Landscape Renewal Design on the Area of the Three Hills and Five Gardens: Case Study of the Area between Yihe Palace and Jingming Palace,Beijing
The contradiction between the urbanization and the historical landscape is common in the process of urbanization. In this process, the key architecture and garden often can be preserved, but the landscape heritage surrounding regions tend to be ignored by people. The fact is not only the main body architectures and gardens are important, but the surrounding environment also has very important value for the heritage. In Chinese classical gardens, there is often an important relationship between the internal scenic spots and the external environment, and many scenic spots are formed through the borrowing of scenic spots. Nowadays, urban development gradually pays attention to these problems, and also begins to protect the surrounding environment and update the surrounding landscape. Beijing as a historical rich city in China is faced with a series of problems, as a model of Chinese imperial garden, three mountains five gardens system will undoubtedly influence on city planning greatly, now three mountains f ive gardens surrounding areas have been highlighted, but update the effect is not very desirable, surrounding environment is divided into large and small park roads, to avoid The response to history is only reflected in local construction and scenic spots, and the macro water system and landscape are not better sorted out. It has not fully played the role of the surrounding environment of heritage.
The surrounding area of the existing three hills and five Gardens has been planned as a green park. This design hopes to update the surrounding area of the heritage from the perspective of history through the excavation of the landscape memory, bring the experience of landscape memory from the macro and micro perspectives, and at the same time take into account the landscape overlooking from the inside of the cultural heritage.

Timeline of the Development of Beijing's Three Hills and Five Gardens
Excellent natural conditions in Beijing.
Temples and private gardens with gardens in the Western hills of Ming Dynasty.
Kangxi emperor transformed Yuquan Mountain into “Chengxin Palace” and built a palace near Xiang Mountain.
Yongzheng emperor expended Yuanmingyuan Palace in 1725.
Some palaces in the Three Hills and Five Gardens have been destroied after the war in 1856.
The Jin Dynasty built "Eight water courtyards" in the West Mountain area as the eight detatched palaces permanent residence for the emperor outside the capital, generally referring to the residence of the emperor when he went on tour.
After the QING ARMY entered the pass, the emperor did not like to stay in the imperial palace for a long time because of the influence of the safari culture. Shunzhi emperor preferred to live in the place where the scenery was beautiful, often in the South Palace and the West Palace.
Axis Analysis Diagram of Three Mountains and Five Gardens
Kangxi emperor built Changchun Palace and some palaces which are built to granted to the favourite ministers, such as Yuanming Palace, Zide Palace and Shuicun Palace in 1680.
the chosen area boundery of palaces axis of three hills and five gardens
The project of the Three Hills and Five Gardens almost finished in 1737 by Qianlong emperor, who spent the most time on palaces.
the Present Situation of the Three Hills and Five Gardens
The project of repairing the Three Hills and Five Gardens started in 1924.
Partial gardens were preserved, most of the buildings were destroyed, and the landscape pattern was preserved.
The Three hills and five Gardens form a complete garden system based on the natural topography combined with the axis layout. Now the system is gradually blurred, and the axis layout is only reflected in the three hills and five gardens. The overall axis relationship of the three hills and five gardens should be fully considered in the renewal process.
Most of the buildings were restored and retained. The pattern was slightly adjusted. And some gardens in the garden were damaged and not repaired.
Known as Xiangshan Temple, most of the site has been preserved.
The scope is far less than the prosperous period. It is famous of Yufeng pagoda and Yuquan Mountain.

MEMORY OF NATURE
Tourist Service Center Design
Thousand Lakes Desert is located in La Keis Maraheses National Park in Maranhao state, Brazil. The world's unique Thousand Lakes desert landscape attracts a large number of tourists every year to appreciate this wonder. The design selected the desert lakeside near the town through the analysis of natural conditions.
The project aims to create a small visitor service center for visitors to stay and rest, for people to escape the summer, rest, eat, and popularize knowledge of the desert.
How to adapt the building to the harsh desert environment and integrate into the surrounding environment is the biggest problem of this design. Through the analysis of natural historical changes, water volume and wind direction, the final building simulating the shape of dune is generated. The architectural design does not make too many adjustments to the external environment, and is more like the existence of a tent. In other words, the building is integrated with the existence of desert.

THE MEMORY OF CULTURE
Landscape Renewal Design in Wudaokou Area
The site is located in the site range of Wudaokou(the fifth intersection of the rail) in Haidian District of Beijing, which was formerly the crossing area of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway. The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway has historical significance in the development process of China, so this area is named after the Wudaokou of Beijing-Zhang Railway. This area has rich cultural memory. At the same time, Wudaokou shopping mall U-Center is the food capital of the surrounding college students. Outside of culture, the site is crossed by Subway Line 13.
The design aims to retain the cultural connotation of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, address the needs of the surrounding university students, the elderly and children, and deal with the adverse elements in the site. The cultural connotation of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway is preserved through multiple nodes, so that the humanistic memory of the site can be preserved.

History of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway
Jeme Tianyou presided over the construction of China's railway proposal, namely the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, after four years of acceptance, Jeme opened the construction of China's railway prelude.
Construction of the railway officially began on September 4, 1905, and the track was laid on December 12. The paving was extremingly difficult .
The railway was completed on August 11, 1909 and opened to traffic on October 2, a total of four years. It is the first trunk railway built by Chinese people and put into operation without the use of foreign personnel.
The second Civil War (Liberation War) led to repeated destruction of the Pingsuiyuan Railway .
After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the section OF the GUANG 'anmen Station to the north, from Hankou in Xuanwu District of Beijing to Xizhimen Railway Station, was dismantled, and Xizhimen Station (Beijing North Station) became the starting and ending station of the Beijing-Bao Railway.
The year 2009 marks the 100th anniversary of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, and the relevant authorities have declared the remains along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou
Railway as cultural relics under protection.
On November 1, 2016, due to the construction of the BeijingZhangjia-Beijing high-speed railway, the Beijing-Bao Railway north to Changping section was suspended, and the four, five and six roads (Shuangqing Road) located in Haidian District of Beijing were all dismantled.
In January 2018, it was selected into the first batch of China's industrial heritage protection list.
Status quo of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway
The abandoned section is not well maintained and some areas become abandoned land.
In the construction area, shopping malls and parking lots will be constructed with the BeijingZhangjiashan Railway as the symbol

Preserve the site to update the old station buildings and maintain the original style.
the History of Wudaokou Area
· The railway was opened to traffic. Wudaokou is the level crossing between Chengfu Road in Haidian District and Beijing-Zhang Railway.
· The nearest railway station to Wudaokou is Qinghuayuan Station. Later, due to development needs, the railway station moved 1.5 kilometers to the southeast, forming the later new Qinghuayuan Railway Station.
Historical Changes of the Site
· Qinghuayuan Station of the Old Beijing-Zhang Railway has finished its freight business, completed its historical mission and ceased to be used.
· Beijing Rail Transit Line 13 was officially opened, and one of the stations is Wudaokou.
· On October 31, 2016, the new Qinghuayuan Railway Station built in the 1950s also ceased operation. The tracks on the floor of Wudaokou were then removed, and the place became "No crossing".
· By the end of 2019, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou highspeed railway will pass under Wudaokou. The Beijing Metro Line 13 is in the air and the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed rail is underground.
Almost all around Wudaokou are farmland and villages. As a child, his favorite places to go were the Wudaokou Shopping Mall and the Wudaokou Workers Club. · In Lao Xu's memory, Wudaokou Shopping Mall is a commercial area, with department stores, non-staple food, catering, hairdressing, Xinhua Bookstore, etc., providing one-stop services for food, clothing, housing and transportation.
· Wudaokou Workers Club was formally established in October 1957. The cinema of the club, because of the cheap ticket price, is very popular among college students and surrounding residents. · The Workers' club carries the memory of a generation. In the past 60 years, it has made important contributions to enriching people's spiritual life and developing regional cultural undertakings.
· Nowadays, Wudaokou Shopping Mall has long been replaced by the fashionable and modern Wudaokou Shopping Center(U-Center).
· The Graduate Department the People's Bank of China established in Wudaokou. the predecessor of "Tsinghua University Wudaokou of Finance" and an important position of China's modern finance and monetary economy. The legend that still performs Internet company erupts again again. In 1992, Peking University Science and Technology was born. In 1994, China connected to the Internet. them, Wudaokou is a landmark.

Structure Design and Construction
The theme of this competition is “Geometry | Tour of Mountain “, which aims to find a basic geometry as the starting point of spatial logic, experiment and explore the path from part to whole, find the contrast relationship between geometry and “nature” – artificial landscape, and extend this relationship to the body. Team of Beijing Forestry University believes that this building activity can be compared with the ancient garden stacking mountains. The material selection is like selecting stones and the building is like stacking mountains. The idea is exactly what Zhang Nanyuan, a mountain stacking master, hopes to “enter the Rock Valley”, which is intended to shape the state of ” a world in a pot”. After the competition, the work “Red Rock” was built for the second time on the lawn of Beijing Forestry University, becoming a unique campus landscape for students, teachers and nearby residents to enjoy and play.
