, guiding them through each phase of their projects. Blending the use of time-honored methods and equipment, and modern technology—including the latest graphic design software and state-of-the-art digital printing, Mechling Bookbindery offers solutions for both old and new books, as well as other printed and covered projects. All formatting, cover design, printing and binding are completed in-house, where quality control is at its most precise. With the addition of its binding materials line, Mechling Bookbindery has a much wider selection of leather types and colors for its book binding customers; and can supply bookbinders and craftsmen with the world’s finest bookbinding leathers, tools, supplies and training videos. Simply put, Mechling Bookbindery takes the mystery out of how to get solid craftsmanship and high quality binding supplies, with personalized service and support from trustworthy professionals who truly care about their client’s projects.

Unlike other website companies that promote "quick and easy" ordering online and "24 hour book printing", we prefer the personal approach. Whether you are a fir st-time or a seasoned author, we understand that you want someone who will work one-on-one with you, guiding you through each phase of your project to ensure everything is done properly, your way. You've spent a tremendous amount of time in preparing your manuscript, so the need to rush the printing process should be the least important factor. Our graphic designers will work closely with you along the way, checking your files and helping with layout and design as needed. Many times we can prevent potential problems long before the books are printed and bound. And before production begins, we provide a hard-copy proof for your approval, showing you exactly how your completed books will look. And, we keep copies and records of all our past printing and binding projects making reorders as simple as a phone call. Download our free "Guide To Self-Publishing" with information on files, ISBN numbers, copyright, fonts, and so much more!
Customer Reviews "Relative to my experience with Mechling Bookbindery and its employees, my wife, Rosalie, and I cannot say enough. The professionalism and courtesy extended us on both this and my previous book has been most welcome. We investigated many bookbinders when selecting a publisher for my first work. The fact that I elected to return to Mechling for my second book is perhaps the best testimony I can offer. I look forward to working with Al Mechling and his staff when I publish my third book in spring of 2015."
