emergency.

Knowledge The second item to have on hand (or in head) is knowledge. Take a course, have a book or booklet on hand, create a checklist for your home and family, because sometimes it’s hard to remember what to do under pressure.

Have the Right Stuff You know there are many things you should have on hand just in case, but are your emergency essentials also eco-intelligent? We hope the suggestions on the next page help you out, but most importantly - think smart + be safe!

The following products are not just good to have in case of an emergency, but also for smart, healthy living everyday. We believe in prevention, not just eco-reactions.

STAY SAFE!

Bottles and Jars If you find yourself with an emergency warning, you can either rush out to buy evil bottled water, or you can fill your own mason jars, bottles and containers that you've saved from your kitchen with tap water! It's healthier for you, for us all, and saves a trip to the store to spend your hard earned dollars, too!

Coconut Water If you find yourself without tap water, you still need to drink! Coconut water is nature's best electrolyte, and has more potassium than a banana, low acidity, no fat, no sugar added and no cholesterol. It hydrates better and faster than water. Plus, no one should ever buy or drink evil plastic bottled water!

Emergency Candle Don’t get stuck with standard paraffin, lead-wicked candles that emit black soot and fumes (because breathing that in may cause a different kind of emergency!). Would you believe that this safe, chem-free, 100% pure beeswax candle can warm water + food, plus give you warmth + light? That’s comforting. (Just make sure you have matches!)

Bandages Imagine a bandage that is free of icky PVC, and still sticks! Plus all of their packaging is made from recycled and/or biodegradable materials.

Stay Full Canned foods are typically something to stay away from for number of reasons, but have on hand because it’s ready to eat! Most cans are lined with BPA (even the govt has declared that as dangerous!) so choose Eden who uses BPA-free linings and certified organic ingredients.

Alternative Energy Use a multi-functional, solar charged, crank powered device that you can always count on. No batteries required. We need light, sound and most certainly our smartphones, so purchasing a quality flashlight/radio/charger that requires your energy and not an outlet.

Healing Ointments Go to your local health store or see a naturopath and they will be thrilled to help you put together your kit. For itch relief , we love Apis, for pain relief we use Arnica, to soothe and treat burns and wounds our choice is Aloe Vera, and we rely on Thera Wise ointments for so much. Explore alternatives - this stuff really works!

Polar Fleece Blankets Polar fleece blankets can commonly be found using recycled material (make good use of those evil water bottles?) They are also lightweight, and water repellent, so they are easy to travel with and are great for any physical activity. Find them
