The Eagles have been on a tear lately and much of the credit can go to the Grando - R채s채nen - Hutsko as this triumvirate has been crushing it. Christopher Grando, Aapeli R채s채nen and Logan Hutsko are BC's leading line, combining for 10 goals and 15 assists (10-15-25) and are a combined +19 on the season. They have skated together 11 times this year as the Eagles have gone 6-5-0 since they've joined forces.

Freshman Logan Hutsko is currently on a four-game point streak after assisting on Christopher Grando's second goal at UVM on Nov. 11, the longest of any Eagle this season. During that tear, the Tampa, Fla. native has accounted for six points (2-4-6) over the course of the last four games. Casey Fitzgerald (0-2-2), Aapeli Rasanen (2-1-3) and Grando (2-3-5) have also registered points in consecutive games.

OFFENSIVE AWAKENING

It's no secret the Eagles' offense has been a bit more stagnant than in years past, but on Nov. 10-11 at Vermont, Boston College combined for nine goals and boosted the offense up to 2.33 goals per game. The nine goals are the most in a weekend for BC thus far.

Hutsko currently leads the Eagle offense in points scored with 10 (3-7-10). The Tampa, Fla. native is tied for second amongst all rookies in Hockey East in points scored, averaging 0.83 per game, and is tied for 16th nationally.

GRANDO THE GREAT Christopher Grando leads BC with five goals and is tied for eighth in the league and 87th, nationally, with 0.42 goals per game.

Boston College's defense continues to limit the Eagles' lamp being lit as BC is now limiting its opponents to 2.67 goals per game. That number is tied for 20th, nationally, and is fourth in Hockey East heading into UNH / NU.

Sophomore goaltender Ryan Edquist earned his second win of the 2017-18 season after stopping 23 shots in a 5-1 victory at Vermont. It marked his third start of the season as Edquist defeated UConn on Nov. 7 and stopped a career-best 42 shots at St. Cloud on Oct. 20. The Lakeville, Minn. native also came in with 1.6 seconds left at Merrimack and made a game-tying save to preserve an Eagle victory.

TRADING IN THE WINGTIP HELMET FOR A SET OF EAGLE WINGS Graduate transfer student Kevin Lohan recorded his first point in the maroon and gold with the assist on Grando's short-handed, game-winning marker. It marks Lohan's first point since assisting in a 10-6 win over Ohio State when he was at Michigan on Jan. 16, 2015.

KILLIN' IT Boston College's penalty kill is staving off oppnents' power plays at a rate of 83.1 percent (49-of-59) and is currently 21st in the nation and fourth in Hockey East. BC has kept its opponents off the board on the power six times this season,

THE BRICK WOLL Sophomore backstopper Joseph Woll has stopped 219-of-243 shots faced in his first nine outings for a .901 save percentage which is currently tied for 53rd in all of college hockey while his 2.66 goals against average ranks 36th in the game. Woll has stopped 1,131 - of - 1,242 shots faced (.911 save percentage) with a career mark of 2.64 goals against average. Woll was also one of 20 goalies named to the watch list for the 2018 Mike Richter Award, which annually honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I menâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hockey.v

BOSTON COLLEGE vs. NORTHEASTERN The battle of the heavies makes its way to Saint Botolph Street as the first-place Eagles and second-place Huskies duke it out at Matthews Arena. BC and Northeastern met three times last season and despite the Eagles claiming the regular-season series with a pair of 2-1 and 5-3 wins, Northeastern arguably kept BC out of the NCAA Tournament last season after it beat Boston College in the consolation round of the Beanpot, 4-2, on Feb. 13, 2017. Boston College is 4-0-1 in its last five trips to Matthews Arena, including a game-winning short-handed game winner from Michael Kim with 23 seconds to play last year on November 29, 2016. In all, the Eagles lead the Huskies 165-50-16 with a 78-30-11 advantage in Hockey East tilts. The last time Boston College lost to Northeastern at Matthews Arena, NU curbed BC’s 19-game winning streak that culminated in BC’s last national title in 2012 by topping the Eagles, 3-1, on Oct. 13, 2012. BC has dominated the series from the onset, winning 57 of the first 65 installments. Over the course of the last four seasons, Jerry York is 16-3-1 against Northeastern’s Jim Madigan.

HOUNDING THE HUSKIES Northeastern skates into Saturday's big matchup after pulling off a come-from-behind victory, much like the Eagles, to defeat Vermont last night, 2-1. The Huskies have won five of their last six games and boast a 7-3-1 mark with a 5-1 record in conference play, four points behind BC in the conference standings. Northeastern is home to one of college hockey's top three scorers as Dylan Sikura is tied for third in all of college hockey, averaging 1.67 points per game (6-9-15). NU also sports a top-10 goal scorer in Adam Gaudette as the junior has accounted for 0.73 goals per game (8 total). Both Sikura and Gaudette cause most of their damage on the power play, each tied for third, nationally, with four power play goals thus far. Jeremy Davies, a sophomore defenseman, is fourth in the NCAA amongst all blue liners in scoring, averaging 1.09 points per game (2-10-12) while freshman Zach Solow is college hockey's third-most productive freshman with 1.18 points per game (3-10-13). Offensively, Northeastern possesses Hockey East's most lethal offense and third, overall, as the Huskies are averaging 4.09 goals per game. The defense has been stout as well, tied for 13th in the NCAA, allowing only 2.45 goals per game. Northeastern's scoring margin of +1.64 is third best in the nation while the power play, operating at a success rate of 25.9 percent (14-of-54) is seventh best in college hockey.

GRANDO THE GREAT Freshman forward Christopher Grando had a breakout performance in BC's weekend sweep at Vermont on Nov. 10-11 and was heralded as the Hockey East Player of the Week. The Islip, N.Y. native accounted for five points (2-3-5), including a big showing on Nov. 11. Grando started off the weekend in Friday's 4-3 victory at Gutterson Fieldhouse with his first-career multi-point performance in the maroon and gold, doling out a pair primary assists and a +3 rating. He followed that with his first-career two-goal game, including the short-handed game-winning goal. Grando is Hockey East's first freshman to be named outright Hockey East Player of the Week since New Hampshire's Patrick Grasso on Oct. 31, 2016.

THAT'S WHAT WE CALL A WWWWWINNING STREAK Boston College is now on a five-game winning streak, its longest stretch since last season when the Eagles rattled off six-straight wins from October 28 to November 13. It also marks Boston College's first true road sweep after taking out Maine on back-to-back nights on Nov. 4-5, 2016. BC is tied with North Dakota and Notre Dame for the fourth-longest unbeaten stretch in college hockey.

TWO FOR DU Junior JD Dudek skated in his 86th game as an Eagle on Nov. 11 at UVM and had previously recorded an assist in 14 separate outings. That game marked his first-career multi-assist showing as he helped out on a pair of BC goals.

GIVING GOALIES In addition to sophomore Ryan Edquist's second victory of the season, the Lakeville, Minn. native also recorded his first-career assist, making the save and swatting it out to Kevin Lohan in the slot. It marks the first assists for a Boston College goaltender since Thatcher Demko tallied one against UMass Lowell on Feb. 22, 2016.

SHORTY SZN Christophher Grando and Julius Mattila both have tallied short-handed goals this season. They are two of 36 skaters in the NCAA with at least one short-handed goal in 2017-18.

ATOP THE LEADERBOARD Boston College might have had a slow start in the non-conference slate, but the Eagles have responded rather thunderously in conference play. Winning their last five games (Merrimack (2) , UConn, Vermont (2)) and an OT win over Providence, the Eagles are all alone in first place in the Hockey East standings by four points over Northeastern, having accrued 12 points with a 6-1 record to the early goings of the conference slate.

IN THE COLD OCTOBER RAIN It's no secret Boston College has skated off to a 1-5-1 start in Novrmbrt, but the Eagles, by far, had the toughest nonconference schedule in the country. In October, combined, BC's opponents went 23-6-3 and are currently ranked No. 1 (Denver), No. 2 (St. Cloud State), No. 6 (Providence), No. 7 (Wisconsin) and No. 11 (Quinnipiac), respectively. The Eagles look to turn the page on October and turn things around in conference play. The Eagles have turned things around in November, sweeping Merrimack on Nov. 3-4 to start 2-0 on the season.

FITZ ON THE FRITZ Junior defenseman Casey Fitzgerald notched his second-career two-goal game (at Holy Cross – Oct. 22, 2016), including the overtime winner 69 seconds into the extra session to give the Eagles their first win of the season at Providence on Oct. 15. Fitzgerald’s game-winning goal stands as the third of his career as the North Reading, Mass. native accounted for a pair last season. For his big showing, the captain was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16.

DÉJÀ VU The last time Boston College scored an overtime winner was when Casey Fitzgerald's older brother, Ryan, scored the walkoff winner in game three of the Hockey East quarterfinals two years ago against Vermont on March 13, 2016.

THE EAGLES GO MARCHING IN The Eagles fell victim to a 3-0 deficit in the first 25:16 of regulation at Providence on Oct. 15. Boston College gathered itself and stormed back from a three-goal deficit to win for the first time since November 16, 2012 when the Eagles came back and beat Merrimack at home, 4-3.

THE ROARING 20s A funky note came to light following Boston College’s 1-1 tie against Quinnipiac in the home opener on Oct. 6. Boston College recorded its first regular-season draw to open the season since the 1922-23 season, and second ever in program history with the 1-1 stalemate on Friday night. The Eagles tied the Boston Hockey Club on Oct. 25, 1922, 3-3.

First-year forward Jacob Tortora scored the Eagles’ first goal of the season, marking the third time in the last five seasons a rookie lit the lamp for the first time of the year. For the third time in four seasons, Boston College sports the youngest roster in NCAA hockey. As of Oct. 1, the average age of the Eagles roster is 20 years and 125 days. Boston University is second with a mean just two days short of 20 years and 127 days. Michigan is the third youngest team at 20 years and 324 days.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THAT GUY... Boston College’s head coach Jerry York needs no introduction as the Eagle skipper skates into his 24th season at the helm on The Heights and 46th season in all. York’s 1,039 victories are the most of any Division I coach in the history of college hockey, more than 100 wins clear of the former leader, Ron Mason (Michigan State - 924). York is one of only three coaches in NCAA history to lead two different schools to national titles; led Bowling Green to the 1984 NCAA title, and Boston College to the 2001, 2008, 2010 and 2012 NCAA titles. OPENING NIGHT EAGLES After leading the National Hockey League with having 24 former Boston College Eagles dressing in at least one NHL game last season IN 2016-17, BC once again paces the college hockey world with the most delegates on NHL opening night rosters with 19 to start off the 2017-18 slate. Prior to NHL franchises trimming their respective clubs to their opening night rosters, Boston College led the pack with 33 alumni earning training camp invitations, followed by Minnesota (29), Michigan (28), North Dakota (28) and Boston University (27). The top six programs are: Boston College (19), Michigan (17), North Dakota (16), Minnesota (15), Boston University (14) and Wisconsin (11).

SHOW BIRDS Starting off the 2017-18 season, with 548 former NCAA players having reported to National Hockey League training camps for preseason preparation, the Boston College men’s hockey program led the way with 33 representatives spread out over 18 franchises. As has been the way in the past, the Eagles’ professional pedigree shined through as BC led all schools with 33 alumni earning training camp invitations, followed closely by Minnesota (29), Michigan (28), North Dakota (28) and Boston University (27).

DRAFTED Boston College has the fifth-most draft picks on any 2017-18 roster this college hockey season with eight, including: Joseph Woll (Toronto), Graham McPhee (Edmonton), JD Dudek (New Jersey), Casey Fitzgerald (Buffalo), Christopher Brown (Buffalo), David Cotton (Carolina), Aapeli Räsänen (Edmonton) and Michael Karow. Minnesota leads the way with 13, Boston University has 12, Michigan with 10 and Providence and Wisconsin each have nine.

SHOT CALLERS Sophomore forward Graham McPhee’s father, George, played for Coach York at Bowling Green where he won the Hobey Baker Award in 1982 and is now the general manager of the new Las Vegas Golden Knights franchise. Junior captain Casey Fitzgerald’s father, Tom, is the assistant manager of the New Jersey Devils.

THE COLDEST PROGRAM OF ‘EM ALL When the Eagles took on Quinnipiac in the 2016 national semifinal contest, it marked Boston College’s 25th Frozen Four appearance which is the most in college hockey history. BC looks to make it 26 this year in Minneapolis on April 5, 2017.

FAMILY TIES The Eagles are a tight-knit group, but even more so given the number of family ties within the BC hockey program. Not only do the Eagles sport one set of twin brothers in Jesper and Julius Mattila, but Luke McInnis, sophomore defenseman for Boston College this season, is the son of Marty McInnis who is not only tied for 39th in most goals all-time on The Heights (58), but he is also entering his fifth season as an assistant coach. Associate head coach Greg Brown is the uncle of junior captain Christopher Brown.

Jerry York’s overall record is 1,040-619-115 (.617) in 45 seasons as a head coach at Clarkson, Bowling Green and Boston College; he owns the most victories of any Division 1 coach in the history of college hockey. York is 36-13 in NCAA Tournament games as the head coach at Boston College; his 41 wins overall in the NCAA Tournament is also the highest total in Division I history.

Since Jerry York led his first Boston College team to the 1998 Frozen Four, the Eagles are one of three teams with at least 500 victories since that point. Boston College is second with 530 victories, while North Dakota (550) leads the pack. Michigan (519) is the other prorgram to have also eclipsed the 500 mark over the past 20 seasons. Upon completion of the 2016-17 season, Boston College maintained its best overall winning percentage in Hockey East history for the fourth-consecutive season. Over the course of 33 seasons in league play, the Eagles’ winning percentage of .633 (483262-84) reigns supreme in one of college hockey’s top conferences.

Sophomore forward Colin White was selected by the Ottawa Senators 21st overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the 17th Eagle in the last 30 years to have been drafted in the first round of the NHL.
