The company line of business Cadbury Plc was established in 1824 by John Cadbury when he opened a shop in Birmingham selling cocoa and chocolate. Cadbury is now a leading global confectionery company with an outstanding portfolio of chocolate, gum and sweet brands.
The training package The eight week pre-employment training programme consisted of a variety of workshops designed to prepare candidates for working in the production and manufacturing sector. Workshops delivered by Bournville College included problem solving, team building, basic manufacturing techniques and communications skills. Candidates also underwent physical training delivered at LA Fitness which was designed to help them prepare for coping with manual work.
Business / Personal Improvement I worked for over 20 years for MG Rover in Longbridge until its collapse in 2005. Since then, I struggled to find permanent employment and job hunting got even worse with the arrival of the recession. When I was given an opportunity to apply for Cadbury pre-employment training the cloud lifted. Bournville College has been very supportive and tutors were excellent; everybody enjoyed working with them. I’m pleased to have a job again. David Rigby, Employee at Cadbury Plc
It’s been a pleasure working alongside Bournville College, helping them deliver a programme that has retrained people like David. We had our most productive year ever in shell eggs; the team from the programme showing the way forward with their approach to work. Their attitude and team work has been outstanding. John Glover, Team Manager at Cadbury Plc

Business / Personal Improvement I completed my NVQ Level 3 in Customer Service with Bournville College last year and I really enjoyed it. You have to put the work in but the course is very relevant and it reiterates all customer service principles that you should be aware of. Millicent Clarke, my assessor, was absolutely brilliant, she was always there for me. I would definitely recommend both the course and the assessor! Lynn Phillips, Deputy Reception Manager - NVQ Level 3 in Customer Service
I started my career in the leisure industry straight after leaving university, where I did a degree in Video Production. I chose to do my NVQ in Management because I didn’t have any qualifications relevant to my job. I’m enjoying the course and I’m learning a lot about staffing issues, motivation and other areas of management which are important in my job. I would recommend this course to anyone in a similar job role. Philippa Hughes, Reception Manager - NVQ Level 3 in Management

The scheme allows our staff to achieve an NVQ, key skills and a technical certificate, all suitable to their job role. The training is delivered through a mixture of college attendance and on-the-job training. We have worked with the College for four years and the partnership is working well for us. Colin Crowdy, Finance Manager
I started at Harris Lamb four years ago on an Apprenticeship programme as an Office Junior. It was my first job and the training helped me a lot with my learning. It was good to get a mixture of on-the-job and classroom training. After I finished my Apprenticeship I was promoted to a Finance Assistant, doing purchase ledger and accounts, which I really enjoy. I then went back to Bournville College to complete my AAT Foundation and Intermediate qualifications. Heana Narshi, Finance Assistant, Apprenticeship in Administration
