All physical areas of the building such as the gym, pool, and fitness center begin to close 15 minutes prior to the building closing and Monday through Friday the pool closes 30 minutes prior to closing.

AFTER SCHOOL ADVENTURE CLUB

The After School Program runs from the end of school until 6 PM. Students will be transported to the YMCA by First Student. Interactive & structured afternoon events will be planned & rotated daily. They will include homework jump-start, arts & crafts, board games, fun fitness classes, structured gym games, swimming and outside play time (weather permitting). Additionally the After School program will include community partnerships to offer healthy living opportunities to the participants.

NORTH BOONE Y KID’S CLUB

The Belvidere Family YMCA is excited to continue to provide Before and After School Care to the students at Poplar Grove Elementary, Manchester Elementary, Capron Elementary & Upper Elementary. Before & After Care will be provided at Poplar Grove Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. Transportation to and from Manchester, Capron & Upper Elementary schools for the program at Poplar Grove Elementary will be provided by North Boone School District.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES

TEEN NIGHTS (5th-6th) (7th-8th Grade)

The YMCA staff will host teen nights on select Fridays throughout the school year. Check the virtual backpack & our social media the week prior to teen night for each theme!! Students are not allowed to enter the dance after 8 PM and cannot leave until 9:30 PM unless a parent comes in to pick them up. Refreshments are available for purchase. Security is present at all teen nights. 5th & 6th grades night will be held on a different Friday from the 7th & 8th graders.

In an effort to provide our members with the highest quality lessons with the most consistency, we do not offer make-up lessons. System credits will be granted with a doctor’s note or in extreme circumstances with the permission of the Director. Please understand there are times when instructors do get sick & cannot be in class. When this occurs, we will provide a substitute instructor.

SILVER SNEAKERS CLASS

These classes combine fun & fitness to increase your cardiovascular & muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, & a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic movements. A chair is offered for support, head to toe stretching & complete relaxation in a comfortable position. This class is designed for 65 & older.

YMCA CODE OF CONDUCT

*Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent unless in a structured program or the playroom

*An adult must accompany children under the age of 13 after 7 PM unless in a structured program

*Parents are responsible for the actions of their children

*Parents with children in the playroom must be in the building

*For Health and Safety reasons TOBACCO OR VAPING PRODUCTS IN ANY FORM ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING OR ANYWHERE ON YMCA PROPERTY.

*Program Members are limited to use of the building only during the time/area of the class they are attending.

GUEST POLICY

The YMCA sells guest passes to those who are not members. No one under the age of 16 using a guest pass is allowed to use the Wellness Center/Weight Room. Members in good standing will receive three guest passes a year. Anyone purchasing a guest pass is expected to behave in an appropriate manner, failure to do so could result in suspension of facility usage including permanent suspension.

WELLNESS CENTER/WEIGHT ROOM

The Wellness Center is available to members 13 years of age & older. Orientations on proper use of the machines and training etiquette are available at no charge for members by calling 815-5475307 to schedule an appointment with one of our Wellness Center Staff. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed in the Wellness Center/Weight Room and we ask that they please not sit in the hallway. Those ages 11- 12 who have taken the Goal Setters class are allowed but we ask that they wear their Goal Setters tag they have been given. Due to liability issues, members under the age of 11 are not allowed in the Wellness Center/Weight Room.

REFUNDS/POLICIES

Program refunds by check will be granted approximately 30 days from the date of the request for the following reasons only:

1. Medical excuse

2. Bank draft error on the YMCA’s part

3. YMCA cancels class

- All refunds will be applied as a system credit unless a monetary refund is requested.

- No refunds or make-ups for classes, or programs that fall on holidays, or for weather-related cancellations, including power outages.

- We do not prorate for late sign ups.

- No refunds will be made once a program or session has started unless for medical reasons and a doctor’s note will be needed.

- Fitness classes run the first two weeks of the session. If classes do not reach their minimum requirement of attendance after two weeks, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel the class & you will receive a prorated refund.

- The YMCA does not accept postdated checks. A $30.00 NSF fee will be applied for any returned checks or bank drafts.

Vernon Edward Ott

Vernon Edward Ott passed away on November 12, 2022. He was 90 and 17/ 24 years old. So close to 91! Vernon was born November 13, 1931, in Lakeside Township, MN, to William & Mildred (Mumford) Ott. He was the 4th of 9 children, attended school until the 8th grade and then helped with the farm. In 1954 Vernon was drafted into the Army.

He was in the Army from November 1957 to November 1959, during which he spent 18 months in Germany. While in Germany, he was able to tour a lot of Europe. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Polinder on February 24, 1962, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia, MN.

Vernon & Dorothy were farmers in Onamia, MN, until their move to Belvidere, IL, in 1968. He worked at Chrysler for 26 years. While employed by Chrysler, Vernon earned his GED. After retiring in March of 1994, Dorothy & Vernon returned to Minnesota. They lived in Aikin, MN in a house on Lone Lake. During this time, they did a lot of fishing & took many guided bus tours throughout the USA & Canada. They also enjoyed spending time with family & friends. Vernon & Dorothy returned to Belvidere in 2007. Vernon enjoyed fishing, playing cards, word searches, gardening, tinkering in the garage, & going to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Vernon looked forward to going to the Boone County Fair every year to watch the tractor pulls & look at the antique tractors. He especially enjoyed spending time with family & friends.

Vernon is survived by Sons: Lynn, Tom, & Todd (Kathy) Ott. Daughter: Paula Catalani. Granddaughters: Melody Turner, Christina (Joel) Perez, & Clarissa (Jerry) Vogel. Great-grandsons: Brayden McLaughlin, Christian, & Joseph Perez. Sister: Minnie Gilbert and brothers: William & George Ott. Brothers-in-law: Earl (Eunice), Gary (Vivian), & John Polinder. Sisters-in-law: Carol Ott, Alice Polinder, Trynie Hanson, Louise (Sam) Miller, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy. Grandson: Gregory Larson. Brothers: Edwin & Henry Ott. Sisters: Goldie Ott, Sylvia (Curtis) Stempf & Leona (Joseph) Huonder. Brothers-in-law: Al Gilbert & Raymond Hanson. Sisters-in-law: Betty Ott & Sally Polinder

Services will be Saturday, Nov. 19th at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere. Visitation at 9 am. Celebration of Life at 10 am.
