Varsity sport Varsity sport at sportBU offers students the opportunity to excel and grow with a large comprehensive programme and represent Bournemouth University in competitive sport. All teams compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) competition which organises inter university sport. We have 38 teams representing BU in the BUCS leagues and numerous individual disciplines are supported through a wide range of partnerships with local professional and semi professional clubs. This enables athletes to compete at high-quality facilities as well as providing opportunities for local and national league competitions. Each club has a Level 2 or higher coach, weekly or bi-weekly training with additional free access to squad specific weekly strength & conditioning sessions. Varsity sports programmes are run on a paper and performance trial basis. Trials are held by each club in the first two weeks at the start of the academic year. Varsity matches take place on Wednesday afternoons with individual sports running at various times throughout the year. Our main sports venue is Bournemouth Sports Club along with our facilities on Talbot Campus.
