Premium! Exceptional! First Class! Upgrading Your Packages

By Beth Standlee

At a recent event, I had the opportunity to serve on a panel where we talked about birthdays and how to upgrade the experience. What struck me was when one of the panelists used the word “premium.”

It may seem like a small thing. However, I was taken aback as I thought about how I might feel as a mom or grandmother ready to book a birthday for my precious baby. Of course I want my child to have a premium experience. They only get to turn seven once, and I want it to be outstanding.

A premium experience is an upgrade, folks! That upgrade might be the best package rather than the good or better package. I could have used the word basic, but no parent wants a basic package for their child’s party.

Words make all the difference! You should check the names of your party packages and see how you can make them stronger and more appealing to potential guests. A premium upgrade can also be an excellent add-on to any party. Upgrade options can be: added time, a particular attraction, upgraded food, or additional gameplay.

I encourage you to take the following steps now and see if your packages are “premium” enough to beat your competition. Below are some ideas you can implement as soon as you finish reading this article.

Repackage Your Parties

Do they scream, “Buy me!” Do they make people think, “Wow, I have to get that?” Words matter. Make sure the names of your packages suggest a premium experience. Birthdays happen once a year, and they’re a big deal to kids, parents, and your party business. The words you choose can sway potential party-throwers to have a blow-out at your center or have them think, ‘Meh, what’s the next idea?’

Upgrade the Experience

Collaborate with your team about upgrading the party experience in your center. It could be as simple as roping off an area for your party VIPs that helps everyone in the house know how important each child is! Ideally, you want to monetize your upgrade experience. When you get your team involved, they are more likely to make sure this premium experience is one your guests will remember. When your team has input, they have ownership and can help deliver that premium experience promise.
