BSPC People . . . who’s in-house? Each issue we get to know a BSPC professional from one of BSPC’s member firms and this week we are speaking to - Debbie Scott from Melrose & Porteous Tell us about your role within Melrose & Porteous?

What do you enjoy most about your job?

As Property Manager my duties at Melrose & Porteous include all estate agency matters from appraisals to offers with the trusted help of my property assistants Alan Young and Marlyn Austin.

I have always had a passion for property in general. I trained as an Architectural Technician from leaving school and have worked either in a drawing office or estate agents over the past 20 odd years. I feel my architectural background allows me to see the true potential in every property.

How long have you worked with the firm? I joined Melrose & Porteous in July 2013.

What keeps you busy when you’re not at the office?

What’s your greatest achievement? I am just thankful for everything I have achieved so far.

Name two things you can’t live without?

With two boys aged 11 and 15 I don’t have much spare time out of the office.

The internet and Prosecco.

Where’s your favourite place in the Borders?

Sunday dinner at my mum and dads, can’t beat my mum’s cooking.

The River Tweed and its path right the way through the Borders.

Tell us about your home or dream home? Renovation or conversion project from concept to completion.

What’s your favourite Borders eatery?

Who is your favourite author/ artist or designer? Claude Monet after visiting his home in Giverny close to Coldstream’s twinned town of Bennecourt, and seeing the famous lily ponds as well as his eclectic collection of Japanese prints and furniture.

What would be your ideal holiday? After watching Billy Connolly’s world tour of New Zealand I would love to visit and tour New Zealand.

What’s playing in your car right now? I thought I would never say this but Radio 2!

What natural talent would you like to have? Fluency in several languages.
