NEWS Out of this world! Bo got the honour of singing the Star Trek: Into Darkness theme song (for the UK release). A huge achievement and a personal one too as JJ Abrams is one of her heroes. The song is called The Rage That’s In Us All and was co-written by Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol and the film’s director JJ Abrams.
New single! We’ve had Save Me, then Alive. Now Bo’s 3rd single is The Hands I Hold, as revealed in an interview at T In The Park. The video is out today and is directed by James Lawes (the man behind The Fall and Alive) and the video involves Bo getting covered in oil and water..

Glasgow gig review By Taylor Johnston I’ve been a huge fan of Bo Bruce for a long time now; the first time I noticed her was on the show “The Voice” where I instantly fell in love with her Style, sound and beautiful angelic voice. When I heard she was coming to Glasgow, it was honestly an amazing feeling that I’d get to see one of my idols that I’ve supported for so long perform live, and in such a small, intimate venue. I was first in line for the show and made my way in to the front row where I was pleasantly surprised by “Boxes” her support act, standing on the stage making last minute tweaks on guitar/effect pedals. I actually spoke to him a few times prior to this as he was keeping me updated on how his experience with the “Bo Bruce” tour was going. He was a really cool guy in person and I couldn’t wait for the show to begin. More and more people came in and started to pack the room as “Boxes” took to the stage as the first support act. I didn’t know what to really expect from his live performance but I was completely taken by surprise as he was using joy sticks as drum triggers and loop pedals to re-create a full band sound. He was also a really down to earth and friendly guy as you could tell by his light hearted banter with the crowd. Next up was Tommy Reilly. Again, I didn’t know what to expect but was completely amazed at how raw and original Tommy’s voice and over all sound was. His songs were catchy, melodic and he also had nervousness about him that you could tell was channeled right into the performance as his presence was quite electric.

The time had now come, the stage was being set, and the soft fairy light wrapped around the bass drum lit up the name “Bo Bruce”. Her band Sam Kennedy (guitar/keys) and Grant Kershaw (Drums/Percussion) were now on stage and playing a short intro which sounded powerful and upbeat ready for Bo’s appearance, the music died down and the first song from Bo’s album “Landslide” was fading in. Bo entered with a beautiful long, bronze dress which (and I don’t know a thing about fashion) looked stunning! When she sang, it gave me chills and I knew then I was in for a night of magic. She played through all her hits off the album including “Alive” and “Save me” which got the crowd moving and singing along to her every word. There was also the beautiful rendition of Coldplay’s “Charlie Brown” placed into the set which Bo covered on the voice. Bo’s energy and performing abilities were mesmerising, I felt her happiness, her pain and her sorrow throughout every song she sang and she definitely took us into a different little world of our own to experience her beautifully written and composed songs. She ended on a high with the last song of her album called “Speed The Fire” which punched a hole in your soul as the bass drum echoed through the venue. Overall, I was amazed by all acts who performed, especially Bo, who I would definitely go see live again and again and again. I was honoured to meet Bo at the end of the night and get my ticket signed and a quick photograph with her. We had a small chat about her time in Glasgow and how she felt about the venue and crowd, she seemed over the moon and I was as well! I hope to see her live/meet her again real soon! Was definitely the highlight of my 2013.
