Sophomore forward Julius Mattila has been Boston College's mmost consistent offensive player since early November as the Tampere, Finland native led the Eagles with 15 points (5-10-15) through the first half of the season. The sophomore is currently on a career-best seven-game point streak having accrued 11 points (4-7-11) amidst that tear and notched at least one point in nine of his last 10 games.

The freshman duo of Logan Hutsko and Christopher Grando has paid dividends for the Eagles in the first half of the season. The freshman pair has yielded 16.2 percent of BC's early offense, combining for eight goals and 15 assists. Hutsko is tied for second in points scored (3-9-12) and is tied for second in scoring while Grando, the Hockey East Rookie of the Month (November), is fourth with five goals and six assists. Hutsko ranks 34th in all of college hockey amongst freshmen scorers (0.67 ppg) and tied for seventh in Hockey East. Grando is 40th, averaging 0.61 points per game, which is 10th in the league.

BOLD MOVE COTTON...LET'S SEE IF IT PAYS OFF FOR HIM Sophomore forward David Cotton got off to a slow start this season, but since scoring his first goal of the season at New Hampshire on Nov. 17, the flood gates have opened. The Parker, Texas native has scored at least one point in six of his last seven outings, including three multi-point performances in that run. The second-year winger is now tied for second on the team in scoring with 13 points (4-9-13) through 19 outings.

YO ADRIAAAAAAN Philadelhpia native Ron Greco tallied his fifth goal of the season, seventh of his career, midway through the third period against UConn on Dec. 30. The sophomore has accounted for four goals in his last six appearances and tied for 32nd in Hockey East, averaging 0.26 goals per game.

TWO-WAY TYPE OF CAPTAIN

Sophomore goaltender Ryan Edquist secured his first-career shutout on Dec. 30 via 23 saves against UConn in his fourth start of the season, tenth of his career. The Lakeville, Minn. native's shutout marks BC's first shutout of the season and first shutout for the Eagles since Joseph Woll blanked Vermont on March 10, 2017. Edquist also stopped a career-best 42 shots at St. Cloud on Oct. 20. The Lakeville, Minn. native came in with 1.6 seconds left at Merrimack and made a game-tying save to preserve an Eagle victory.

Junior captain Michael Kim scored his fourth goal of the season on Dec. 9 against Northeastern. The goal stands as his 10th-career marker for the captain. Kim also added an assist his sixth-career multi-point performance and second of the season, first since netting a pair of goals with two goals at New Hampshire on Nov. 17.

DEFENDING THE NEST Boston College's defense continues to limit the opposing lamp being lit as BC is now limiting its opponents to 2.74 goals per game. That number is 21st, nationally, and fourth overall in the conference. Over the course of the last 11 games, BC has given up four or more goals on only three occassions.

THE BRICK WOLL Sophomore backstopper Joseph Woll has stopped 369-of-411 shots faced in his first 15 outings for a .898 save percentage which is currently 60th in all of college hockey while his 2.90 goals against average ranks 40th in the game. Woll has stopped 1,281 - of - 1,410 shots faced (.909 save percentage) with a career mark of 2.72 goals against average. Woll was also one of 20 goalies named to the watch list for the 2018 Mike Richter Award, which annually honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I menâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hockey and is currently on his second run with Team USA at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo looking to capture gold once again.

BOSTON COLLEGE vs. NORTHERN MICHIGAN Boston College and Northern Michigan lock up for the first time in about 18 years. The last time the Eagles and Wildcats met was the 1998-99 season. The two programs have skated against one another nine times from 1984-85 to 1998-98. The Eagles hold a 5-4 advantage in those nine games and have outscored the Wildcats, 35-31. Head coach Jerry York defeated NMU 12 times as head coach at Bowling Green and once behind Boston College's bench.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN SCOOP Northern Michigan skates into Saturday's consolation meeting against BC with a 11-10-2 overall record. The Wildcats were taken out, 7-3, last night against Arizona State in the second game of the evening. Northern Michigan has lost its last two games as NMU dropped a 6-3 decision at Minnesota State on Dec. 30. Before Northern Michigan's twogame slide, the Wildcats went unbeaten in their last five games (3-0-2). Northern Michigan has four skaters with at last 20 points, including one of the nation's most prolific goal scorers in Robbie Payne. Payne is tied with Holy Cross's Scott Pooley with the most tallies in the nation (17). He is averaging 0.74 goals per game which ranks sixth in all of college hockey. Payne is also tied for 49th in scoring, nationally, averaging 1.00 points per game. Six of those 17 goals have come via the power play as Payne is one of 12 skaters in the NCAA with six or more power play markers. In all, Northern Michigan's offense (2.83 goals per game) ranks 34th in the game while the defense is giving up 2.91 goals per game, 28th in the nation. Northern's power play unit is operating at a clip of 15.3 percent (17-of-111), tied for 42nd in the land while the penalty kill is keeping opponents off the board 81.6 percent of the time (26th in NCAA).

AMERICAN EAGLE Former Boston College men's hockey captain and 2001 national champion Brian Gionta has been selected as the captain of the 2018 United States Men's Hockey Olympic Team. Gionta skated in 164 career games on The Heights and is Boston College's career leader in goals scored with 123 tallies and second in overall points scored with 232 (123-109-232) from 1997-2001. Gionta is one of 25 Eagles to have played for the U.S Men's Olympic Team and the second to ever be named captain (Brian Leetch - 1988). He is also one of six former members of the Boston College hockey program to be named to the team more than once.

REMEMBERING COACH CEGLARSKI Legendary Boston College head hockey coach and athlete Len Ceglarski, winner of 419 games as head coach on The Heights and member of the 1949 national championship team, passed away on December 16, 2017. He was 91 years old. Ceglarski is the ninth-winningest coach in NCAA college hockey history, having amassed a career record of 673-339-38 (.659). Boston College's former skipper claimed the Eagles' head coaching position at the start of the 1972-73 season, taking over for John "Snooks" Kelley. Ceglarski went on to post an overall record of 419-272-27 (.602) in 20 seasons as head coach at Boston College. In his time behind BC's bench, Ceglarski led his teams to eight NCAA Frozen Fours, four NCAA title games, six Hockey East regular season championships (in eight years) and two Hockey East Tournament titles.

CAMPOLI LEAVES PROGRAM Defenseman Michael Campoli has left the men's ice hockey program for other opportunities on Dec. 19, 2017. The Pointe-Claire, Quebec native was a sophomore this season and played in 12 career games for the maroon and gold, finishing with a +7 rating along with an assist.

David Cotton tallied his first power play goal of the season on Dec. 30 vs. UConn, fifth of his career, to tally at least one point in six of his last seven outings. Cotton is now second on the team in scoring, having posted four goals and nine assists in 19 outings. Cotton's goal also stood as the game-winning tally, marking his second of the season and team-best sixth-career game-winning goal.

DA DAH DA - DA DAH DA. On the night of November 17, Joseph Woll's sprawling save to preserve a 3-2 lead at New Hampshire was awarded the No. 2 play on SportsCenter as part of the nightly show's #SCTop10 feature.

ALL WE DO IS WIN WIN WIN (...WIN WIN WIN WIN AND TIE...) Boston College had its eight-game unbeaten streak disrupted at the hands of Boston University on Friday, Dec. 1 at Kelley Rink. Heading into the Battle of Comm Ave. on Dec. 1, it was tied for the second-longest unbeaten streak in the nation. The Eagles went 7-0-1, winning their first seven games in the stretch, marking BC's first seven-game winning streak since rattling off 11 in a row from October 16 to November 28, 2015. It marks the longest unbeaten spell since BC went 9-0-1 from October 16 to November 13, 2016.

ROAD BIRDS From Nov. 10-18, Boston College won four true road games in a row (UVM, UVM, UNH, NU). It marks the first time the Eagles have won four-straight road games since the 2009-10 season when BC defeated UMass (3-1 – Dec. 4, 2009), BU (4-1 – Dec. 5, 2009), Harvard (3-2 – Dec. 9, 2009) and Providence (3-1, Dec. 12, 2009).

ATOP THE LEADERBOARD Boston College might have had a slow start in the non-conference slate, but the Eagles have responded rather thunderously in conference play. Winning nine of their first 12 games in the first half of Hockey East play, the Eagles are all alone in first place in the Hockey East standings by three points over Northeastern, having accrued 20 points with a 10-3 record to the early goings of the conference slate.

TWO FOR DU Junior JD Dudek skated in his 86th game as an Eagle on Nov. 11 at UVM and had previously recorded an assist in 14 separate outings. That game marked his first-career multi-assist showing as he helped out on a pair of BC goals. Dudek also assisted at New Hampshire on Nov. 17, marking the first time the hometown product of Auburn, N.H. has registered assists in back-to-back outings.

GIVING GOALIES In addition to sophomore Ryan Edquist's second victory of the season, the Lakeville, Minn. native also recorded his first-career assist, making the save and swatting it out to Kevin Lohan in the slot. It marks the first assists for a Boston College goaltender since Thatcher Demko tallied one against UMass Lowell on Feb. 22, 2016.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THAT GUY... Boston College’s head coach Jerry York needs no introduction as the Eagle skipper skates into his 24th season at the helm on The Heights and 46th season in all. York’s 1,043 victories are the most of any Division I coach in the history of college hockey, more than 100 wins clear of the former leader, Ron Mason (Michigan State - 924). York is one of only three coaches in NCAA history to lead two different schools to national titles; led Bowling Green to the 1984 NCAA title, and Boston College to the 2001, 2008, 2010 and 2012 NCAA titles. He is the all-time leader in NCAA Tournament wins with 41 victories, as well, and has led 22 teams to 25 or more wins.

NOVEMBER NICE In recent years, the month of November has been very kind to head coach Jerry York's teams. Believe it or not, this is the second time in three seasons BC has won its first seven outings in the month of November as BC turned the trick in the 2016-17 season. If you include the 2013-14 season, where the Eagles went 6-0-1, Boston College is unbeaten in the first seven games of November in three of the last five seasons. In all under York, BC has gone unbeaten four times in the first seven games of November as the 2003-04 club went 5-0-2 to start the month. The Eagles finished the entire month of November unbeaten, going 7-0-1.

IN THE COLD OCTOBER RAIN It's no secret Boston College has skated off to a 1-5-1 start in Novrmbrt, but the Eagles, by far, had the toughest nonconference schedule in the country. In October, combined, BC's opponents went 23-6-3 and are currently ranked No. 1 (Denver), No. 2 (St. Cloud State), No. 6 (Providence), No. 7 (Wisconsin) and No. 11 (Quinnipiac), respectively.

OPENING NIGHT EAGLES After leading the National Hockey League with having 24 former Boston College Eagles dressing in at least one NHL game last season IN 2016-17, BC once again paces the college hockey world with the most delegates on NHL opening night rosters with 19 to start off the 2017-18 slate. SHOW BIRDS Starting off the 2017-18 season, with 548 former NCAA players having reported to National Hockey League training camps for preseason preparation, the Boston College men’s hockey program led the way with 33 representatives spread out over 18 franchises. As has been the way in the past, the Eagles’ professional pedigree shined through as BC led all schools with 33 alumni earning training camp invitations, followed closely by Minnesota (29), Michigan (28), North Dakota (28) and Boston University (27).

DRAFTED Boston College has the fifth-most draft picks on any 2017-18 roster this college hockey season with eight, including: Joseph Woll (Toronto), Graham McPhee (Edmonton), JD Dudek (New Jersey), Casey Fitzgerald (Buffalo), Christopher Brown (Buffalo), David Cotton (Carolina), Aapeli Räsänen (Edmonton) and Michael Karow. Minnesota leads the way with 13, Boston University has 12, Michigan with 10 and Providence and Wisconsin each have nine.

SHOT CALLERS Sophomore forward Graham McPhee’s father, George, played for Coach York at Bowling Green where he won the Hobey Baker Award in 1982 and is now the general manager of the new Las Vegas Golden Knights franchise. Junior captain Casey Fitzgerald’s father, Tom, is the assistant manager of the New Jersey Devils.

THE COLDEST PROGRAM OF ‘EM ALL When the Eagles took on Quinnipiac in the 2016 national semifinal contest, it marked Boston College’s 25th Frozen Four appearance which is the most in college hockey history. BC looks to make it 26 this year in Minneapolis on April 5, 2017.

York is 36-13 in NCAA Tournament games as the head coach at Boston College; his 41 wins overall in the NCAA Tournament is also the highest total in Division I history.

Since Jerry York led his first Boston College team to the 1998 Frozen Four, the Eagles are one of three teams with at least 500 victories since that point. Boston College is second with 534 victories, while North Dakota (549) leads the pack. Michigan (520) is the other prorgram to have also eclipsed the 500 mark over the past 20 seasons. Upon completion of the 2016-17 season, Boston College maintained its best overall winning percentage in Hockey East history for the fourth-consecutive season.
