Clovenfords”
Four miles west of Galashiels, Clovenfords is a much sought after village because of its quaint style and historic 18th century country inn/restaurant – the village dates back to circa 1750 and was located on the stagecoach route between Carlisle and Edinburgh – but also its strong sense of community, range of village activities for all ages, and a new primary school that opened in 2012 and is heated by ground source heat pumps. A former 18th Century coaching inn, the Clovenfords Hotel was a regular stopping-off point for Sir Walter Scott when he was travelling between Selkirk and Edinburgh prior to moving to the Borders – a statue of Scott stands in the forecourt of the hotel. This is a home that ticks all the boxes for location, size, style and presentation – a real charmer in every sense.
