RECAPPING LAST FRIDAY AT THE WHIT No. 17 Boston College trailed by a goal late on the road, but sophomore Austin Cangelosi tallied the equalizer with 4:45 remaining in regulation to escape with a point in a 2-2 draw on Friday night at New Hampshire. Cangelosi’s late marker stood as his first goal of the season and first multi-point performance of 2014 after assisting on rookie Zach Sanford’s opening strike at 13:06 of the first period. Junior defenseman Michael Matheson turned in his second multi-assist game of the season, doling out a helper on both Eagle goals. Second-year goaltender Thatcher Demko matched a career best in back-to-back contests. The San Diego native stopped 37 of UNH’s 39 attempts while his counterpart, rookie Adam Clark, stopped 26 shots on 28 Boston College attempts. Both clubs were granted a pair of power play opportunities on the night, but neither team could convert.

- Austin Cangelosi scored his first goal of the season and his first-career game-tying goal with a rip at 15:15 of the third period. The Estero, Fla., native also assisted on Zach Sanford’s second goal of the season for his first multi-point performance this year.

CAT CALLS New Hampshire is still looking to find its stride as the first half of the season starts to wind down. The Wildcats are 4-8 overall with just one victory in five tries in Hockey East action. UNH is hungry for a victory as the Wildcats are in the throes of a three-game losing streak, having lost to Rensselaer, Providence and Northeastern in reverse order their last three trips. New Hampshire had a promising start with wins over Michigan (5-1, Oct. 17) and Colorado College (6-2, Oct. 25) in dominating fashion but then went on the first of its second three-game skid starting on Oct. 31 with loses to UMass Lowell (2-0, 8-2) and Michigan State (4-3). Tyler Kelleher leads UNH with nine points, including four goals and five assists, while UNH touts a pair of rookies in the top 50 amongst first-year skaters. Andrew Poturalski (44-8) and Warren Foegele (1-4-5) are tied for 21st and 32nd, respectively, amongst all NCAA rookies in scoring. Speaking of freshmen, rookie Adam Clark has taken the reins in net for New Hampshire and holds a 2.56 goals against average (42nd) and .903 save percentage (59th). Clark has started all 12 games for the ‘Cats. Both the club’s offense and defense ranks near the middle of the pack. The defense is tied for 29th, surrendering 2.67 goals per game while the offense is tied for 32nd, scoring 2.50 goals per game. The special teams’ units have not experienced the same harmony. The Wildcats have done a fine job keeping the puck out of the net on the penalty kill, having prevented 40-of-45 (88.9 percent) opponent power play chances but have only been able to score on 4-of-44 (9.1 percent) opportunities. NO-PANIC NOVEMBER Boston College posted a 3-6-0 mark in the month of November, finishing with a .333 winning percentage. That mark stands as the Eagles’ roughest November since the 2007-08 season. Boston College did not win a game in November 2007, finishing with an 0-3-3 mark for a winning percentage of .250. That year, the Eagles turned it around by winning the Beanpot, Hockey East Tournament championship and 2008 National Championship in Denver. DOUBLE GOOSE EGGS Boston College has not been shut out twice in a season since the 2011-12 ledger. That year, the Eagles went on to hoist their fifth national championship in Tampa. BC has been shut out by Providence (1-0, Nov. 29) and UConn (1-0, Nov. 5) so far this year. The Eagles have not been shut out three times in a year since the 2003-04 season.

Eaglesin140 - Boston College’s 3-6 mark in November is the lowest since a 0-3-3 total in 200708 - BC went on to win the national title in 2008 #InYorkWeTrust - Thatcher Demko has recorded 37 saves in back-to-back to games, marking a career best #WeAreBC - Austin Cangelosi’s first goal of the season counted as his first-career game-tying goal #WeAreBC - Jerry York is now the winningest coach in Boston College history, surpassing Snooks Kelley with 502 career wins on The Heights #InYorkWeTrust @BCHockeynews | #BCvsUNH | #WeAreBC

REACHING NEW “HEIGHTS” On. Nov. 21, 2014, at Massachusetts, the Eagles secured a 5-3 victory to make Jerry York the winningest coach in Boston College hockey history. Heading into the contest, York was even with his former coach John “Snooks” Kelley at 501 total victories. Following the 5-3 decision, York holds the claim as both the winningest coach at his alma mater (503-249-68) and in college hockey history (970-584-102). POWER PLAY IS PARAMOUNT Scoring on the power play has proved to be key to the Eagles’ success in the early goings of the 2014-15 schedule. Boston College has scored at least one goal or more in five of its seven victories thus far. Conversely, the Eagles are 2-7 when denied a power play goal. In all, Boston College has converted six of its 61 chances at a rate of 9.81 percent which ranks 49th in the country right now. TOUGH THROUGH TWO Boston College has proved how important it is to get out ahead early. The Eagles are 6-1-0 with a lead after two periods of regulation, yet have not come back to win a game while facing a deficit through 40 minutes of regulation. The Eagles are 0-4-0 when down after two periods of play. REMEMBER THE LAST TIME BC LOST FOUR GAMES? The last time Boston College lost four consecutive games, you would have to look back to the 2003-04 season when the Eagles lost to UNH (3-2 - Feb. 28), Maine (3-0 and 3-4, March 5-6) and BU (3-2, March 11). That season, the Eagles went on to compete in the 2004 Frozen Four, in Boston, eventually falling to Maine in the national semifinal, 2-1, on April 8, 2004. BC snapped its recent four-game slide in a 3-2 triumph at Michigan State on Nov. 14. SHUTOUT STREAK STOPPED UP BC was shutout at Connecticut on Nov. 5 in the first-ever meeting between the Eagles and the Huskies. The Eagles owned the longest streak in the country of scoring at least one goal in 106 games with their last shutout transpiring on Jan. 13, 2012, at UMass. In 813 games behind Boston College’s bench, Jerry York has been held scoreless only 20 times total. OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT The Eagles scored six goals in back-to-back games on Oct. 18 and Oct. 24 against RIT and Colorado College, in that order. The last time Boston College combined for 12 goals in two games was last season when the Eagles defeated Boston University, 6-4, and Maine, 7-2, back-to-back on Jan. 17-18, 2014. Under Jerry York, Boston College has combined for 12 goals or more over the span of two games all but three times in a single season. The only seasons BC has never scored 12 or more goals in back-to-back games was 1994-95 (first season), 2003-04 and 2012-13. BABY BIRD(S) Rookie defenseman Noah Hanifin is not just the second-youngest player in all of college hockey, he is the second-youngest player EVER to don the maroon and gold. The Norwood, Mass., native will not turn 18 years old until Jan. 25, 2015. Michigan’s Zach Werenski (DOB: July 19, 1997) is college hockey’s youngest player. Boston College, as a whole, is the secondyoungest club in college hockey behind Boston University. Last season, BC goaltender Thatcher Demko owned the distinction of being college hockey’s youngest player.

EagleHallCALL One-third of the BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame - Class of 2014 - was made up from the men’s ice hockey contingent. These three Eagles were enshrined into the BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 17, and were recognized at halftime of the Eagles’ football game against Clemson.

WERESTILLNOTING BC: THE NHL’s FIRST CHOICE Not only did Boston College lead all of college hockey in 2013-14 by dispersing 26 Eagles across the National Hockey League, BC has placed 18 skaters on opening night rosters for the 2014-15 NHL season. That mark is tops in Hockey East. In regards to college hockey, seven first-round picks are among the nearly 200 NHL draft picks on college rosters, including at least one on 40 teams. Boston College is the only team in the country with two first-round draft picks, including junior captain Michael Matheson (Florida – 23rd) and Alex Tuch (Minnesota – 18th). CHANGING OF THE GUARD Following yet another 25-win year, fourth in the last five seasons for Boston College, the Eagles leapfrogged Boston University in all-time win percentage in Hockey East play. In 30 seasons, the Eagles have compiled a 444-248-73 record for a league-best 62.8 win percentage in 30 seasons as a found member of Hockey East. SEASON 26 AT KELLEY RINK BC celebrates its 26th season of playing hockey on Kelley Rink at Conte Forum. Starting in 1988, the BC’s overall record at Kelley Rink is 291-114-35 (.701). The Eagles played at McHugh Forum prior from 1958-86 when Boston College posted an overall mark of 282-95-10 (.748).

Jeff Farkas played four years on the Eagles’ hockey team. In 2000, Farkas earned All-America accolades, was a Hobey Baker finalist, and received the Norman F. Dailey Memorial Award given by the Pike’s Peak Hockey Club to the team’s MVP. During his incredible career, the Eagles finished with an exemplary 99-5214 record with two Hockey East Championships and three Frozen Four appearances.

#TEAMDREWBROWN Hockey East is all about competition and brotherhood. Providence College’s Drew Brown will miss this season as he battles Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. For those that would like to help donate to Brown’s cause, the fundraising campaign is called “Dropping Mitts Against Cancer”. More information is located here: gofundme.com/93da50

The sport of ice hockey at Boston College - as we know it today - would not exist without the efforts of William M. Hogan. A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Hogan was instrumental in resurrecting this treasured sport at BC, following suspension of hockey as a varsity sport during the Great Depression. When the team gathered at Boston Arena for its first varsity game, the players unanimously voted Hogan as team captain.
