BOYCE POSTMA

Experience Architect

As an architect, I am a storyteller, project orchestrator, artist, and engineer. I am fluent in the languages of specialist consultants and journeymen alike. I have over a decade of experience designing carefully crafted spaces, honing my skills and efficiency while practicing empathy. I love architecture, but I am seeking a new opportunity where I can have an increased impact on the quality of memorable experiences and implement new technologies and strategies to evolve the connection between people and inspiration. Having worked with Hacker Architects on two projects with LNE since 2019, I have the experience to excel as the Head of the Concept Studio, bringing clarity of vision and sharp execution to future venue development.

Led research, design, and collaboration with LNE Design and Construction team to bring a new seasonal waterfront venue to Portland - Zidell Yards. The design successfully broke an immense site into more intimate areas for fans to create a deeper connection with the venue, brand, and its unique location in Portland.

Though the Zidell Yards project was not realized, my team established an important working relationship with city bureaus and neighboring businesses for future collaboration between LNE and the region.

Currently working on a team to navigate a complex entitlements process with LNE and developer (BEAM) for a 3,000 occupancy venue.

Currently managing and developing design and coordination of a $25 million, 83-room luxury hotel. This project has been an intense collaboration with a hospitality interior experience team, a talented branding team, future hotel operators, and the developer to create a vision for a unique and extremely high-quality product.

Led the implementation of XR (VR + AR) into our design and presentation process using new interactive technology from The Wild (recently acquired by Autodesk). Demonstrated remote collaboration to win a project with a university client.

Led a team through the unique design and documentation of the AirBNB headquarters in Seattle. We successfully designed a space with the client that would represent both the AirBNB identity and the local voice of the Seattle team.

Performed detailed analysis and schematic concept for a new sports stadium in collaboration with Portland's Lincoln High School and Portland State University. I ran a series of visioning meetings with both groups as well as city bureaus to create a design that would satisfy both shareholders as well as the community at large.

Acquired my license to practice architecture while researching and designing automatic parking systems for a luxury vehicle club. I also performed limited work on the historic Guild Theatre for a tech company interested in restoring it.

Trained under the best project managers to provide the highest level of service for some of the most demanding clients in the world. The design of these projects is strikingly humble in appearance for unlimited budgets. Developed designs that were deeply rooted in their sense of place - most of which are fragile and valuable natural landscapes

Moved to Japan to assist with the design of the Portland Japanese Garden Cultural Crossing. This project is a huddle of buildings that tie seamlessly into the landscape and add depth to the story and placemaking of the gardens as a whole. I was tasked with enriching the vision of the project through texture, material, light, and tradition to create unique experiential qualities.

Between work on the Garden project, I developed interior program design for the Redbull Music Academy hosted in Tokyo.

Worked closely with engineers to design function-driven facilities for an agrochemical company and a computer hardware manufacturer (formerly CH2MHill)
