We have exciting news to share.

Borealis has reached a new stage in its evolution. We are finally in a position to move 100% of our production to the high-end GP87 snowboard factory. We’re pleased to be working with Dan Agundes, GP87’s owner who has 30+ years of board shaping and building experience.

Our vision for the production of nature-inspired and epic-looking snowboards has been realised. So, for 2023-2024, our tenth anniversary, we’ve been able to craft our most premium, durable, optimised and outstandingly qualitative board collection ever. -

WHO WE ARE THE STORY BEHIND BOREALIS

Borealis is a French snowboard brand created in 2013 by Ben Hall, a French-English snowboarder who grew up between Geneva in Switzerland and the French Mont-Blanc Region. Thanks to our 30-plus years of experience combined with extensive feedback from some of the best riders out there, Borealis is proud to offer you gear that is both high performance and incredibly comfortable to ride. Each model has its own identity and style, created to match your riding experience and technique. Much of our equipment is hand-made using eco-friendly materials such as natural bamboo, VOC-free resin and sustainably-grown wood. -

Ten years later, our engagement hasn’t changed and we continue to search for, test and implement new solutions for our gear. These solutions allow us to cut our manufacturing carbon footprint whilst leaving less unsustainable materials on the planet. -

CONSTRUCTION

Surely the most important aspect of sustainability: durability. We are so confident in the exceptional quality of our boards that they all come with an industry-leading 4-year guarantee.

• FSC©-CERTIFIED

WOOD

We use wood harvested from sustainably managed forests that have a positive impact socially, economically and environmentally.

ZERO-VOC EPOXY RESIN

The resin we use has been tested for many years to provide a long-lasting bond for bomb-proof performance. It doesn’t contain VOC (volatile organic compounds) to preserve the board makers’s health and the planet.

DNA BIOPLASTIC TOPSHEETS

Plant-based bioplastic ultra-thin sheets used on the boards that don't have a veneer topsheet. They are super resilient and limit the adherence of snow for a smoother, lighter ride.

ONE BALL GREEN BIODEGRADABLE WAX

All our boards are factroy-waxed with One Ball Green fluroine-free, biodegradable wax.

RECYCLED STEEL EDGES

All our boards are built using recycled steel edges (50% recycled steel minimum).

•

FLAX LANDING PADS

We use natural flax pads to counter binding impacts and reduce vibration.

• DIGITAL PRINTING

We replaced all silkscreen printing with digital printing. This uses less ink and does not require water to clean screens.

FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE

Our gear is designed with high-performance in mind. When up on the mountain in variable conditions, approximation is not an option. Our award-winning equipment is tested and ridden by professional riders, snowboard magazines, snowboard shops and of course, happy Borealis owners.

As ethnobotanist and philosopher Terence McKenna once said "Nature is the great visible engine of creativity, against which all other creative efforts are measured". Our shapes and graphics are created with this idea in mind: to offer original, well-balanced timeless designs that please the human eye, often inspired by naturally-occuring patterns, colours and shapes. -

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

Bamboo Topsheet

Most of our boards are built with a natural bamboo topsheet. We also use bamboo as part of some of our wood cores. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world. Its capacity to renew itself quickly makes it the ideal candidate in our quest for low-carbon footprint materials. Naturally resilient, snappy and light, it is the perfect material to make amazing snowboards with great pop, reduced vibration and unmatched control.

At Borealis, our bamboo veneer undergoes a unique process during which its fibers are infused with Greenpoxy©Bio-Resin and sanded in order to make them ultra-light, rock-solid and weather-proof. We call this technique Permafrost Technology.

DNA Bioplastic Topsheet

Plant-based bioplastic ultra-thin sheets used on the boards that don't have a veneer topsheet. They are super resilient and limit the adherence of snow for a smoother, lighter ride.

Vibragum Topsheet

Top protective layer engineered to limit vibration and offer long-lasting performance to your board.

Multiaxial Fibreglass

We use diffent types of fibres to attain differents types of flexes in our boards. Triax sandwhich for a powerful, incisive and responsive feel, biax for a more tolerant ride. A mixture of both is used in some boards.

Flax Impact Pads

We use natural flax pads to counter binding impacts and reduce vibration. Models: Leviathan - Shaman - Alpine.

FSC-Certified UL Forest Core

All our wood cores are FSC-Certified, which means the forests they come from are socially, economically and environmentally viable, allowing today's and long-term needs to be met durably. The UL Forest Core is made of paulownia wood for lightness, beech and ash woods for strength and with added vertical bamboo parts for extra pop and durability. Thinner tip and tail for reduced swing weight.

FSC-Certified Element Core

All our wood cores are FSC-Certified, which means the forests they come from are socially, economically and environmentally viable, allowing today's and long-term needs to be met durably. The Element Core is a super light wood core made from a blend of special woods reinforced with basalt. Dynamic, snappy and durable.

Zero-VOC Resin

We use Zero-VOC Resin which doesn’t contain Volatile Organic Compounds. Traditonal epoxy resin is the biggest polluting factor in snowboards construction. This alternative is essential to protect the environment and the workers making your board.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

P-Tex 5920 Graphite Base

This premium high-molecular density base is simply the best base material available on the market. Reach mind-blowing speeds in no time on any terrain and snow temperature. High impact-resilience and great wax-absorption.

4001 Sintered Base

This premium high-molecular density base is a high-end option. Super fast on any terrain and snow temperature. High impact-resilience and great wax-absorption.

Reversible Base Colours

This base comes in reversible colour combinations to reduce base material waste.

Carbon Power Beams

Our carefully-studied carbon reinforcement matrix are designed for each board's needs. Whether the aim is to boost pop, stability or precision, these beams are the central nervous system of your ride, making it more dynamic and swift.

Liquid Sidewalls

Liquid PU is poured into a channel following the perimetre of the board. This unmatched bond between the core and other materials makes the board ultra-resilient. Its inherent gum-like nature reduces all unwanted chatter and vibration. Your riding experience then becomes super smooth and less stressfull for your legs.

Recycled Steel Edges

All our spitboards and some of our snowboards are built using recycled steel edges. Our aim is to use it on all models in the near-future (50% recycled steel minimum).

Sidewaves

Extra contact points are added to the sidecut to improve edge-hold and carve through tough and icy terrain like a blade slicing sashimi.

Phantom® Hercules Splitboard Hooks
