What’s on: SUBU
What’s on Students’ Union
Voted the UK’s Best Freshers’ Fair, Sun 27 Sept is a must for your calendar! This year SUBU plans to run the event at Lansdowne to make it even easier to go to. You will be able to meet hundreds of student groups, claim your freebies and much more.
SUBU provide loads of opportunities for you to try something new and make great friendships; from joining your academic society to going on a beach clean, representing your peers as an elected officer or you could even create your own club or work on a campaign, we are here to support you with all this and much more besides.
We Are Freshers events
This year We Are Freshers has been adapted for the Covid-19 pandemic. There will still be a big range of events going on with something for everybody, however most events will either be happening outdoors or virtually. Looking further forward, your SU team is working tirelessly with the best promoters to create some unforgettable parties at our venue ‘The Old Fire Station’ for when it can re-open. It’s well worth signing up on the Freshers website and Facebook page so that you keep up to date with We Are Freshers announcements:

Dylan’s Kitchen & Bar
The only bar on Talbot Campus puts on regular socials such as quizzes and karaoke launching from the start of term – it’s a good choice if you don’t want to be out too late.
Trips and tours
If you love exploring, SUBU runs a range of exciting tours to beautiful cities like Bath and Oxford as well as to world heritage sites like Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast. Trips start from October and are a great way to see some amazing places with your friends.

Beyond September
Our events are just getting started when you arrive, and also include campaigns such as Black History Month in October, where the whole BU community enjoys a series of informative talks, debates and celebratory events. Later in the year our One World Festival brings together all cultures at BU and is not to be missed!

Top tip
When exploring all the events going on please remember – if it’s not promoted on BU or SUBU websites or social media, then we haven’t organised it, so think twice before signing up. Nightclub parties are also unlikely to be able to go ahead in September/October.
