Laura van der Heijden Cello Recital Winner of the BBC Young Musician Competition at the age of fifteen in 2012, cellist Laura van der Heijden has already made a name for herself as a very special emerging talent. Laura has played the cello since the age of six, studying at the Royal College of Music where she has been a student of the renowned British-Russian cellist Leonid Gorokhovat since 2008. Last year’s highlights included her debut performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Sinfonia Cymru, as well as performances of Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the WWI commemorations.
