welcome TO THE SALE It’s come that time of year again to welcome everyone to Red Deer, Alberta, for the 45th Edition of Red Round-up on October 20 & 21. I’m not sure how many sales have run for 45 straight years, but it shows the commitment of the Red Angus breeders who have supported this sale over the years. For the last 45 years, many cattle have gone through this sale and been productive for their new owners. I, along with many other breeders, haven’t seen the cattle selected for Red Round-up 2017 in person. I strongly believe every Red Angus breeder should make their best effort to be in Red Deer on Octoer 20 & 21 to assess these cattle along with me. This year we will have the ever-popular Junior Heifer Calf Extravaganza on Friday. You will want to bring your kids out to be part of the afternoon. The last 2 years the Heifer Calf Extravaganza has been very successfully for the juniors, and I expect this year to be even better. The juniors who enter the Extravaganza will have a chance to win a sale credit for Saturday’s sale. After the Extravaganza, I encourage you to stick around and watch the Bull Futurity Show. The Champion and Reserve Bull will be entered in the sale on Saturday.

Welcome

FROM BOUCHARD LIVESTOCK INTERNATIONAL Welcome to Red Round-up 2017. 45 years of success for the Red Angus breed is an understatement, and what a significant role Red Round-up has had. I think it is fair to say that the last half-dozen or so years have seen a bit of a changing of the guard at Red Round-up. But that only attests to the strength and demand of this great breed of cattle. Established breeding operations start their own marketing venue, while other establishments are passed from one generation to another, are all signs of success within the breed. We are very proud of the genetic offering assembled for 2017, the 45th Annual. The live cattle are second to none. Foundation building, bred females, complimented by an unbelievable group of open heifers at the top end of the breed for quality and depth of pedigree. The herdbull section is definitely worth your time to research. The frozen genetic section, as always with this breed, will combine foundation genetics and the up and coming genetics that could comprise the future of the breed. Join

Brian Bouchard Bryan Mackenzie Chad Lorenz 403.813.7999 403.627.8266 403.896.9585

us on Friday afternoon for the junior events as well as the future herdbull evaluation. Friday evening will host the hospitality evening and the annual C.R.A.P.S fundraiser. Saturday morning will be sale cattle evaluation and a complimentary noon meal, compliments of the 2017 Red Roundup consignors. Come and join us for two days of Red Angus comradery and fellowship. There will not be a better time in 2017 to strengthen your presence in this great breed of cattle. Should you require any selection assistance or are unable to be in attendance at either the fundraiser or sale, give the Bouchard Livestock International crew a call. All cell numbers are listed in the front of the 2017 catalogue. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this great event!

45th Annual Canadian Red Round-up

Welcome to the 45th Edition of the Premiere Red Angus Event in the world! To this day, the mighty Red Round-up Sale still commands the attention and respect of every Red Angus breeder out there, not just in Canada either…but all over the globe. Even now, in mid-September, I’d wager that the average Red Angus cowman might be thinking “I sure do hope the Red Round-up catalog comes today in the mail!” or the question to the wife from the cattleman who has ‘maneyes’ searching for his copy “hey hon…have you seen the Red Round-up catalog?” then it’s the dinner conversation with the enthusiastic young junior kids “You guys got your next 4-H heifer picked out of the Red Round-up catalog yet?” With today’s social media, all the texts floating back and forth and Facebook posts…the anticipation and excitement around this event continues to build. This summer traveling around, going from each consignors place to the next my level of enthusiasm for this event grew each day. I believe that by now, everyone involved in the Red Angus breed knows of my love and commitment for this sale. I look forward to visiting each consignor and searching their pastures for that next gem or treasure they have in store for the calendar year heifer calf bed or the bred heifer carousels. The expression on their faces are priceless most times as they sit in silence when I announce the numbers of the cattle I would select. I’d wager most are repeating in their minds “Please don’t take her, please don’t take her…” But they all know this about our current Red Round-up sales management team, we don’t settle…we take what we need for this sale to make it the awesome Red Angus spectacle that it is known for.

The next 60 pages will certainly lend credence to that. We have once again assembled a set for the 45th Red Round-up sale that has twists and turns, curve-balls and change-ups, and touchdowns in each and every lot!

FROM BRYAN & SHERRY MACKENZIE

W

Welcome

I commend the commitment made by all the consignors and to my sale management partners in Bouchard Livestock to give it their all for this Red Angus event. The advancement of the heifer calf extravaganza is surely going to be a highlight. We are striving to be able to give away $20 000 to the kids who participate. (Thanks for the great article and pictures in Top Stock Magazine back in early September.) Many thanks as well to our numerous sponsors, with a special shout out to Vikse’s for taking over the sponsorship of the weekend’s hospitality! Once you get your “once over” of this years’ Red Roundup catalog sitting outside the post office…take it home, study it, make your circles on the lot numbers and get your rest. You'll need it for when you get to Red Deer! We have in store for you at the 45th mighty Red Roundup a set Red Angus cattle, frozen treasures, and special events planned to truly make it a memorable time for all who attend. If you can only get to one event this fall…make it the Red Round-up weekend. Yours most sincerely,

Bryan and Sherry Bryan & Sherry Mackenzie 403.627.8266

When we picked a heifer to put in as donation, we wanted to put in a nice heifer with a proven pedigree. 4E’s grandsire is Red Dwajo Gladiator 32L, who is an elite sire. Her granddam is an elite dam, also, who was a high-selling cow at Red Round-up in 2006. On the dam side, the granddam we bought from the Mackenzie Brothers, who were one of the founders of the Canadian Red Angus Promotion Society. This heifer will be an asset to whomever the lucky winner is, so please support the Society.

Donation Heifer Auction Procedure 1. 2.

3. 4.

The final bid in each round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Example: Round 1: Final Bid is $300 to John Doe. John’s donation is $300 Round 2: Final bid is $250 to Tom Jones. Tom’s Donation is $250 Round 3: The female is re-auctioned until no further bids are received at the low of $10 Each $10 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the final draw, e.g. John Doe has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale to the final $10 donation worth one chance each. One ticket for every $10, bearing the contributor’s name will be put into the draw barrel. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that person winning the heifer.

Selling five 10% revenue sharing interests. If the buyer of the 1st interest so chooses to sweep all 5 selling (5x the bid price), he will receive half interest and half possession of Poker Face. Call Jeff to discuss details of the shared possession part of bull. Interests include 10% of all future revenue of semen sales and possible remarketing of the bull later. Each interest will receive 50 units of semen up front, for in-herd use only.

Red Howe Dyna Queen 114X, Granddam of Fraser Poker Face 613D

Here is the most blaring, daring, bold, and brazen lot in the history of the Red Round-up sale event! Another huge, first, one-of-a-kind, never-been-done-before move, all for the betterment of the Red Round-up event; moreover, for the entire breed of Red Angus cattle. Poker Face is simply a BLACK Red Angus bull that will certainly advance future genetics in a mega-positive fashion. Now before you go getting all worked up about having the first of all-time black carrier in the mighty Red Round-up, remember this important fact…we come from the blacks! Where would our color of Red Angus be if we didn’t have these 3 bulls, just for an example. 1) Umpire 1000 (Grandsire to Rambo 502), who is the son of Ankonian Dynamo, a black bull. 2) Patriot 16, a son of Sayre Patriot, also a black bull. 3) New Trend 22D, a Grandson of VDAR New Trend 315, a very prominent black bull. Now for the bull himself, ask yourself this: just how good is this calf for (a) Mackenzie to select him, and (b) Bouchard to even allow him in the sale? This calf blew me away on pasture on July 28 in Tilston, Manitoba. This was just my first glance at him – and then he walked up and out of the mud and on to the bank of Jeff’s dugout! Profile, pedigree, eye-appeal, dead dog quiet disposition, and now for the best part: HIS FEET. His sire, Vision Unanimous, currently has 1506 registered progeny in Canada alone, and all reports can’t speak highly enough of the bull. Brent Carey and Terry White are both big fans. Just guessing, but I would have to say that Peak Dot's many sons this spring averaged closer to 50 rather than to 10. The dam 241A was an $8,800 heifer in Howe’s sale, and the granddam 114X sold last fall to Australia for $12,000. I have to tell you that I bet Poker Face 613D will step onto the hallowed pavement of the Red Deer Westerner in 2017 and be a little bit humbled if he knew how big a moment in the history of Red Round-up he is a part of. He might even feel a little bit like Rosa Parks felt being on that bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955…and look what she accomplished.

Red SSS Staunch 64Y, Sire of Queen 11A

Offering 50% interest in cow, Possession negotiable or double up for full interest and possession. If this option is exercised we retain 2 shared flushes with the new owners to mutually agreed upon sires. Contact Sheldon (306)452-7545 before the sale to discuss complete options.

Offering this stunning female at the 2017 Red Round-up was a very difficult decision. She is the style we aim to buy, the kind we wish to raise, and the type we proudly offer for sale. Queen 11A comes from the very heart and future of where our breeding program is headed. We were very fortunate to secure her as part of a package from Kuntz Farms when Clint decided to disperse his entire program in 2014. The Queen cows have all been consistent producers at Kenray Ranch, with many great up-and-comers originating from this family. Red K F Queen 11A has developed into one of the premier young cows within our herd and has many profitable years of production ahead of her. For this reason, we want to retain a piece of her for ourselves. Her sire, Red SSS Staunch 64Y, has been a breeding powerhouse that has left a jaw dropping set of females and very marketable sons. Never before have we had a walking sire in our pastures that has created so much breeder interest and quickly developed a recognizable brand for himself. Highselling progeny have already sold to Ter-Ron Farms, Howe Red Angus, and Windy Willows Farms. This fall we will proudly feature Staunch 64Y progeny at Manitoba AgEx, Canadian Western Agribiton, and the 2nd Annual Pride of the Prairies. Unfortunately, 2017 was the last breeding season for this future breed legend, and semen is in very limited supply. This is the perfect opportunity to get in on a very solid genetic line while you still can. The service sire to this outstanding female only adds to her value. Red DKF Titanium 116D was selected from the 2016 Touch of Class for his very solid foot, correct bone structure, and a muscle pattern that leaves a lasting impression. Titanium nicely blends new and fresh outcross genetics with some very solid and proven bloodlines. He is a paternal grandson of SAV Eliminator 9105, who left a positive mark on the Peak Dot and Johnson Livestock programs. His pedigree also contains breed greats, such as Boomer 803B, Pathy 62A, Big League 544R, and Smash 41N. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for an updated photo and video of this great young individual. Come partner with us on one of the most exciting Red Angus females to be sold during the fall of 2017. CONSIGNED BY KENRAY RANCH – SHELDON KYLE 45th Annual Canadian Red Round-up

Red Vikse Game On 92C, son of 162X, working for us and Handhills colony

Red Round-up has an extremely special place in our hearts, like it does for many of us. For me, the history, the pride of being a part of Red Roundup, the people you get to reconnect with - it's all very surreal. So often breeders want to showcase their programs, and Red Round-up is where it all begins. Today we are extremely proud to offer you Red Vikse JJ Amber Ruby 162x! 162X has that front pasture look that can really punch it into her progeny. The Amber Ruby Cow family has been extremely stellar for our ranch. Ryan and Allison Mclaughlin (AB) have two sons, Heart Bar Ranch has a daughter, Gary Andrews (BC) has a son, and Blake Alton (ON) has a daughter. A son sold to Handhills Colony, a daughter sold to Shana Lee Fankhandle, and Perry Nelson has a son. Many of these were high-sellers in our bull sale or have gone on for our friends and customers to be outstanding in their own herds. We flushed 162x last year with great success, and this year we bred her naturally to Six Mile High Caliber 177C. If you're looking for a female to flush, be a show female, or raise those high-profile sons and daughters - no matter what it is - 162x is that kind of female. We are truly honored to bring you Red Vikse JJ Amber Ruby 162x.

Red Sten Essence 42G, Dam of Essense 230U

AI May 23 to Red Cockburn Assassin 624D. Exposed June 7 to June 26 to Red VGW Next Step 554.

Selling 100% of this fantastic Red Angus Female at the mighty Red Round-up 2017 sale event. She could have been Lot #1 at the Brylor TWAV Sale in October, but when you are also the selector for Red Round-up you have to be as hard on your own program as you are on the other 30 consignors and take no prisoners! 230U is a daughter of the $50,000 ½-interest breed legend cow, STEN Essence 42G. She was Supreme Champion Female in Agribition and dam to Thump ($31,000 in Red Round-up 2007). Also, she produced a $20,000 heifer calf to Swan Creek in Ontario, plus a $12,000 bull to Blue Ridge Colony. 42G was also a two-time CAA Gold Show Award winner. 230U’s own production record matches her mothers’ with a $10,000 bull to Brownalta and a $20,000 heifer calf to Griffins’ in Iowa. 230U in her lone show appearance was named Reserve Junior Champion Female at the astounding World Angus Forum in 2009. The 2016 Red Round-up was the stage for the high selling embryo package out of 230U to NBT in Ontario.

Red Cockburn Assassin 624D, Service Sire to Essense 230U

Essence 230U is a proven donor cow that has very successfully done her job for us and will continue to do so for her new owner. Added feature is the AI breeding date to the very popular new bull called Assassin, so that alone is going to be worth her weight in gold…as she’s NOT a little cow! The only thing you would change about this cow is the name on her paper, as the new owner. And that can happen on October 21st. CONSIGNED BY BRYLOR RANCH 45th Annual Canadian Red Round-up

In my memory Red Round-up is the place to send animals with pedigrees and eye appeal that bring excitement and hope to the Angus breed. With this in mind, it is only fitting to offer Red Liberty Olivia Indeed 13D into this sale. We purchased her as an embryo at the Masterpiece from Brylor. Bryan, no doubt, can "read" you her pedigree and will concur with me on her qualification for this event. This female is perfect in structure, foot, body size, depth of rib, balance, and femininity. She is setting up a perfect udder with no additional digits present. She is a beautiful, deep red in color. In addition to her impeccable pedigree we have bred her in a way that we felt would only enhance all she has to offer. She is AI'ed to Youngdale Believe 46B, the incredible black bull raised by Barry and Rob Young that sold for a record price to Richmond Farms in 2015. Red Liberty Olivia Indeed 13D was then pasture exposed to another exceptional black bull, Liberty Playwrite 205C. He is an HF Prowler 43U son out of Merit Socialite 3159, (a daughter of Bar E-L Iron Will 32Y). We purchased Merit Socialite 3159 as a bred heifer from Merit at the Masterpiece Sale for $15,000 and change. You would drive the wheels off your truck to find a female with the depth of rib that Merit Socialite 3159 has. Regardless, on Red Olivia Indeed's mating you will have outcross genetics on the arrival of her first calf. The direction you take her after that is up to you. I predict a very bright future, Indeed, for this incredible female.

Envious 200D comes from a partnership female that we own with Corona Creek Cattle Co. When we first saw 8B from the Weins, there was no way we were going to let her go without at least owning part of her. She is a complete-made Barndance daughter that we purchased half of in the fall of 2014 prior to being campaigned successfully in the fall shows - never placing lower than 3rd in class. This is the first Bazinga female that we have offered up for sale in Canada. Bazinga has made a huge impact on our herd, to say the least, with the consistency in his calf crop being utterly surreal. Easy calving, performance, foot structure, muscle pattern - the list could go on and on. The early loss of him was one that is just as hard today as it was the day it happened. We can't express the impact this sire has had on our herd. The cross of Pioneer and Bazinga is going to be very exciting, with calving ease and performance-plus. CONSIGNED BY GOAD FAMILY ANGUS

This is Lakme 22D's second trip to Round-up. Her first trip was inside her dam, Lakme 224W, when we partnered with Anson Lewis to purchase this powerful dam. She comes from the great Lakme family that has produced many breed matrons, including maybe one of the most influential dams in the breed, Lakme 70M. If you’re wanting a foundation female you can breed a herd around, there is no better place to start than with a Lakme female. An added advantage is the heifer calf inside her. A daughter of Spunk is sure to be a hit. After we lost Bazinga, we wanted to retain a son to walk our place, and Spunk was the ideal bull to fit the bill, and a maternal sibling to 104E in the sale.

Reba 123D comes from the top of the replacement female pen and stems back to our great Reba cow, who is still naturally producing and flushing at 16 years of age. She is also the dam of Goad 4E in the sale. This cow family is the strongest and most dominant at our place. A maternal sister to 123D sold as one of the high-selling bred heifers in Red Round-up 2014 to Rafter SJ Angus, and maternal sisters are retained in-herd. The Rebas hold a very special spot in our herd; it was a tough decision to part with this classy Reba female. Having Bazinga on the top is going to be even more special. The way these Bazinga females are developing as breds has really excited us. The body mass, performance, foot, muscle pattern and udders that are dropping have made this calf crop the most consistent crop of any sire we have ever had. CONSIGNED BY GOAD FAMILY ANGUS

Red Shiloh Delilah 64D is a solidly structured, attractive female with loads of depth and rib shape. She excels in above-breed-average EPDs in calving ease, as well as WW and YW. Her dam is an exceptional young female and has acquired a solid WW index of 111 on her first 2 calves. She is sure footed and has a well balanced udder. Delilah 64D's sire, Red Redrich Bumper Crop 336B, had our highest averaging group of sale bulls in our 2017 "Trendsetter" Bull Sale, and her Maternal Grandsire comes from the champion "Diamond Mist" cow family from Ter Ron Farms. There's no question: the combination of outstanding genetics represented in this female and in her future offspring will ensure generations of sound, solid replacement heifers and bull calves that are sure to excel in the Angus seedstock industry. 657D turned some heads this spring when people walked through our pen. 12Y is a female we purchased out of the Keystone sale from Bridgeway as a calf. She has a darker first calver at home that is really good, and her heifer calf this year made the selectors take note. She is a really nice cow with a beautiful udder and great set of feet and legs. Her sire was one of our top bulls that sold through the Southwest sale to Bridgeway. Roughrider 214Y has sired some great females at our place. Two daughters of his raised our heifer calves here today, with the recipient dam for 705E being a Roughrider daughter as well.

We don't usually offer many bred females at the fall sales, as most of the time our breeding dates are a little later that most places, but this year we tried some earlier services. 671D is one of the main reasons to love our 44A bull, and it's why he has a large group of cows this year. They are born small and still have some grow. We only had a few of his daughters calve this year, and they all have his tidy udders with ample milk. His dam is the Doll 44X cow that Brylor is flushing now. Just ask Bryan if she is any good!! This calf really has been a favorite of mine since last fall. She had that "wow" look then, when she walked by in the pasture. I remember thinking to myself, "how did those selectors miss this one?". Thanks to Wacey, I feel that this picture shows she still has the "wow" factor. Her dam was a smaller cow with an absolutely perfect udder. The 335N cow came from the Stewart Dispersal several years ago and worked her heart out every year. She was probably the smallest cow we had but produced big-time every year! There's some great cow-producing genetics in this pedigree!

54D has been the show stopper at the farm all year. Every time we tour the heifer pen, everyone has to stop and take a look. She has been selected for multiple sales this year, but we decided to take her to the best, Red Round-Up. Dark red in color, super thick, and deep, she's a new brood matron in the making. Her maternal granddam has been one of the most productive and profitable cows on the farm. Her sire, Red U2 Sniper, has been producing solid, dependable females at the top of the heifer pen every year. Her service sire is a Sequoia son that we purchased from Brandls in 2016. His first calf crop has hit the ground running and never looked back. He has some of the most impressive sons in our bull pen for 2017. Put these exciting genetics together, and you'll see how this fancy lady has all the potential to meet all your expectations.

AI May 13 to Red Lazy MC Benelli 102B Exposed until May 15 to Red Cockburn Ribeye 543C.

Well here is one that should be staying in the herd, but you know you can't keep them all. Ms Marie is one of the last females sired by Pathfinder, as he is no longer with us. She is really growing into herself lately. She has lots of depth of body and capacity, like her sire. Ms Marie is structurally balanced and carries some extension through that front end. 59D has a bright future ahead of her and would make a great addition to one's herd. She is carrying a neat coupon inside of her as she was AI'ed to Red Lazy MC Bennelli 102B.

Lassie 47D is as sharp and angular as any. Solid coloured and smooth made, she is moderate in size with a lower birth weight and breedleading EPDs. Her Glory Roadsired dam is quickly becoming a pasture favourite, with daughters retained in the herd and a feature bull in our 2017 Cutting Edge Bull Sale. In fact, her dam, 46W, has gained Elite Cow status and is as consistent in her kind and production as any. Her sire, Chill 3B, was our choice to lead off our 2015 bull sale and was a popular choice, due to his substance, shape, and outstanding muscle pattern. Additionally, his pedigree has some of our most productive cow families, and we feel Lassie 47D has a great future!

Observed bred on April 22 to Red Wilbar Speed 8D. Preg tests safe to this date.

The combination of outcross sire Reality 460, along with tried-andtrue, highly-valued Rosette 13Y cow family, resulted in this highly treasured 59D female. She was a hard one to part with. Moderate in their make-up, this family has been as productive as any, with all four daughters retained and an average wean index of 108. They are all sharp, feminine, and very “milky” kind of cows, and this entry has all the making of another good one. In this first calf crop, Reality 460 sired our highselling bull to Lone Stone Farms, Westlock, AB. This calving ease, growth, and performance really came through. The service sire was our choice from the Wilbar program, with a low birthweight combined with excellent growth and performance.

The celebrated Dynamint cow family comes to Red Round-up, the foundation marketing venue of our red breed’s success. It's mind boggling how many of our nation’s greatest Red Angus cattle trace back to the pages of a past Red Round-up catalogue. I anticipate extending that rich heritage with Dynamint 15D. Sired by Red U2 Double Vision 364B, a valuable out-crossed sire who sires excellent thickness and tremendous calving ease. Soft made, wide bodied, and deep ribbed. Dynamint 15D comes from an excellent uddered young cow who’s setting up an impressive production record. Bred to the legendary Red Knight 640F and exposed to Emulous 32D, a super exciting young sire. Both present ROI potential. Buy with confidence. CONSIGNED BY EKW ANGUS

Red Round-up selection time always makes us nervous! But as agreed to, we always let Bryan have his pick of our females. We are pleased to offer Red Rack Lady 92D and believe she represents our program well. Lady 92D is shaping up to be an extremely thickmade female that doesn't give up femininity. As is the Red Round-up way, when Brian comes to select, the door was wide open to him. And after touring the herd, it was no surprise that he was looking for the very top “Indy" daughter. The Dividend 106A-sired C daughters are knocking it out of the park with their first calves. Their calves are as big as in any in the herd, while maintaining excellent body condition on themselves. They have beautiful, square udders and are milking great. We expect no less from Tamilla 6D, as she descends down from one of the most prominent and productive cow families at Fineline. Time to start a Tamilla line in your herd. Here is the opportunity to start with one of the great ones.

Red J Lazy A MS Dividend 7D is our first bred heifer consignment to the mighty Red Round-up, and we could not be more excited. 7D is a moderate made, deep bodied heifer that has that brood cow look and should raise a calf that will be in demand for years to come. She is out of a moderate made, square uddered first calver that has raised a top calf again this year at home. The sire is a black bull we purchased from Diamond T a few years back, which had a dam that sold at Red Round-up 2015 and rang a few bells. Proceeds of the embryos donated by Brylor Ranch will be given entirely to the 2017 Red Round-up Junior Heifer Calf Extravaganza! This will be done in the memory of Vaughan Greenslade of Kinared Stock Farm from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. Vaughn loved being President of CRAPS for many years, and his belief that Red Round-up was the premier event in the world was very evident through his many donations over the years. Your presence at Red Round-up, Vaughn, will be missed. 822W is one of Mulberry’s finest pieces of Red Angus art. She will headline the upcoming Mulberry Mayhem in Canada in December. She produced a $23,000 high-selling bull to Larry Nielson and an $8,750 herd bull to Hugh Atkin. As a side note, an Arson x Mulberry heifer calf topped the 2016 Mayhem in Kansas at $17,500. Wouldn’t it be cool if a heifer calf produced from these embryos came back to the 2019 Red Round-up Heifer Calf Extravaganza and had a legit shot at winning it?

This is the first daughter of JJL 49B that we have put up for offer! 49B was Reserve Champion Bull in Brandon in 2014! These females are solid, powerful females, with style and length. Blackbird 6E is an excellent female, well put together, eye appealing, and would make a competitive 4-H project. Rollin Deep genetics are very soughtafter, and we couldn't be more please with Red TR Rollin Along 79B! His progeny were well accepted at our spring bull sale, and the females we have are easy to pick out of the group. 64C combines the strength of the Blackbirds with Red Howe Twenty X 28Y. The daughters of 28Y are proven, dark in color, and moderate, with well shaped udders. The Blackbirds are foundation females, and 64C has done a standout job on her first calf!

This calf has had an exact presence about her from a very early age. You know the type that quickly grab your attention then hold your imagination? Red Bella Rosa 12E is a calf that could easily wear a show halter and put you into the winner circle. She is long in her spine, fluid in her movement, and completely balanced. Her sire, Red Triple L Endorse 20C, was first spotted at CWA in the fall of 2015, and we secured a semen package the following spring. His first calf crop continues to impress us, and we are beyond excited to see how he stacks up this fall during the major shows. Early reports indicate that Endorse 20C is an individual that will turn some heads!! Join the excitement by securing one of his very first progeny to sell. CONSIGNED BY KENRAY RANCH

We are extremely proud to bring you a heifer that comes from our outstanding cow family. Becky 6E is out of a first calver. Red Vikse Becky 127C has had a lustrous show career, as she was Heifer Calf Champion at FarmFair and with her dam was Champion 2-Year-Old Pair at FarmFair. Becky 127C was also Champion Heifer Calf at the Canadian Bull Congress. We sold a direct daughter out of 172A’s dam, 84R, at Red Round-up to Brooke Dechaine, where she went on to her own successful show career. 105B was two-time club champion at Boscombe 4-H club and twotime District Champion and also Supreme Champion Female at the district show. The Becky cow family has been outstanding in the show ring, as well as at our bull sale, having many of our high-sellers. Grab a hold of this outstanding Kodiak daughter, and hang on for some truly great and exciting things.

Red Vikse 28R Lodi 134E is a super fancy heifer with loads of cherry red hair. Juniors: I really believe 134E is something we together could have lots of fun with and be very competitive. This is 231A’s third natural calf, and her past two progeny have averaged over $7,000. Her dam 28R has had 10 natural calves, with many females in our herd. And sons have topped the bull sale with her high-selling son to Collin and Mary Balon for $11 ,250. If you’re looking for that fancy-type show heifer, come discuss some plans and opportunities with us.

Sweet Dynuba is as sweet as her name. She has that soft made quality, with a sweet front end. 22E is dark red, just the way you like them, and has a good hair coat, too. Her sire has not disappointed, by producing the right kind that go and just plain work and look the part. Sweet Dynuba's dam is very hard working and is still staying sound on her feet, legs, and udder structure. 22E would be good for a junior prospect or just to go out and be a productive female.

This heifer is, no doubt, out of a powerhouse dam. We have selected and shown three of her siblings, and kept three females in the herd, as well. 19E is the most unique of them all, with her pedigree. She is the first female on offer out of Ter-Ron Capital 50C, who we purchased in 2016 from Adams. Capital’s calves are fancy, full of character, and loaded with power. With her big bellied, dark haired body, she has plenty of potential to be a show heifer, and she will undoubtedly turn into a beautiful cow.

Red Cinder Heather 1001E (Tinky) is a well balanced ET calf out of an extremely attractive and youthful daughter of Holden Hi Ho 574. Tinky has a very foundation pedigree from our program, tracing back to both Red Cinder Smartin’ Up 132P (a past Red Round-up Bull Futurity Champion) and one of our cornerstone producers, Red Howe Ms Heather DDH 101G. Tinky is a dark red, smooth made female that is attractive from every angle, with versatility to be very useful in many programs. Her shape and deep rib leave nothing to the imagination, as she has it all plus more. There is very little guess work in this female. She carries the same design features as her full sister, Red Cinder Heather 201Z, as well as her sire, Red Cinder In Focus 112W, producing several tremendous paternal females with solid udders and great foot structure. Her full sib embryos sold in last year’s sale to Jay Hardy of Madisonville, TX. CONSIGNED BY CINDER ANGUS

Red Cinder Heather 301E, aka Patty, is another example of the very reason the Heather cow family is so prominent in our program, with their longevity and superb production. She is an easy one to spot in the heifer pen, with a super expressive look - soft made, with an amazing disposition. Patty is a female that is hard to pick a hole in,. She exudes femininity and correctness all the way from front to back. She carries herself softly when she travels, has plenty of flex in her joints, and has a tremendous leg set. Her dam is an attractive and impressively uddered daughter of Red KBJ Sam’s Prospector 133Z and the full sister to the Heather cow that Kent Stewart of Texas snapped up the opportunity to purchase a flush on in last year’s sale. Patty’s sire is a soggy, performance-based bull owned by David and Kathlyn Peltzer, and is the son of Red Lonestone Revolver 138Z (the 2015 Canadian Show Bull of the Year). This is a female that will easily become a front pasture producer and will also excel in the show ring for open or junior showmen.

We at Double C love the females we produce, and like each of our fellow breeders we often strive for very different kinds of functional females, and when we have what we like we just keep producing them. This heifer calf is from our style of cows all the way. We like big, broody females with lots of capacity and excellent udders and feet. This girl comes in with all the mentioned criteria. She is the size and style we love, that produces us amazing offspring that our buyers come back for year after year. This dark cherry heifer calf is a little larger framed, but packages up very attractive and functional. She will be a great addition in any purebred herd. She was born at 88lbs and her mom is an amazing TANK of a cow. We hope you like the heifers Brian has chose from our herd for you to purchase.

It's been a few years since we have consigned to Red Round-up, but we have quite a strong set of momma cows at home, so it is time to share a few with others. Maggie 360E is a bit of a switch for us. She is from a grandma cow that we sold to Phil Bernie of WRAZ Red Angus in the winter of 2012. Phil had his first sale last December with a fellow breeder, and we bought a bred heifer at this sale with Maggie 360E inside. This heifer has a very strong pedigree, with the likes of Kodiak in the history, along with Pasquale, and on the cow's side: Hitch and Typhoon. This is a sharing of a mix of genetics that all come together in a solid, functional female that is very easy fleshing and will fit the size and pattern the industry has been using the last few years. We hope you like her as much as we do. This heifer was delivered unassisted with a 70lb birthweight, and she is a solid chunk of a female now. 45th Annual Canadian Red Round-up

Pride 94E is a tough one to give up, but we wanted to put our best in the sale. Proven pedigree her grandsire, Gladiator 32L, and one great granddam are elite and one is a premier dam. 3B we lost this winter, so this is the last set of calves to sell out of him. Pride is a sweet heifer with a pretty front end and volume, with a great hair coat. Showy and a great disposition. She was shown locally and was in the top-end of every show. We sold a paternal sister to a keen junior in last year's sale to Brookelyn Holt. Red Dwajo Pride 94E would make a great junior prospect with a proven pedigree.

Marta 12E is a long bodied, smooth front ended heifer. Her dam has produced two bulls that have sold in our On-Target Sale and a female to Matlock Farms Ltd. 12E’s granddam, 52M, is an Elite dam that has three daughters that were sold to purebred herds. The sire, Crank, we bought from good people at Wildman Livestock for his good feet, legs, and dark red colour. But the best thing was the dam and granddam, for the picture-perfect cows with great udders. Cranks EPDs: he is in top 10% WW and 15% YW. Where does one start to begin describing this Crush daughter? She is sired by one of the most dominant show bulls in North America ever. She is the first Crush daughter that we are selling in Canada. Crush semen has been limited in sales, and his progeny are offered by few breeders. Crush was the Reserve Champion at the 2017 National Western Stock Show. The list could go on about this great sire. Thelma 104E is backed by a cow family that is fairly new to us, but is quickly becoming one of our best. Maternal sisters have sold to Texas and Brent Brewin, and a maternal brother is a current walking sire on-farm. If you’re looking for a show heifer prospect with donor cow potential, take note of 104E.

Reba 4E is an ET daughter from our original Reba cow that is 16 years of age. This matron of our herd is still flushing and is naturally bred back for a calf in 2018! A maternal sister was Reserve Champion Sr. Heifer at FarmFair 2013, after being purchased by Corona Creek Cattle Co. 4E is a maternal sister to the dam of Goad 123D. This cow family is no stranger to Red Round-up, with progeny selling into multiple purebred herds. This is the only progeny we have on the ground this year from this exciting mating, with other embryos being frozen for a later date. This is the only reason we are able to let this female go. We are very high on every one of these Reba females.

755E has been a standout all year. 44A has left a great set of calves again this year.. not a big group, but a great group. There will be a bigger group next year, as he has moved up from being "just" a heifer bull. 44A was the sire of the 696D heifer we had here last year that drew a lot of attention and ended up going to EKW Red Angus at Hague. 755E also comes from a first time mother in 570C. She comes from the Frado cow family at MarMac, that they have had so much success with. This heifer is going to make some friends in Red Deer, for sure.

When Bryan came along to select for Red Round-up we let him have his pick of everything. This is a heifer that we really shouldn't be offering. Trina 6N was a feature in the M&J Dispersal several years ago. She raised our Sequoia 748T bull that left us so many great daughters, and a Mulberry daughter that was a high-seller at the Keystone to Riley's Red Angus and then was a high-seller for him in his dispersal. We then flushed her to Roughrider to get several daughters, with one going to Brylor while 3 were retained. We have an EXT daughter of hers at home, as well. We then split some flushes with Hamco to get some more. Sold some embryo packages at Round-up a couple years ago, and now Wraz has a full sibling to this calf. This cow family has done it all, and I haven't even discussed the sire's side of the pedigree. Kodiak 3A is doing his part to leave some great daughters across the country. Trust me: she is better than her picture.

Bayberry 21E is an extremely thick, very correct, feminine heifer that you would love to have a pen full of. She is out of a Get-aLong cow that has been doing an exceptional job at our place. She had a daughter that MacKenzie selected last year for Red Roundup that we couldn't let go. So we knew that when he spotted this calf out in pasture this year, we had no chance of keeping her. Longevity and fertility are built-in right here. 699s is 11 years old and still producing great calves, like 21E. Her sire, U2 Sniper, has been producing great progeny with outstanding phenotype, length, and dimension. We are excited to see the impact this great heifer will make for her new owners. See you sale day.

Here is a rare, one-of-a-kind heifer, with a genetic background not yet seen in Canada. This beauty of a heifer goes back to one of the most legendary cow families in the industry, and we know she is capable to stand beside those Essence females that make up her pedigree. This heifer’s dam, Red Netherton Essence M654, I saw in Scotland this past June, at the one of the Angus breed's original founders: Netherton Aberdeen Angus (William McLaren family). Netherton Essence is the highest revenue earning Red Angus female in the UK, with over 120,000 pounds($250,000) worth of sales. Her dam is a granddaughter of Red Sten Essence 42G and a direct daughter of TLA Northern Samurai, who are both well known throughout the Red Angus industry - Brylor Ranches/Miller Wilsons and KBJ Angus raising champions for the pasture, as well as in the show ring. But the wild card in this pedigree is the Australian sire, Red Paringa Iron Ore E27, a bull with tons of muscle shape, depth of body, and power. This heifer is one of only two calves in Canada with this genetic combination, making KC Essence 85E truly one to own. This heifer calf is not just impressive on paper, she carriers the most eye appealing feminine front end that you will admire. She is deep sided and wide topped, with a lot of rib shape. We can go on and on, but this heifer does speak for herself. She will be one to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and will take her buyer to an entirely different genetic league.

Letting this heifer leave the farm definitely challenged the Red Round-up “the door is open" theory. As usual, we figured this is the right way to do things for this great event. The sire, Beiber Spartacus A193, is an AI bull that attracted our attention. When this service to Tamilla 26B resulted in a heifer calf, we were very thrilled. The dam NVG 26P will blow you away with mass and volume, and is valued here as one of the very best cows walking the Fineline pastures. Our expectation for her gorgeous daughter is no less than that of her mother. Assess her with the confidence and expectation of a great one in the making. If you look back at our bred consignment, you will see what our thoughts are on the Tamillas. Two of them were chosen for Red Round-up without the selector knowing their pedigrees before-hand. We are super excited to bring this special gem to Red Round-up 2017. We had the privilege to purchase some exciting embryos from the great folks at Wildman Livestock and could not be happier with the outcome. We have three full sisters out of Boomer 803B, a sire that I have heard a lot about but have never laid eyes on. He is known for his depth of body and udder quality. He has 33 daughters designated Elite with the Canadian Angus Association, stamping his progeny with the tools to make a lasting impression. Mated with 27F, who raised three National Calf Champions, this dark red powerful heifer would be a great addition to keep at the ranch, but it didn't take Bryan long to find her.

Mistress 15E has a tremendous amount of eye appeal. She has been a standout from day one. Her dam, Mistress 91W, has proven her value with sons in two of the top commercial herds in the area, as well as a daughter in the strong purebred herd of Murray & Karen Crawford, near Rocanville. Her sire, JJL Compass 41B, is a bull we purchased at Agribition from JJL Livestock in partnership with Neilson Land & Cattle. This young sire has a great set of progeny on the ground here. We believe he has a very bright future making females here. His dam, Princess 4W, is a proven, no-miss, black, Red Carrier Final Answer female. She has done a tremendous job of raising good ones for JJL Livestock near Melville – the kind of dam you want as the dam of your herd bulls. I like her enough to also own and use another very interesting son, JJL 78Z. You will have the very first ever opportunity to purchase semen from 78Z in the 2017 Young Guns event. These maternal brothers were used heavily here this summer. I am a stickler on feet, and both have as good of foot as I have been able to find! This young female will be a very good return on investment to her new owner. She is the right kind, and I would love to keep her, but I also want to sell good ones. Dig in: you won’t be disappointed! Her sire is a blast from the past, with his genetics recently showing up again in the US show ring and looking very good doing it. The well proven line of Northline Rob Roy 122K, coupled with Blair’s Ardath 110A by Barndance 35X, really clicked on this sharp-dressed young lady. We believe in opening up our herd to bring the very top end to the premiere event of the year, so please take advantage of these top females. There should be a spot for this one in most any herd across the land. Juniors: this is one I believe you could hang a halter on to have some fun, but at the end of the day, she can be a cornerstone breeding piece to your young herd. I really like this one!

I could go on forever on this ET heifer! Her dam, Cherok 19U, needs no introduction – her full brother, Ghost Rider 108Y, is, to date, my most cherished herd sire, doing so many things right before his untimely death. Cherok 19U was Champion Senior Yearling Heifer at the World Angus Forum 2009 and looked fantastic, but in my mind her greatest achievement was her first calf the $58,000 extraordinary heifer bull supreme, Red Brylor Wraz Mak’n Waves 39X. He was a low birthweight standout, with a very strong foot, when he sold as a yearling and still remains breeding soundly on that strong foot today for Rick Rohrick in North Dakota. Her black redcarrier sire, Brylor Kodiak 204Y, introduced the greatness of Kodiak 5R into the red genepool. Cherok 19U had a great udder, and the Kodiak line is known for their strong udder structure, as well. This is a broody little lady that would look really good in any herd! Just Git-er-Done.

It’s not every day that you get a chance to own a daughter of the Champion of the World! Not only did Aftershock consistently knock it out of the park in his show career, but he’s doing it in the breeding pasture, too. This powerful, broody heifer calf is backed by maternal strength on both sides of her pedigree. Three maternal sisters are in the BCC cowherd, and one sold to Hughes Farm at Buck Creek, AB. When you tour the Brandl cowherd, the Emperor daughters stand out with their extra depth and structural soundness. It is interesting to note that this heifer has three ET donor cows up close in her pedigree, two of them being CAA ELITE females, including Red Brylor Mabel 77T with an index of 106. This heifer is a gem!

These two outstanding heifer calves are, to say the least, extremely powerful in their makeup, while still maintaining a feminine appeal that’s sure to turn a few heads on this fall’s show circuit.

We are once again honored to be included in the select group of Red Angus breeders chosen to be part of the 2017 Canadian Red Roundup Sale, and once again the sales management has selected some of our very best genetics.

Cargo was 1 of 2 lead off bulls from the Circle G Angus Bull Sale last year, and we could not be more pleased with his 2017 offspring.

Red Shiloh Elegance 10E is loaded with all the attributes of a future champion. She is structurally correct and extremely feminine with lots of depth and muscle expression. Her dam is a moderately framed first-calf heifer with a beautiful udder. Red Shiloh Endurance 36E has all the same qualities, showing the consistency of these two "Cargo" siblings. Her dam is also a firstcalf heifer, out of one of our best cow families. Her granddam, Red Tomahawk Lady 22P, has raised 6 female offspring, all of which are still producing in our herd today, and also, at 13 years of age, raised our 2016 CAA Canadian Champion Bull Calf, Red Shiloh Defender 6D. Which ever one of these two dynamic heifer calves the successful bidder chooses, we are confident they will be more than pleased with their purchase.

A One - of-a-Kind Opportunity

68

Pick of the 2016 Bred Heifers It's truly an honor to offer the pick of our bred heifers in the 45th Annual Red Round-up Sale! With 90 heifers exposed, representing a variety of sire groups, there should be a heifer to suit anyone's herd. We exposed two groups slightly earlier this year, with all heifers exposed to start calving March 15. We ran a variety of heifers from all our sire groups

to Red SSS Hard Eight 800D and Red RSL Moonshine 207D. Both bulls bred well, held condition, and are truly the type of Angus cattle we are striving to raise. The sire groups represented are Authentic, Mulberry, Crimson Jewels, Endorse, Unanimous, New Era, and Cactus Sky. Selection to be made before December 31, 2017.

Both male and female progeny of this calf’s sire Red DSM Honky Tonk are all big butted, clean shouldered, growthy calves. And this guy does not disappoint. We have never had a bull cover all his cows in the first cycle each year and with a never miss Grand dam and dam, out milking, easy keeping female family how can this bull be any different? With a moderate birth weight of 88 lbs. and an actual wean weight on July 28 of 782 lbs. with NO added creep THIS guy keeps getting better and better. Very excited to be showcasing him at Red Round-up 2017!!

There have been many pasture visitors that put this one at the top of their list. The most impressive thing about Red WRAZ Jack 708E for me is his very impressive dam, Red JJL Mati 16X. She is a powerful tank of a female with outstanding production that has recently earned her a spot on the CAA Premier Dam list. His growth has been impressive to date with a Sept 5 wean weight of 848 lbs. His sire, Red Wheel Jack 80A, has done a really nice job for JJL Livestock, with many sons in herds across their customer base. The feedback on those sons has been very positive. If you are in the hunt for your next herd sire, I believe it will be worth your while to come to Red Deer and check him out!

Stealth has been a standout right from the time that he was born. His shear performance and muscle mass have caught the eyes of many visitors. This was a very planned mating of using Bazinga on Lakima 82B. She was the second-high-selling bred heifer from the Glesbar Dispersal. We admired her for her body mass and performance, along with being backed by a great cow family. His pedigree adds an interesting twist, bringing in an outcross sire in Bazinga, and an old, proven sire going back to Boomer. We expect calving ease with big-time performance from Stealth, aka "Pudge".

Between the two bull calves we have entered, it has been hard to pick a favourite all year. 18E has been loaded with power since the moment he hit the ground. He has an unreal hind quarter, with plenty of bone and stability in his legs. He is broad chested, and has a nice barrelled middle to him. His dam is one of our most attractive cows, she is deep bellied and low to the ground, milks hard, and has never given us a moments hassle. A highly functional female. 18E is a son of Ter-Ron Parker 34A, and we are looking forward to seeing this guy mature out, and leave an impact on our herd here at home.

We purchased a semen package on Red SSS Break out 114Y from Ward Cockburn in their 2016 bull sale, and we're sure glad we did! Break Out 5E has stood out since birth. This calf just keeps maturing at a quick pace and carries an extra rib's worth of length in his side, through to a thick hind quarter. 5E stands proud on a great set of feet and has lots of heel. We are looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion on this calf, as we feel he has a bright future ahead of him.

A calf that is as attractive as any we have brought out, 29E is one of two Parker sons we are excited to take to town. He is low to the ground, correct, heavily muscled, loose hided, and big hipped. He has been masculine and bully since the word go and he stands out on pasture. Next to his dam, a moderate sized 5 year old NCJ Mystified daughter, the two of them have caught the eye of all who have seen them this summer. He has a lot of milk and he is a bull that we feel can easily go out and throw calves just as powerful as he is.

I don't think there has been a bull that we have talked about as much around the farm as High Roller. Every time people walked through the calves all year, someone always mentioned, "did you see the 142 calf? He's really good!". Miss Tokun 9X was purchased through Red Roundup as a heifer calf from Cinder Angus for her unique pedigree and body mass. A very interesting twist of a pedigree, with High Roller having a black influence on both the top and bottom side. Combine this with his round muscle pattern, length of body, foot structure, capacity, and depth of quarter, we are very high on High Roller.

World Series 12E has been one of the favourite calves since the day he was born. His unique bloodlines on the bottom of the pedigree will offer an outcross for many, and he is bred to be a performanceoriented and maternally strong herd bull. His dam is an extremely easy keeping, functional female - moderate in frame, with femininity and is sound in every way. The cow family is backed by the elite/premier Bar EL cow, Dora 237W. The Grand Slam sire maintains performance with below-average birthweight - he sires popular cattle. This calf has excellent disposition, dark cherry red, and extra length. This moderate birthweight bull posted our highest weaning weight.

Excalibur has been a standout and a herd favorite since the day he was born. He has that presence and look to him that gave me the impression he is going to be a good calf. 61E has that natural muscle shape all through his body and carries down low. Excalibur has a masculine front end with some neck extension. Loretta Lynn has not disappointed since we acquired her from CD Land & Cattle, as she has produced a heifer calf that we own with Rainbow Red Angus and a bull calf last year that went to good customers at Forestburg. He has always been a character when greeting you in the pasture and posing for you when you don't have a camera ready, of course!! I feel he has a good future ahead of him and will turn into something spectacular.

Photo by Golden Thread Livestock Images

40E is a smooth made, deep sided, balanced, attractive individual that people really notice. Lots of performance and maternalness in this pedigree, as his dam, 17Y, is already CAA Elite designated, and the Stewart bred granddam, 1T, is one of my favourite cows. Both of these cows are broody in their nature with excellent feet and udder expression. They always raise the popular ones. The Bullseye 1B sire did a very consistent job for us with both top-end heifer and bull progeny. We have a lot of confidence in this calf and look forward to his future.

Here is a really neat embryo package from a shining producer in the Brylor program. She’s a member of the famous old Doll family at Red Round-up. Her dam, 304H, was a feature cow in the 2010 Red Round-up to Rick Cones at Ringstead Ranch. 44X’s first son, named High Capacity 44A, was a feature in Brylor’s 2014 bull sale at $10,000 to Jeff Fraser. 44A sired a heifer calf at the 2016 Red Round-up at $5,500 to Elmer Weibe. But check out his daughter this year in lot 14 (671D). Doll 44X also produced another son to Zoratti Ranches at $9,000. Now for her real production highlight: be sure to watch the video on Lot 46 in TWAV. She’s pretty easy to spot in that sale, as she is the only “dark”-colored one! She could be better than her mother. 44X’s sire, Squall, was a former FarmFair and Agribition Grand Champion Bull in 2008. He has left a set of females around the world that are truly amazing. First set of embryos to sell anywhere, sired by the new star on the horizon, Assassin. CONSIGNED BY BRYLOR RANCH

Embryos are exportable to the US and stored at DRI – Crossfield, AB. Guarantee 1 pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryologist.

On offer 1 package of 3 conventional embryos sired by Brylor’s $77500 Red Cockburn Assassin 624D and the powerhouse female donor Red Y3 Bar Copper Latte 17X that we all had the opportunity to evaluate at Red Round Up 2016. Everyone can appreciate the strength of a cow family that gets it done no matter what you breed them to but only a select few of them ever become a donor because of their production value at home. There is good reason Lynn has retained the lion’s share of this cow family – it is because they are so productive and worthy. This mating adds in the maternal greatness of Cockburn’s well proven Cora cow family - the outcome of this mating will be amazing! You will not find this mating on offer anywhere else. We had the opportunity to purchase the flush on 17X here last year so we thought it was only appropriate to share this embryo opportunity with you in Canada’s most prestigious Red Angus event of the year! We purchased a flush on 85A for her tons of volume, eye appeal, and clean front end. She has worked, providing bulls for the top end of their bull sale and the 2015 Reserve Champion Female at FarmFair International. We used Deep End for his depth of body, masculinity, and deep cherry red colour. He also has great numbers to add to his progeny, as he is in the top 4% WW, 3% YW, 3% Milk. Here’s a throwback to the past in this old-time embryo package. The cane these eggs are stored in might be a little dusty, but the genetics they carry are still very vital. 19J was a $6,000 cow in the SDL/4 Season dispersal in 2006. She was a big, strong individual, that was also an incredible profiler. Note her dam, 31A, is also the dam to the breed legend, New Trend 22D. Her sire, Bodacious, was the three-time Denver Champion bull that sold at this very sale for $59,000. That is where she got her deep, dark, rich red color from. The sires of the embryos are two of the corner post sires from the Brylor program. Roll the dice on this frozen treat of 7 embryos, as sometimes these blasts from the past can really surprise you with how viable they still are.

40 doses of each Young Guns sire will be sold by the consignor and an additional 40 sold with the proceeds going towards the Canadian Red Angus Promotion Society. Thank you to Alta Genetics for your sponsorship and assistance in the collection of our Young Guns sires.

This is a very proud, up-headed, majestic outcross bull from the McLarens in Manitoba. He was a feature bull a couple years back from Fraser Farms and sold for $9,750. Rumour has it that Brylor was on the phone and ran us up on him! When Bryan was selecting for Red Round-up this summer, he really loved the look for this big bull. 459B is the same breeding as the $20,000 “Answer” son to Howes in Saskatchewan. His dam, 22X, was apparently on the list to be a feature in the 2017 Red Round-up as a donor cow. Maybe next year…

I am not sure “young” is the proper description for this big boy, but he is definitely extremely interesting. I would like to think of him as my “top gun” here at WRAZ. It is not very often you have the opportunity to purchase a mature sire of this quality, so we are extremely thankful to own him. He will catch your eye from afar and draw you toward him. He is the right kind. He gained weight here, while out breeding 54 head this summer! He has a great deal of eye appeal, but he will really catch your attention when you see him on the move. Not many bulls with the shape and mass he carries move so fluidly and athletically. He is very dark red with a big dark foot and a heel that you will appreciate, not to mention the capacity and muscle he carries. Top this all off with his beautiful black dam by Final Answer. She is a tank of a cow that has done an admirable job for Jarret & Jenna. Red JJL Final Deal 78Z will be at Alta Genetics for your appraisal during Round-up, so stop in and you can be the judge. This will be the only opportunity to purchase semen on this bull in the near future, so get some while you can!

Since the videos came online in early September at www.brylor.com concerning the TWAV sale cattle, there has been an abundance of traffic on the site and surrounding his video! Mainly, because of his impressive profile and even more impressive daughters (all nine of them). You really should see his bull calves now on feed at Stauffer Ranches, as well. He is extremely dark, blood-red in colour, near perfect footed, heavily muscled, and a nice EPD proof to go along with it. He is the only recorded progeny in Canada by the magnificent breeding US bull, Navigator 010. I have watched this prolific sire for several years now and have been impressed about as much as his owners, the Sonnstegaards, are. Next Step sports a brand new fresh pedigree, wrapped up in a bull that I am very pumped up on. You only come across a bull of this caliber every so often, and after his 1st set of calves were weaned this fall, that just confirmed it!! If you are unsure about the navigation of your program this is THE NEXT STEP for you to take.

We have both been through many herds in the past couple of years, and it has become very clear the quality of udder that these Kodiak females have is second to very few! Beautiful attachment, shape, teat size, capacity, and overall quality pretty much sums it up. The milk quality has to be very high, as well, to be capable of the production they are quickly becoming known for. The females in production today are well beyond all expectations. These females are good haired, strong ribbed, feed efficient cattle that remain moderate in frame, while standing on a very good foot. They have been proven to produce well under a variety of different herds and areas. Kodiak 3A sons are in demand as well and have topped many sales with his consistent, well proven calving ease. He was pulled from the pasture late in the summer of 2016 with an injury, and much to our dismay, he did not recover. We have a limited supply of semen, and this is the first of four different sales this breeding season in Canada that you will be able to acquire his genetics. We guarantee to sell no more than 80 straws before the fall of 2018. CONSIGNED BY WRAZ & BRYLOR

45 Day spring Walking Rights

A truly different and unique marketing concept once again from Brylor on a truly different and unique kind of bull. SELLING a 45-day breeding season (2 consecutive cycles of your choice) on this young heart-throb, named ASSASSIN. For one bid price you get access to use Assassin naturally on your cows at your ranch for any consecutive 45 days between April 1 and June 25, 2018. So…what’s that worth to an operation that is not set up for an AI breeding program? Or even desires to AI cows? Assassin was the object of a lot of attention this spring. He sold to Brylor Ranch for $77,500 as the high-seller at Cockburn’s bull sale. If you say it fast, it’s a little easier to accept as a Scotsman! His sire, Specialist, is also very popular, but is currently not on the open market. His dam had a $15,000 heifer at 2016 Agribition, and she herself just recently sold ½-interest for $20,000. This daring and thrilling lot at Red Round-up may never be duplicated again! If you wanted to but couldn’t quite pull the trigger at this level, here’s the moment to experience a bull like Assassin to put a personal hit on your cows!

In the fall sale season of 2017 there are only 3 packages of frozen genetic plasma on Assassin. This remarkable young stallion of a bull has been limited to an impressive group of breeders thus far who are very financially committed to him now. In the big picture of things, only 12 other breeders in this entire country, besides Cockburn/Brylor, will have calves out of him in 2018! No more packages will sell in our country until the fall of 2018, at the earliest - if ever! There is a lot of room on this bull’s coattails. All you have to do is step on for the ride.

All reports out there this summer on this good, young, high impact import bull have been uber-positive!! His first calves have blown away all expectation from both owner and semen distributor alike. The Nelsons from Minnesota exhibited the US National Reserve Heifer Calf Champion at Iowa State Fair in August. September saw them exhibit the Heifer Calf Champion at the Minnesota State Fair. These calves were daughters of Best Man. Brylors’ pen of bull calves features six calvingease sons of this AI sire. TWAV has two extra-classy daughters consigned to that sale, and they are both feature lots. JASS, in Manitoba, has a standout daughter that really was a highlight this summer, as well. There will be no cheesy or embarrassing speeches from any of this bull’s calves.

Offering 300 units of semen(10 packages of 30 units each) on 9 Mile Franchise 6305, RAAA Reg#3555188. The buyer of the first package has the right to take it all, and also the right to own exclusive Canadian semen rights on the bull for double the total price. This will be the only semen marketed in Canada for the 2018 breeding season.

9 Mile Franchise 6305 is the exciting $105,000 high-selling Red Angus bull in the U.S. this spring, going to Pieper Red Angus in Hay Springs, NE. And, to date, he has sold north of $120,000-worth of semen packages. Just a March yearling, he was the #1 semen collecting bull out of over 250 bulls at Western Sire Services in Nebraska. He offers a very unique outcross pedigree, with his sire, Spur Franchise of Garton 2114, a black/red gene-carrier bull from the AAA genepool, that is known for his outstanding feed efficiency and carcass genetics. Currently in the RAAA database, Spur ranks in the top 2% for Marbling and top 1% for REA. His dam, C-Bar Abigrace Y11, is a model Red Angus cow with a picture perfect udder and nearly flawless phenotype. Unfortunately this powerful donor cow was lost last fall, so there will be no more. She is sired by calving ease specialist, TR Colt 45 UT806, and maternally stems from a Mission Statement daughter out of the famed Brown Ms Abigrace L7730 cow that has produced over $2 million U.S. in progeny sales.

Purebred Breeder of the Year SHILOH CATTLE COMPANY

Shiloh Cattle Company is a 4th Generation Ranch located in the Hand Hills just South-West of Hanna, Alberta. The ranch was established in 1909 by Blake Morton’s Great Grandparents, Kingsley & Alice Morton. In 1946, Blake’s Grandparents, Lawrence & Francis Morton Purchased additional land in the heart of the Hand Hills. In 1959, Blake’s parents, Merle and Irene Morton, purchased the original home 1/4, along with the rest of the ranch from Kingsley Morton, and over the years they combined the two ranches, and became Shiloh Ranch. Although Blake has always been actively involved in the ranch his whole life, it was not until 1995 that he moved back home to the ranch after spending a few years off ranch as an industrial millwright. In 1996, Darcy Olesky moved to the ranch. It was then that Blake & Darcy began forming their vision of what the ranch is today, and shortly after, registered the ranch under the name Shiloh Cattle Company. After several years of building up their commercial herd, Blake and Darcy purchased their first 11 Purebred Red Angus cows in 2004 from Hugh and Marylee Wilkie of Tomahawk Red Angus. In 2007, Darcy & Blake purchased another 90 head of Red Angus Cows along with the bull calves from Tomahawk Red Angus, beginning their current adventure in raising Angus cattle. Blake & Darcy are currently running approximately 285 cow / calf pairs that are split ,2/3rd’s Purebred Red Angus and 1/3rd Commercial Cross Bred cows on a land base of 3500 acres. Although they are proud of all of their accomplishments over the last several years raising Red Angus cattle, Darcy and Blake are most proud of receiving this award, as well as the 2016 Alberta Angus Association’s Purebred Breeder of the Year, and

their 5 consecutive Canadian Angus Association National Red Angus Calf Championship Awards from the CAA Gold Show Circuit, including 2 awards in 2016 for the Canadian Angus Association’s Red Angus Bull Calf Champion and Red Angus Heifer Calf Campion of Canada. Even with their success in the Show ring, their main focus remains on raising high quality Beef seed stock with the commercial producer in mind. The one thing Darcy and Blake did not expect are all of the amazing friends they have made since entering the Purebred Angus industry. They affectionately refer to them as their “Show Family,” and they truly are an extended family to “The Shiloh Boys.” The bond they have formed with these fellow cattle producers is both heart felt and humbling, and they would like to express here today to all those present and those at home working their ranches, how incredibly grateful they are for all of these amazing friendships that they have been blessed with. It really is a great industry filled with incredible people. Blake and Darcy would like to extend an open invitation to everyone to drop in at the Ranch anytime to tour the cattle herd. They always enjoy visiting with other cattle producers. Shiloh Cattle Company has their annual Bull Sale the last weekend of March on the Ranch. They sell approximately 40 Purebred Red Angus bulls & a hand full of Angus / Simmental cross yearling bulls, along with several packages of purebred and commercial, red and black replacement heifers. Blake and Darcy would like to thank the Canadian Red Angus Promotional Society, and the people involved who nominated them for this amazing honour. They are so grateful to be part of the Angus industry and family, and incredibly proud to be Canadian Beef Producers. 45th Annual Canadian Red Round-up
