Fees and FAQs In this section you’ll find the answers to some of the questions that you may have prior to enrolling on a new course. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Please feel free to get in touch on 0121 477 1300 or via email, info@bournville.ac.uk and our team will be happy to help you.
How do I pay for my studies?
Payment of all fees (tuition and/or awarding body costs) is due in full at enrolment and is not refundable after the course starts, unless the course is cancelled by the College. If the learner withdraws before the course starts, there will be a £15 refund charge. Please note:
• Courses up to 15 weeks in length: Payment required in full for courses of up to 15 weeks in length and/or if the total amount payable is less than £100. • If the course is longer than 15 weeks, the total amount payable is greater than £100 and the instalment option is taken: administration charge of £15 to be added to the full cost of course. Payments are made in four equal instalments (the £15 admin fee being added to the first payment). Payments are then made over the three consecutive months by a direct debit mandate system. • For students who are aged 24 and over and studying a Level 3 or Level 4 programme, a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan scheme may cover the tuition cost of the course. For further information, see the advert below or contact the Student Funding Team on 0121 477 1965. • Firm/employer to pay course fees: Letter of authority is required from the student’s employer confirming that course costs and registration fees can be invoiced to them. A purchase order from the employer may be required. The instalment option is not available to employers. If the employer withdraws funding the fees are payable by the learner. Payment of fees can be made by cash, credit card or debit card. Cheques are only accepted from employers. International students can also pay by bank transfer – further details upon request. You may be eligible for reduced fees depending upon your age, residency in England and benefits received. For further information regarding fee concessions, contact the College Financial Services on 0121 477 1700. Fees quoted, discounts and free courses apply to UK and EU residents only. Overseas students should contact the International Office on 0121 477 1600. Student loans are available for certain Higher Education courses subject to eligibility, terms and conditions. Please contact the Student Funding Team on 0121 477 1965.
When can I enrol?
We have several enrolment dates over the coming months. Please see page 15 for more information.
24+ Advanced Learning Loans If you’re aged 24 or over and thinking about a Level 3 or Level 4 course, you may now get a Government-backed loan to cover the cost of your training.
• Your household income is not taken into consideration • There is no credit check • The minimum loan amount is £300 • You don’t have to pay anything back until your income is over £21,000 a year • If your loan is for an Access to Higher Education course, you don’t have to pay the loan back if you progress to and complete a higher education course
Please ensure that your loan is in place prior to the start of your course. Arrangements will be in place for you to apply for your loan on the day that you enrol. To apply you will need the following information:
• Valid National Insurance Number (NINO) • Valid UK Passport details (if held) • Alternative forms of ID can be submitted (UK Birth Certificate, Non-UK Passport, Residency Information)
