From the desk at T Bar... On March 24, the opportunity to elevate your program to a new level will present itself. The Wheatland prefix is symbolic with cattle that excel in both the pasture as well as the show ring. As you study the sale offering you will see the strength of proven cow families stacked throughout the pedigrees. These cow families have been developed on structural soundness and correctness, longevity, high maternal strengths and to win has many champion banners as they have loads of phenotype. They have produced a product that is one of a kind by stacking these traits and weeding out the weak and less desirable with a keen awareness of phenotype, structure, and maternal traits that remain paramount with particular emphasis on the cowherd and the basic profit driven traits needed to produce a desirable and profitable product each year. Study any sale book in the country and you are sure to find the Wheatland prefix in the pedigree somewhere. These Wheatland genetics have made a one of a kind footprint in the livestock industry and the value added perks in their program is the reason for such a high demand for the Wheatland product each year. The offering this year again show their commitment to raising good looking, functional cattle that will work in the real world. This year’s group is one of the softest, soundest, hairiest, stoutest sets you will find on offer this spring and are powerful and consistent in quality. This red and black offering is loaded with modest birth numbers to high growth numbers all steaming from a proven cow family with high maternal value built within. Some of the feature bulls in this year’s sale again are a product of past high sellers in years past. There is a cross selection of 1/2, 3/4 and purebred Simmental bulls on offer as well as a featured black Angus bulls. This bull pen has been developed in big open runs ensuring a product that is athletic, sound and ready to go to work. The Lafrentz family has truly developed a family run operation that believes in customer satisfaction and producing the very best seed stock in the business. The success of their customers is their greatest inspiration and drives them to produce a fresh, productive product for your appraisal each year. It stems from a 365 day commitment to producing a better product for the livestock community and further enhancing the beef industry. We hope you can view the bulls prior to the sale and visit with any of the Wheatland crew. Chris, Ted and myself are very familiar with their program and this offering. We can assist you with your appraisals of the cattle or any absentee buying requirements you may have with utmost confidentiality. Please do not hesitate to call any of us at T Bar C at anytime with your inquires. For the Lafrentz family,
Shane Michelson

Welcome from Wheatland...
Welcome to our 12th annual bull sale. Already another year has flown by, they just seem to go quicker each and every year! We were blessed with enough feed for the cattle throughout the pastures and our hay crop, very thankful for this. The market seems strong and hopefully this continues to strengthen throughout the next coming months. Customers, friends and everyone who has taken the time to show interest in our program THANK-YOU! WITHOUT YOU THERE IS NO US! Last year, with bringing the sale home led to some crazy and hectic moments around here, but we were pleased with how it all came together in the end. We are continuing to tweak the sale facility making it more comfortable for you and also more practical. Last year was like a trial run and we are adjusting a few things. All in all we were happy with how it all turned out. I am sure the bulls appreciated it also, being able to stay in their own surroundings, I know we sure did! Just when we thought we couldn’t get any busier, 2015 and to date has made a new meaning here to that statement. This past year both boys are away from the farm and attending school down in Kansas. Riley graduated from Hutchinson Community College this past spring. He and his team mates had an absolutely awesome year judging. It was so very exciting to hear how they made out at all the different competitions and share their highlighted moments. He was honoured with being named an “All American” , which is based on academics and on his judging. This past fall, he started the last two years of his degree at Kansas State University, where he is also on the judging team--- Go Wildcats!! Cody decided to head south and also be part of the HCC Judging Team-- I guess all the hours of Riley telling stories about his experiences while on the judging team made Cody realize that this sounded like the perfect fit for him. He started school in September at Hutchinson College, where he is also a member of the livestock judging team. He is really enjoying his experience and was honoured with being named High Individual in Cattle and then Overall High Individual at Askarben, which is a judging competition in Nebraska. I believe as we are writing this, he will shortly be on his way to Illinois. We can’t say enough great things about the Livestock Team Judging, it has given the boys so many positive experiences and the opportunity to travel throughout the States. Our direction has never changed, its simply put… WE STRIVE TO RAISE CATTLE THAT ARE GEARED FOR THE COMMERCIAL CATTLEMAN, YET HAVE THAT EXTRA LOOK, SO WE CAN SLAP A SHOW HALTER ON THEM AND BE COMPETITIVE. We raise cattle that are functional and convenient, not extreme in any way. Cows that eat hay and only hay not chopped or processed in any fancy feed wagon. They are big middled and have the ability to consume and do what they are supposed to do, calve, rebreed, and raise a big calf without a creep feeder. Cows, that when analyzed are moderate framed, deep bodied, good uddered and easy to look at.The bulls are developed in a large grass paddock, where exercise is a big part of their day, eating hay at a bale feeder and hand fed grain. Bulls, that we are proud to have our prefix in front of, they are moderate framed, big bodied bulls so right for the commercial cattlemen. The profitable kind don’t need to be a frame score bigger but they do NEED to sound structured, moderate framed with a lot of body dimension, the kind that have the ability to convert while still being easy to look at. They are sired and mothered by our genetics or bulls that we feel compliment what we are striving to achieve. This will give you predictability and consistency like none other. As you go through show reports and sale catalogs, it is very humbling seeing the influence our genetics have had within this great breed of cattle! I know if you read the sale report the average may seem kind of high, but WE SELL A SOLID GROUP OF BULLS FROM $4,500 TO $6,500, making them very affordable to everyone. In doing our job as a breeder, we do sell some higher dollar bulls, which creates a higher average. These 2016 sale bulls are without a doubt the most uniform, deep bodied and solid as you will find from end to end, Purebred Simmental, Simm/Angus and Purebred Angus. All of these bulls were bred and developed with you in mind, after all it is you that makes all this happen, these friendships and relationships are an HONOR to be part of THANK-YOU! We invite you to join us at the farm on March 26th for the sale, whether is be to catch up and have a visit or select your next herdsire. Don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions about the bulls. See you at the farm,
Vernon, Denise, Riley and Cody-Ray ps. To all of our American Friends, don’t forget the exchange rate, this year it is really in your favour

Stout made, deep bodied and hairy are terms that best describe this Terminator son. This bull is big topped, big ribbed and big nutted! His dam is a picture perfect half blood Bo Jangles daughter-- she is a huge ribbed, beautifully constructed female, who is super sound and has a deadly udder. The Bo Jangles females we have here are all that way; they will impress you. This 3/4 blood Simmental bull will give you that extra muscle shape and hair. 509 carries a strong maternal pedigree backed by generations of shape and dimension. A maternal brother is working in the good herd of Gary and Kathy Lafrentz.

I had the privilege to purchase Wheatland Circuit Breaker 325A at Wheatland Cattle Company’s 2014 Bull sale where he was the $60,000 high seller. Circuit Breaker has surpassed all my expectations with the first two calf crops. He combines performance and calving ease, and I am really impressed with how easy his calves come and how much vigor they have. Calves are thick, attractive, great haired and have excellent feet and legs, Circuit Breakers consistency is incredible. The growth and ADG in his calves are tremendous. His bulls are developing into true herd sire prospects that have plenty of mass, and bone, they are also good footed, sound and big scrotal. His calves will be my lead-off red bulls in my sale. He has so much to offer to the purebred and commercial cattleman. I am also very excited how the heifers have matured and how remarkable their udder structure looks, cannot wait to see just how awesome of matrons they will become. I am very thrilled with the impact Circuit Breaker has had and what he has to offer going forward to both my herd and the industry. I would highly recommend purchasing a bull from the Lafrentz family, my experience with them and their generosity was second to none. Great cattle raised by great hard working people!

Powerfully made best describes 516. This deep bodied, extremely stout hairy made individual is impressive! You have to appreciate how much power this bull has and how he carries it in a very attractive package. His dam Abbi was purchased from Double Bar D and she is doing a great job. She also exhibits a lot of power, yet maintains that extra rib shape, dimension and body condition that we love in our females. She is really good uddered and is very correct in her structure. Abbi just calved this morning and wow, she has done it again…a solid red Profit bull calf; he will be exciting! 516 will add that extra length of body, put a big top in his offspring and add all kinds of dimension---he is a POWER HOUSE!!

A red baldy son of 298Z, mothered by a Red Ace first calf heifer. 530 is a long, smooth made bull that is very stout from behind. He is strong in his lines and is a very balanced made individual. This bull is out of proven and predictable cow families that always bring a good one in every year. Maternal strengths run deep here and we feel he will sire those calves with that extra body length. He may be out of a first calf female, but look at the power this guy possesses.

This bull possesses a big stout top in him and is wide from behind. This Royal Affair son has that good straight popping hair. We put a lot of EMPHASIS on hair coats here; we believe it is truly important that we breed good haired cattle to go work in the industry. He is mothered by a Sassy/680S female, who always does a good job. This black bull is very interesting in his makeup; he will add eye appeal without giving up any shape or dimension. 537 combines some of the best genetics here at Wheatland and Silver Towne Farms. We are very impressed with our calves sired by Wheatland Exlusive 215Z, Wheatland Terminator 202Z and Wheatland Circuit Breaker this season. These genetics are giving us calves that are easy calving, with high performance, have lots of hair and excellent temperments. The fancy group of 202Z and 215Z females from our 2015 calf crop that have been kept back to be added into our replacement pen and it will be exciting to see them come into production. We will be using these genetics again for the 2016 breeding season and are excited to add Wheatland Current Affair and Wheatland Bull 4119B (owned by Regan Schlacter) to our breeding list.

This stout made individual is good in his lines and huge quartered. He has a great foot under him and moves out freely. This black son of 310A has big testicles, just like his sire has. A solid, black Royal Affair son who is “ROYALLY” bred. This bull combines all the great traits of R. A. and the Wheatland Lady 638S cow family. 638, “Poison” has mothered many great ones; her daughter 822U, that was purchased in our 2009 sale by Double Bar D, has gone on and had a very positive influence and impact in their program. 551 is a moderate, deep sided calf that is big nutted and heavy haired. Here is a bull that is 100% backed by proven and predictable cow families--these are things we feel are very important when selecting your next herd bull. Royal Affair has proven to us he is a great breeding bull, not only does he sire the right kind, phentotypically, but they are good structured cattle. We have his first daughters in production and they all are beautifully uddered females, in terms of udder attachment, teat size and placement. I know I talked to Doug at STF and he felt the same way--so I guess now any of the uncertainties are gone; the bull has reached all of our expectations! This calf will definitely add some meat and muscle to your next calf crop. Maternal siblings are working in the good herds of Bar T Ranch and Hannah Simmentals.
I cross Wheatland bulls on Angus cows for the positive cross weight gain and power you get in the calves in the fall and are always faster gaining when backgrounding. The bulls are always quiet to be around and very manageable when working with them. With large numbers of bulls in a cow calf operation, I feel this is a must!

576 is a solid black MEAT MACHINE--he may be able to boast himself as the deepest bodied bull in the group. This guy is super soft sided, exhibits a lot of rib shape, with a big top. When you get behind him, he is a stout made son of Overhaul. He has a great hair coat and is big nutted. 576 is backed by females that have flawless udders, this is something we put a lot of emphasis on--attachment, teat size and placement, it is so very important and we continue to work at it year after year. This black chunky made bull also carries outcross genetics in his pedigree, being sired by Overhaul “GIB”, which is an added bonus. You will once again appreciate how this bull is made from the ground up, big footed and smooth in his joints, he moves out free and easy. 576 carries a very balanced set of EPD’s. Here is an opportunity to add some of our proven along with some new outcross genetics to your next calf crop. A maternal brother is working in the good herd of Dieter and Marlene Rucks.

He is fun to analyze as he is soft sided, shows all kinds of rib shape-- you have to be impressed with his upper and lower rib shape. He is big topped and huge quartered. This black bull is good headed and has a very strong herd bull head. This is another attribute when selecting sires we place a lot of emphasis on; a lot can be determined about cattle by the type and shape of their heads. This bull is deep pedigreed; he will breed like he looks, consistent and predictable. The strength and impact in this young herdsire is limitless!! He will leave his strong attributes and have a very positive influence in your program. Wow would be the first word that comes to mind, as you analyze this black blaze Broker son. He carries his power from his nose to his toes; he puts himself into a league all of his own. This bull is mothered by a very nice made 680S daughter that is a hard working producing female. She herself carries that cool blaze face, and to boot has a great udder and is extremely hairy! She calved again this year to Broker and had just the sweetest heifer calf, quite excited what the future will hold for this youngster. In saying that, we feel that the predictability will run very deep in this herd sire. 579 was honoured with being named Junior Calf Champion this past fall at Agribition 2015. Kind of a neat note also was the Junior Heifer Calf Champion was also a Broker female, mothered also by a 680S daughter; so I guess what we are saying is that the combination of Broker and 680S is win win. This bull is massive in his design; he is huge middled, square hipped and has all kinds of performance. He has that good Broker/680S hair and demands your attention. Take notice of how good headed this calf is, a sign of a true breeding bull. Here is an opportunity to add all the goodness of what Broker and 680S have done within the industry into your program, this should be very exciting!

Our belief around here is that these bulls are only as good as the cow families backing them; well she has done it again!! 91X brings to you another outstanding Royal Affair son that is soft sided and stout in his make-up. You will appreciate the phenotype and overall balance this young herd sire possesses. 589 is made so right in so many ways; he is huge bodied and notice his top, it’s wide!! He puts all of this into an extremely sound package that, right from the ground up, is built on a big solid foot. He has that strong herd bull head, a sign of what we feel is a true breeding bull. He is super hairy and has that extra base to his hair coat; you have to love his good straight hair that pops right off of him. This is another quality we put a lot of emphasis on around here--we try to breed cattle that have that good straight thick hair that comes away from their body. Vern jokes about it being electric, that you can almost hear it snap as you clip it. 589 is full of character and has that herd bull presence about him. Here is a herd bull that will add muscle shape, depth of body, character and hair to your program! A full brother was purchased in our 2015 sale by Robb Farms and Bouchard Livestock International.

Black Blaze Faced, with an outcross pedigree to boot, should create some excitement on this young Overhaul calf. He is mothered by one of our favourites… A true sale feature here; this guy is just so right, long, smooth made and yet still maintains incredible upper and lower rib shape. 595 has a ton of dimension and shape about him off of the side and then when he get behind him he is explosive in his design. He is a big topped, square hipped big that has great testicle development. You will love the foot under this bull; it’s big and has lots of depth of heel. He is super hairy and has a great disposition. We are more than impressed with the job Overhaul “Gib” has done in our program, and we are super excited to get his females into production. The dam, 150Y, of this exciting young herdsire is a must see female. She is big middled with that extra softness; a really extended fronted female with a gorgeous udder, she is just beautifully made! In the paperwork on 595, you will find some of our most reliable and proven cow families. They say every great breeding bull should out do himself…well I’d say this might be the case with Kill Switch, as he covers all of the bases. It would be a challenge to find one with more body, rib shape and power, while still being exceptional in his joint quality and structural correctness. He possesses that presence about him that draws you to him; it’s like he commands your attention. Not to mention how hairy and huge nutted he is. His sire Circuit Breaker, the $60,000 bull a couple of years back that sold to Outlaw Cattle Co. in Alberta is really making a name for himself. His calves have a very bright future and they will create some excitement this spring! His dam comes right out of the heart of the Hale Ranch program in Texas; she is a huge footed, big middled, good uddered Red Label cow out of the renowned Candace female. She has two High Octane daughters in our herd that are doing a whale of a job; she is really proving herself to us! I’d say it would be worth the drive to see this one; phenotypically and genetically, he is bred to raise the bar! Kill Switch exhibits incredible stoutness, body and performance that we are all after, while maintaining structural integrity with a ton of presence. These qualities position him into his own category…be a part of one of the exciting ones to sell this spring before the switch is flipped!!

He may be just an April born, but look at all the power and presence he possesses. This black baldy calf is a very neat made individual who in terms of his age, doesn’t have to take a back seat to any of the other bulls in terms of performance. He is a very soft sided, square made bull that is hairy and showing great testicle development. His sire 232Z, was the Grand Champion Bull in 2012, where he claimed that honour as a calf. We had the misfortune of 232Z getting hurt for the breeding season of 2013 but we were able to use him successfully these past two years, with a lot of calves coming sired by him this year. His dam just calved the other day and she has another good one on her. Here’s an opportunity for a neat made, black baldy herdsire!

We at New Trend Cattle Co. can honestly say that the Lafrentz family are one of the hardest working, dedicated families to the cattle industry and have been dedicated to producing Simmentals from the beginning. They strive every year to produce bulls and females better than the last! We think that this speaks volumes for who they are as producers ! We feel that their breeding program every year, has produced a herd bull for the purebred sector or for the commercial cowboy. We as life long believers and breeders in the Simmental industry have used their genetics extensively. We can honestly say that there has never been a mating in our program, to any of their bulls, that has not worked! We have been through this years bull pen and they are one awesome set. Shop with confidence. We want to say thanks for your continued dedication to producing top genetics ! We as Simmental breeders are only as good as the cattle we produce and what we sell to the industry! All the Best In the Beef Business, Tim, Derri and Jacey Massey

The Route One females are very impressive in their design and are great mother cows, just ask Wade and Heather Brokenshire from Tableland Cattle--as they purchased Route One in our 2009 sale for his strong maternal strengths. We really like the look of this calf; you have to love his head and how he commands you to take note of him. He is mothered by a full sibling to High Octane, who was the high seller in our 2013 sale, going to the good people of Kappes Simmentals in South Dakota. 5218 has a real good foot under him and is very sound in his movement. Here is a chance to add all the goodness from Lock and Load and High Octane to your breeding program.

Really soggy made bull coming at you here. This bull has a really intriguing pedigree being out of the great Agribition Champion Red Rush, who needs no introduction, and Upgrade who has been very popular and continues to get the job done down south. C25 is really deep sided with plenty of spring of rib and red meat in him. He is sure on his feet and legs and very smooth fronted. This bull should be an easy calver and his progeny should have plenty of style to burn at the end of the day. HOMO POLLED HETERO BLACK MOTHERED BY A LEGEND

A solid black son sired by Captain Morgan and mothered by a Stout female. This young herdsire is stout made, deep bodied and exhibits all the characteristics of a great herd bull. His sire Captain Morgan has been very influential throughout the breed. The dam of the bull is a beautifully made Stout, 930W daughter who is very eye catchy. She is super extended throughout her front and is a big bodied, deep made female, who has a super udder in terms of attachment, teat size and placement. This Captain Morgan son will add some power, in terms of muscle and shape to your program along with bringing all the goodness and maternal strength from his dam. Here is an opportunity to purchase the only Captain Morgan son in the sale, and he’s a good one at that!

MICH Wheatland Class Act is one of the most interesting Angus bulls to sell this spring. He is not only loaded with power and performance but when you stop and analyze him you will appreciate his extra dimension, rib shape, and overall stoutness while still maintaining that killer look we all appreciate. Class Act will be one of the only sons of EXAR Classen to sell in Canada this spring, offering some fresh genetics to Canada. His dam RR Envious Blackbird 4487 has produced many show and sale toppers throughout her production. A 3/4 sister to Class Act was named champion Angus and Res. Champion overall breeds this past 2015 in the First Lady Classic at Canadian Western Agribition. Another 3/4 sister won her Intermediate Yearling division at the 2015 CWA Angus show as well. Another full sister was named Reserve Senior Calf Champion at the 2014 CWA show. Just recently another full sister was named Champion Angus and Supreme Overall Female at the 2016 Regina Spring Steer and Heifer Show by Kodie Doetzel. She has progeny working is herds such as Brooking Angus, Koyle Farms, Mainstream Genetics, Hollinger Land and Cattle, Dynasty Angus, Greenwood Angus, Harvest Angus, Triple L Angus, Nu-Horizon Angus as well as our own program here at Wheatland. This cow family has proven to be a no miss deal, coupling it with one of the hottest sires makes Class Act one of the most intriguing bulls to be offered this spring. MICH Wheatland Class Act 587C is worth your appraisal this 24th of March as he truely has all the tools to elevate you program to a new level.
