LUXURY CUSTOM ADOBE 8.3 ACRE ESTATE ON HILLSIDE LOT

Step into this Enchanting Custom Adobe Retreat set

against Usery Mountain Regional Park

The ancient (and sustainable) method of building called rammed earth adobe was ideal for the beautiful high Sonoran desert site which is the setting for this very private and secure 8.212 acre estate. Fully fenced with electronic security gate. Tucson architect Harvey Jernigan designed the pueblo style home to enhance, rather than compete with the surrounding terrain, as well as to take maximum advantage of passive solar principals. A term often used for this type of design is organic architecture, the objective of which is understatement, with manmade structures complimenting the natural beauty of the site, but not overwhelming it.

The design, with French doors opening from every room to expansive patios provides stunning views as well as cross-ventilation so important in the Arizona climate and makes the home an integral part of its setting. The two foot thick walls ensure a very quiet home, but also ensure that sunlight strikes glass only in winter and only on the south, almost no heating is required. In summer, the sun does not strike glass due to precise siting and the recessed windows and doors set into the thick walls. This keeps heat gain to the interior minimal so that there are several warmer months when mechanical cooling is unnecessary. All doors and windows are double paned Pella units with the exception of the handmade front door. Entering through one of the home’s beautiful handmade doors, one sees a spacious entry hall (called a zaguan) which extends all the way to the back of the house, and to the left a large and comfortable living room with fireplace and as wall of french doors looking out on the pool patio and walled gardens to the lights of the city beyond.

A true custom Adobe home built with the finest finishes: solid wood Pecki cedar doors, exposed wood beams, Satillo tile, Saguaro rib ceilings, and wood shutters. Front patio warmly greets you as you make your way into the home through the solid wood Spanish door.

A sparkling pool greets you as you enter the property set up high on this hillside lot with views all around. The front yard is an entertainers delight complete with a built in BBQ and large covered patio, making this the perfect spot to hold a private get together. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors pull all the way back creating an indoor / outdoor feel from the pool area to the living room that is unsurpassed. The main pool is pebble tech 20’x40’ , is heated, and has an automatic cover for easy maintenance. A few steps down, a beautiful (and very private) in ground spa has unobstructed views of desert and city lights. A covered ramada with large fireplace provides a cozy spot on cool nights. An entry patio also has a large fireplace and offers access from an extra parking area needed when hosting large gatherings.
